Impresionante, profunda despedida de Nancy Iriar-te Díaz a Hugo Chávez, publicada en uno de los

periódicos venezolanos de mayor circulación “El Universal”Algunas consideraciones sobre tu muerte:No quiero que te marches de esta vida sin antes des-pedirnos, porque has hecho un mal inmenso a mucha gente, has arruinado a familias enteras, has obliga-do a legiones de compatriotas a emigrar a otras tie-rras, has vestido de luto a incontables hogares, a los que creías tus enemigos los perseguiste sin cuartel, los encerraste en ergástulas que no lo merece ni un animal, los insultaste, los humillaste, te burlaste de ellos, no solo porque te creías poderoso, sino inmor-tal... porque el fin de los tiempos no era contigo.Pero llegó tu turno, los plazos se acaban, el término de tu contrato llega a su fin, tu “ciclo vital” se apaga poco a poco y no de la mejor manera; probablemen-te morirás en una cama, rodeado de tu familia, asus-tada, porque va a tener que rendir cuentas una vez que des tu último aliento, te vas de esta vida lleno de angustia y de miedo, allí van a estar los curas a quienes perseguiste e insultaste, los representantes de esa Iglesia que ultrajaste a placer, claro que te van a dar la extremaunción y los santos óleos, no una, sino muchas veces, pero tú y ellos saben que no ser-virá de nada, es solo para calmar el pánico que hace presa a tu alma ante el momento que todo lo define. Mueres enfermo, padeciendo el desahucio, las com-plicaciones inmunológicas, los terribles efectos se-cundarios de las curas que prometieron alargar tu vida, tus órganos se van apagando uno a uno, tus facultades van perdiendo el brillo que las caracteri-zaba, tus líquidos y efluvios son colectados en bol-sas plásticas con ese hedor a muerte que tanto te repugna.

Dime si en este momento, antes de que te apliquen una nueva inyección para calmar los dolores inso-portables que padeces, vale la pena que me digas que no te pueden quitar lo bailado, ¡ah! los via-jes por el mundo, los maravillosos palacios que te recibieron, las paradas militares en tu honor, las limousines, los títulos honorarios, los pisos de

los hoteles cinco estrellas, las fastuosas cenas de Estado... dime ahora que vomitas la papilla

de auyama que te tratan de dar las enfermeras, si era de eso de lo que se trataba la vida, pues ese brillo y el oropel ya no están entre los monitores y máqui-nas de resucitamiento que te rodean, esas marchas y aplausos ahora son tonos y alarmas de sensores que regulan tus signos vitales que se hacen más débiles.

¿Puedes escuchar al pueblo de tu país afuera de tu cuarto?... debe ser tu imaginación o los efectos de la morfina, no estás en tu patria, estas en otro lado, muy lejos, entre gente que no conoces... sí, estás muriendo en tu propio exilio, entre una banda de pi-lluelos a quienes les has tratado de entregar tu propio país, tus últimos momentos los pasarás entre chulos y estafadores, entre tu corte de aduladores que solo te muestran afecto porque les dabas dinero y poder, todos te miran preocupados y con rabia, nunca dejas-te que ninguno de ellos pudiera tener la oportunidad de sucederte, ahora los dejas al descampado y tu país al borde de una guerra, ¿Era eso lo que querías? ¿Fue esa tu misión en esta vida? Olvídate del cuento de los pobres, ahora hay más pobres que cuando lle-gaste al poder, olvídate de justicia e igualdad cuan-do prácticamente le entregaste el país a una fuerza extranjera que ahora tendremos que desalojar a la fuerza y a costas de más vidas.

Tengo la leve impresión que ahora sabes que te equi-vocaste, creíste en un cuento de camino y te creíste revolucionario, y por ser revolucionario... inmortal, convocaste a tu lado a los muertos, a tus héroes, a esos fantasmas que también creíste con vida, a Bo-lívar, al Che, a Fidel, al Marx que nunca conociste y que recomendabas su lectura.Bueno, me despido, solo quería que supieras que pasarás a la historia como un traidor y un cobarde, que no rectificaste cuando pudiste, te dejaste llevar por tu soberbia, por tus ideales, por tu ideología renunciando a los más preciado, a tu libertad y a la libertad de los otros, y la libertad nos hace humanos.

