To learn vocabulary and commands used in the classroom

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning” In circle to play the game “What is your name?” Teacher asks singing to one

student What is your name? And the student answers singing with his/her

name My name is … then, that student ask singing to another student the

same question and he/she answer singing too. It is repeated with all the

students or if the group is bigger, with some of them.

To teach classroom commands and vocabulary through Flashcards. Teacher

shows the flashcard and explains it giving examples.

Workshop: Students must draw the classroom objects in the box below.

Oral questions: Teacher says a command, for example: “Open your books”

and the students must obey the order. Teacher can do it with all the

commands or some of them.

To establish behavior rules within the classroom.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning” To relate a short story and reflecting about the importance of having rules

in the classroom and obey them.

To make six groups and each group must propose one important rule for the

classroom.

After, in a democratic form we choose just six rules, the most important.

If some rule is repeated or isn’t so important, it must be changed.

Each group must write one rule, draw and decorate it in a cardboard.

Then, we stick each rule to a side of the classroom to decorate and

remember each one.

To learn the main colors and fruits in English.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”. To sing the “What Color is?”song.

To teach the colors and fruits through videos.

Worksheet: circle the correct name of the color.

To play “Fruit Dance” and “Colors Dance”:

Fruit Dance: each student is a fruit (the fruits are repeated) and teacher says

singing “to the (fruit) dance, for example: To the bananas dance, everybody jump

and dance, turn around and clap your hands” and all the students who are bananas

must do it. It is repeated with all the fruits.

Colors Dance: is the same of fruit dance, but with colors. For example: To the

yellow dance, everybody jump and dance, turn around and clap your hands” and all

the students who are the color yellow must do it. It is repeated with all the

fruits.

To teach the animals through pictures.

animals and the number of them, the students have to complete.

To resolve the guide together, in form of concourse: the first student who

raise his/her hand and answer correctly win one point.

To learn to differentiate the big things of the small things using

the words “big” and “small”, through shapes.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”. Show and talk about the different size of the things. About big things and

small things.

To Explain Big and Small with the didactics shapes and with other examples

(People, students and other things).

Game “The shapes”: There are shapes (big triangles, small triangles; big

squares, small squares and big circles, small circles). Teacher gives each

student one shape. And the students must obey to the action that teacher

says according to the shape they have, for example: all who have big circles

jump or, all who have big circles walk around, etc.

Worksheet: Circle the small things and draw a line under the big things.

In groups, the children must make a figure using big shapes and small

shapes.

In groups, to make a dramatization invented by the students of each group,

about a family. Each student must play a role.

To teach the feelings through flashcards in video. Play the video four

times: the first time, the children just listen; the second time, the

children say the feelings in Spanish; the third time, the children repeat

after the voice of the video, in English and the fourth time, the children

repeat in English, again.

Mime Game: in groups, one student of each group has to take a paper of a

bag, where is written a feeling, which he or she has to represent it with a

mime until the group guesses it. The time to guess the feeling is of 30

seconds.

Activity: Students must draw their family and specify who each one of

them is.

To reinforce the concepts studied in previous sessions through the

“store” game and music.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”

To explain the work rules and the moments of the session.

To remember the vocabulary learnt through the “1, 2, 3” song with mime.

I teach the song, then they have to repeat and finally we sing together.

To play the “store” game: there will be three stores; the first “Classroom

Objects Store”, second “Animals Store” and the third “Fruits Store”. In

each store will be five sellers with a color circle representative of the

store, example: blue for sellers of “Classroom Objects Store”, red for

sellers of “Animals Store” and yellow for sellers of “Fruits Store”. Besides

the three groups of sellers will represent families. The customers will have

a green circle and they have to choose a seller example: “the father”, to buy

something. This game will be in English, the sellers and the customers will

have to talk in English.

I will ask questions to the students, about the buying and sales they did.

To know some comparatives and superlatives through the “Olympics

Games London 2012”.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”.

Talk about the holidays and the “Olympics Games London 2012”.

To show videos about the “Olympic Games London 2012” and the eight

Colombians winners of medals, and talk about their skills as a sportsmen and

winners saying, for example: “He was stronger than other athletes” or “He

was the strongest of all”.

To write the superlatives learnt and draw it: Faster-fastest; stronger-

strongest; higher-highest; slower-slowest; lower-lowest.

To play the “Superlative Game”: I say one superlative and the students have

to do it.

To know the sports most known in English.

To talk about the sports, what sports they know or they have practiced and

then talk about the football and the Colombia's victories in this sport the

last games.

To teach the sports most known through flashcards, showing these several

times and repeating its names doing the children mimic the sports.

Teach the song “I like sports”: The first time, the children just listen; the

second time, the children repeat after the voice of the teacher, following

the mimic and the third time, everybody sing with mimic.

Mimic the sport: I say one of the sports and they have to mimic it and like

this with all the sports learnt.

To know the sports most known in English

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”.

To sing the song “I like sports”.

Teacher explains the rules and how to play some of the sports most known

by the children, like the football, the basketball or the volleyball, allowing

the participation of the students.

Activity: The students must coloring, cutting and pasting the pictures or

small flashcards of the sports on notebook in order and with good

presentation.

Mimic the sport: I say one of the sports and they have to mimic it and like

this with all the sports learnt.

To show what students know about their favorite sport and to

learn vocabulary about them.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning” Ask the students about their favorite sport and if they have played it

someday.

The board is divided with market according to the favorite sports of the

children. I show them an object picture of one sport and teacher chooses

an student who must go to the board and stick it in the part of the sport

that she/he believes appropriate; for example: I show skates and the

student must stick it in the part of skating, pronounce it in English and say

what is the function of that object.

Divide the class into groups according to the favorite sports. Those

children who like the football will be one group, those who like the cycling

will be another group, etc., but none must be alone. Each group must

prepare a sketch of the sport in Spanish, but used the vocabulary of the

sport in English. Each child of the group must play a role in that sketch.

Each group presents the sketch.

Some children must share their drawing and talk about their parent’s jobs.

To recognize the professions of some famous English

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”.

To sing the “When I grow up” song.

Showing a video of some famous people and talk about them and their

professions.

To prepare a sketch in groups of four students representing one of the

famous person. Each group chooses a different famous person, either alive

or dead and keeps their choice to themselves.

Each group comes to the front of the class and first, the other students

ask to the group some questions about the famous person to guess who is.

When they have an idea about the identity of the famous person, he or she

should raise her/his hand and say the person when He/she thinks they

have to guess correctly. It repeats with another Famous person group.

To learn vocabulary about different professions through the role

play.

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning” Teacher tells the students a story with pictures, about a famous person

(Juanes) who dreamed with being some important person when they would

grow up and nowadays they are. “When I grow up” story.

To talk about the story.

To explain and give examples about the phrase: “when I grow up, I want to

be…” and the activity of practice.

Each student must pass in front of the class to represent his or her

profession (Presentation previously prepared like homework). First each one

must say: “when I grow up, I want to be…” and then each one introduce her

or him as the professional like an act, saying: “Hello, I am …” and explain it.

For example: “Hello I am the teacher Andrea and my work is teaching to

the students”.

“WHEN I GROW UP” STORY

Once upon a time a boy who loved the music. His name is Juan. Juan was 6 years old and

he learnt to play several musical instruments and all the days he came to home, played

some instrument and sang. The music was his hobby. One day, someone asked him: What

do you want be when you grow up? And Juan answered with enthusiasm: “When I grow

up, I want to be musician and singer” and he always thought “when I grow up I’ll fulfill

my dream, When I grow up I’ll be famous…”When he was 15 years old, his guitar was

damage and he went where Andrés a young person who knew repair the guitar and he

loves the music too, so they started to rehearse and form a band of metal, rock and pop

and they had their first album. After some years, he starts to sing single and he had

several albums, he had several concerts, and he became famous. Juan or most known like

Juanes (nickname of child) is one of the artists more successful.

To learn the parts of the face in English.

To talk about the physical characteristics of the people giving examples

with some students and myself.

Through the flashcards video, I teach the parts of the face. It is showed

three times: first time, the students just listen and watch, then, they

repeat after the voice of the video and in the third time of this video the

children must repeat and show each part of their faces.

Worksheet: Student must cut and paste the parts of the face.

To learn the parts of the body in English

Welcome to children singing “Good Morning”. To sing “Head, Shoulders” Song.

To draw on the board a sketch of the human body and explain each part of

the body (head, arm, hand, shoulder, leg, finger, neck, foot, Knee and toes)

and then the students must show with their own bodies each of those

parts.

Worksheet: To cut labels of the parts of the body and paste each label

next to the correct part of the body.

To play “Simon Says” several times: Teacher says “Simon says touch your

(part of the body), for example: “Simon Says touch your nose”, and

students have to do it. It is repeated with all the parts of the body.