Abril nos trajo muy buen tiempo, y además visitantes y familiares a

Hollywood Beach, así que naturalmente incluimos en nuestra agenda algunas actividades acuáticas. Nos fuimos de pesca en el barco Leggs III, un barco de pesca que sale tres veces al dia del muelle del inter-coastal situado entre la calle Sheridan y Dania Beach Blvd. Los viajes son acerca de 4-5 horas. Ellos tienen una página web http://www.sealegs3.com/, para que sepan los horarios exactos. En primer lugar hay un paseo escénico por Port Everglades y el Atlántico donde podrán ver a las gaviotas volándote por encima, se pasa muy de cerca de los enormes barcos cruceros –una fantástica oportunidad de tomar fotos, así que no te olvides tu cámara. Sea Leggs luego se dirige hacia el Océano Atlántico, y el equipo te lleva a lugares que ellos saben que los peces pican, cerca de 3-5 millas de la costa. Cuando se detiene, el equipo ofrece cañas de pescar con carnada, así que si alguien no quiere tocar la carnada,

no es ningún problema. Nuestro grupo pescó una gran variedad de peces: pez rey, pargos, Jacks, y mucho más.El ambiente en el barco es muy tranquilo. Usted puede llevar comida y bebidas, si lo prefiere, pero también venden bebidas en el barco. Hay algunos “clientes fijos” que traen sus propias cañas y carnada, y tienen muchas historias de sus experiencias personales pescando. Cuando el barco regresa al muelle, el equipo limpia los pescados y te los corta en filetes, listo para la parrilla! Yo diría que la pesca en el Sea Leggs III es el mejor medio día de actividad que está disponible en la zona de Hollywood, Dania Beach y la zona de Hallandale Beach, tanto para los residentes y los turistas. and family visits to Hollywood Beach, so naturally included in our agenda were some water activities.We went fishing on Sea Leggs III, a party fishing boat that departs from its inter-coastal dock located between Sheridan Street and Dania Beach Blvd, three times a day. The trips are about 4-5 hours long. Check out their website at http://www.sealegs3.com/, for exact times. First there is a scenic ride to Port Everglades and out to the Atlantic. With seagulls flying overhead, you pass closely by parked massive cruise ships affording an amazing view from the water. Great picture taking opportunities, so don’t forget your camera. Sea Leggs then heads out to the Atlantic Ocean, and the crew takes you to locations where they know the fish are biting, about 3-5 miles from the coast. When you stop, the crew provides baited fishing poles,

so if anyone does not want to touch slimy fish; it is not a problem. Our group caught a variety of fish: King Fish, Snappers, Jacks, and more. The atmosphere on the boat is very laid-back. You can bring food and drinks if you prefer, but they also sell drinks right on the boat. There are some “regulars” that bring their own rods and bait, and have many stories of past fishing experiences. When the boat returns to the dock, the crew cleans and fillets your catch, ready for your grill! I would say fishing on Sea Leggs III is by far the best half-day activity available in the Hollywood, Dania Beach and the Hallandale Beach area, for both residents and tourists. For as little as $33 ($38.00 without the on-line coupon) you get a wonderful boat ride, guided fishing with baited poles, and most of the time you return to the dock with a tasty dinner or lunch that you can boast about catching yourself.

INGREDIENTS:3 medium onions--1 sliced, 2 chopped3 scallions, chopped1 tbsp. fresh ginger1 tsp. kosher salt1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts2 tbsp. vegetable oil or olive oil, for frying3 medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped1 garlic clove, minced1 Scotch bonnet or other chile, pricked with fork1/2 tsp. paprikaPREPARATION: 1. In a large plastic bag, combine sliced onion, scallions, ginger salt, and black pepper. Place chicken in bag and rub mixture all over. Close bag and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight. 2. Remove chicken from marinade mixture and pat dry. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil. Add chicken and brown all over, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate. 3. Add chopped onions to the skillet and cook until just wilted. Return chicken breasts to skillet and add tomatoes, garlic, chile pepper, and paprika. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook until chicken is fork tender and juices run clear, about 25 minutes; add a tablespoon or two of water if necessary to keep moist. Discard chile before serving.

The facts on hormone replacement therapy for women with heart disease

La enfermedad cardiovascular (CVD) es la principal causa de muerte y discapa-

cidad en mujeres en los Estados Unidos. Las enfermedades cardiovasculares, que son los ataques cardíacos y accidentes cerebrovascu-lares, mata dos veces mas mujeres que todas las otras causas combinadas. Las estadísticas muestran que una de cada nueve mujeres me-nores de 65 años sufren de enfermedades del corazón, esta incidencia aumenta a una de cada tres mujeres mayores de 65 años. Aun-que CVD mata 5 veces más mujeres que el cáncer de mama, el hecho es que las mujeres aún temen contraer el cáncer de mama mu-cho más! Debido a los efectos protectores de las hormonas femeninas, la mujer promedio tieneCVD 10 años más tarde que los hombres. Sin embargo, después de la menopausia, la inci-dencia de enfermedades cardiacas en las mu-jeres se vuelve similar a la de los hombres.De hecho, una menopausia prematura o pre-coz es un factor de riesgo para desarrollar enfermedades cardiovasculares. La función protectora de reemplazo de estrógeno (HRT) en mujeres con enfermedad cardíacas (por ejemplo, después de sufrir un ataque al co-razón) es incuestionable. Los beneficios son

los siguientes:1. Reducción del riesgo de un segundo ata-que al corazón por la mitad;2. Reducción del nivel de colesterol en la sangre: El estrógeno reduce el LDL “malo”El colesterol en un 10-20% y aumenta el “bueno” HDL-colesterol en un 10-30%; 3. Reducción del riesgo de fracturas de ca-dera y posiblemente el riesgo de enfermedad de Alzheimer4. Hay un estudio reciente que sugiere que la terapia con estrógenos reducen la posibilidad dere-bloqueo después de la angioplastia con balón. En conclusión, se recomienda terapia de reemplazo hormonal a todas las mujeres con enfermedad cardíaca (salvo que esté contraindicado por otras razones). El bene-ficio de reemplazo hormonal es menos cla-ro en las mujeres sin enfermedad cardíaca: se recomienda que la HRT será considerado en mujeres con alto riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares tales como aquellos con ni-veles altos de colesterol. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and disability in women in the United

States. CVD, that is heart attacks and strokes, kills twice as many women as all other causes combined. Statistics show that one in nine women under the age of 65 suffers from heart disease, this incidence increases to one in three women over the age of 65.Even though CVD kills 5 times more women than breast cancer, the fact is that women still fear breast cancer far more!!Because of the protective effects of the female hormones, the average women get CVD 10 years later than men do. However, after menopause, the incidence of heart disease in women becomes similar to that in men.In fact, a premature or early menopause is a risk factor to develop CVD. The protective role of estrogen replacement in women with known heart disease (for example after suffering a heart attack) is unquestionable. The expected benefits are:1. Reduction of the risk of a second heart attack in half;2. Reduction of the cholesterol blood level: Estrogen reduces the “bad” LDL Cholesterol by 10-20% and increases the “good” HDL-cholesterol by 10-30%; 3. Reduction of the risk of hip fractures and possibly the risk of Alzheimer’s disease; and4. There is a recent study that suggests that estrogen therapy reduce the chance ofre-blockage after balloon angioplasty.

In conclusion, we recommend HRT to every woman with known heart disease (unless contraindicated for other reasons). The benefit of hormone replacement is less definite in women without heart disease: we recommend that HRT be considered in women at high risk for CVD such as those with high cholesterol levels. In fact, HRT may be an inexpensive first line therapy for women with high cholesterol levels along withdiet and exercise.

Generalmente estas coro-nas requieren menos desgaste del diente, son más duraderas ya que son muy fuertes y no se desgastan o parten. La única desventaja es el color metálico. Se recomienda en molares de pacientes que aprietan los dientes.• Metal-Porcelana: Estas coronas son estéticas y muy duraderas. Contienen metal por dentro y porcelana por fuera. Con el paso del tiempo y la recesión de las encías algunas veces se

descubre el metal y se recomienda reem-plazar la corona. Se indican tanto en

molares como en dientes anteriores.• Resina: Estas coronas estéticas pero de me-nor calidad. Tienden a desgastarse y a fracturar-se fácilmente, por lo que sólo se recomiendan como coronas provisionales. • Cerámica ó Porcelana: Este tipo de co-ronas brindan la mejor estética ya que simulan perfectamente a los dientes naturales. Se reco-mienda en pacientes con alergias a los metales y en los dientes anteriores. ¿Cuando debo cambiarme las coro-nas?Las coronas deberían durar muchos años, sin embargo, se recomienda el reemplazo cuando existe caries debajo de la corona, cuando se ha fracturado, desgastado ó por razones estéticas. The crowns are cemented and fully encase the visible por-tion of a tooth that lies above the gum line.When is a Crown Needed?A dental crown may be needed in the fo-llowing situations:1. To protect a weak tooth, already broken or severely worn down. (After a root ca-nal, the tooth is very weak and prone to fracture. Molars should be restored with crowns after a root canal has been per-formed in order to prevent fracture of the tooth).2. To cover a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left.3. To hold a dental bridge.4. To cover misshapen or severely disco-lored teeth.5. To restore a dental implant. 6. To correct the bite (TMJ patients).Types of Crowns Permanent crowns can be made from all metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, all resin, or all ceramic.• Metals used in crowns include gold alloy or a base-metal alloy. Metal crowns require less tooth structure to be remo-ved. Metal crowns withstand biting and chewing forces well and probably last the longest. The metallic color is the main drawback. Metal crowns are a good choi-ce for back molars of severe grinders (bruxism).• Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns can be color-matched to your teeth. These crowns look like normal teeth. However, sometimes the metal underlying the crown can show through as a dark line, especia-lly at the gum line if there is gum reces-sion. These crowns can be used for front or back teeth.• All-resin dental crowns are less ex-pensive than other crown types. They are

tooth-colored; however, they wear down fast and break easily. Generally, resin crowns are used as temporary crowns. • All-ceramic or all-porcelain den-tal crowns perfectly match natural teeth and may be ideal for people with metal allergies. However, they are not as strong as porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. All-ceramic crowns are a good choice for front teeth.When should I replace my crowns?Dental crowns should last many years, but it is recommended to replace them when there is a cavity under the crown or pro-blems with the gums. “Latinos Por Obama”El equipo del presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack

Obama, lanzó una campaña llamada “Latinos por Obama”, para conquistar el voto de los hispanos en las próximas elecciones en noviembre y aseguró que mientras más hispanos sufraguen para elegir legisladores nacionales, más posibilidades habrá de que el Congreso apruebe una reforma migratoria integral. “Si tenemos una gran participación de la comunidad latina, dejan claro que para ellos esto es importante y eligen a sus miembros del Congreso claramente, podremos hacerla en los próximos dos años’’, recalcó el equipo al referirse a la reforma de las leyes de inmigración, en un intento por captar votos hispanos. De hecho, el presidente visitó la Florida dos veces en una semana. En las elecciones del 2008, Obama recibió el 68% de los votos hispanos, pero muchos de ellos están decepcionados por el incumplimiento de las promesas sobre la reforma migratoria y porque se han visto especialmente golpeados por la recesión económica. Según las últimas encuestas, Obama sigue gozando de una amplia ventaja frente a Romney entre el electorado latino. El último sondeo de Gallup le concede a Obama un 67% de apoyo en esta comunidad que tiene más de 20 millones de hispanos inscritos en el registro electoral.Esta campaña consiste en seis anuncios de televisión que se emitirán en lo que son considerados los estados “clave”

Hello, my name is Freddy Suastegui and I have been a resident of

Hollywood since the age of 5, when my family and I moved to Hollywood in 1989. I’ve attended our local schools and I am proud to call Hollywood my hometown. On October of 2011, along with my friends and family, I decided to run for Hollywood’s 6thdistrict commission seat. It was an easy decision for me as I look at the infrastructure, and the lack of growth in my hometown and notice that Hollywood is falling behind to our neighboring cities, something that should not be happening with all the resources Hollywood has to offer. With Hollywood’s tax base at 60%, it’s without question that we must attract new families to come into our community and help with our overwhelming foreclosure crisis. Furthermore, we need to increase our tax base in order to leverage taxes in the future and not overwhelm our current tax payers. One area I have researched is the growth of Hispanics in the city and county and also the growing Brazilian community in the Broward and Miami-Dade areas. When my family moved to Hollywood, the Hispanic population made up a little over 10% of the overall population. Today it is up over 32%, that’s a 100% increase every decade, a

statistic that should not be and cannot be over looked. We must as city and concerned citizens start to be proactive in the progression of Hollywood and look towards its future growth. Margaritaville on the beach, hopefully will begin construction soon, and once completed, will be a welcomed addition to our city. But, that is just one of the many steps that must be taken to attract new residents and tourism-- a major economic factor in any coastal South Florida city. I believe we must take an in depth look at our zoning and development plans and see where we can improve in order to drive more traffic to our local businesses and at the same time, showcase our city to potential future residents. Fiscal responsibility and the ability to budget is a major concern of mine and one I will work hard to ensure the city never has to claim financial urgency again. I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future as my campaign moves forward and encourage you to voice your concerns and opinions. es sólo uno de los muchos pasos que se deberían tomar para atraer a nuevos residentes y turismo - un

importante factor económico en cualquier

President Barack Obama’s campaign has launched an aggressive national effort called “Latinos for Obama” to energize and rally Latino voters who could help him carry key states like Colorado, Florida and Nevada and hand him a second term.“This election is an opportunity for the Latino community in this country to send a message” by helping “someone who stands on our side,” Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez told reporters on a conference call to unveil “Latinos for Obama.”“It’s no secret that Latinos will be a deciding factor in this election,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, says. The campaign also launched Spanish-language television ads in Colorado, Florida and Nevada that star Obama supporters touting the president’s commitment to financial aid for students, his landmark health care overhaul and his personal story. He actually visited

Florida twice in one week.In 2008, Obama carried Latino 68% margin over John McCain. Obama’s advantage was 67% in the latest Pew poll who account for 20 million Hispanic registered voters. However his shortcoming with the “Dream Act” may have a negative effect on the polls in November.The Republican National Committee this week launched an attempt to turn those fortunes around, targeting Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina and Virginia, you can ultimately have the deciding votes in this election. Romney has said that if elected, he would veto any Dream Act bill that reached his desk. That is an appealing stance for some voters.
