A Message from Fr. Rolly… June 14, 2020

Solemnity of Corpus Christi

Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven;

whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give

is my flesh for the life of the world." [John 6: 51-52]

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, this Sunday we celebrated the liturgy of the

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known in Latin as Corpus Christi. In the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church (paragraph 1374), it states: “The Eucharist is raised above all

the other sacraments because the mode of Christ's presence is unique. In the Eucharist, "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really

and substantially contained" (Council of Trent). "This presence is called real because it is presence in the fullest

sense. It is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely

present" (Council of Trent).

This is the core teaching of the Catholic faith about the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Every time we celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we behold and experience the real presence of Christ in the little bread that we consume and the wine that we take in Holy Communion. We believe that essential

change in the bread and the wine happens after a validly ordained Roman Catholic priest consecrates them into Jesus’ body and blood. The process is called ‘Transubstantiation’.

It is always a great challenge on the part of the institutional church to inspire people and arrive at an

informed decision and conclusion that what they receive during Holy Communion time in the Mass is Jesus Christ himself in his totality, that is, His full humanity and divinity. Our faith in God who is constantly with us and among us, manifesting Himself in His totality in the form of bread and wine is constantly put into the

test. The world thinks and works in terms of empirical way of thinking. For the world, when something cannot be touched or felt or physically seen by the naked eye, it does not exist. This is when our deep faith

and trust in the Lord comes into play. It takes a deep faith in God shown to us in real time by His Son Jesus to arrive at an informed decision to believe that in the Eucharist, Jesus is really and fully present.

How can we show to the world that we are indeed a Eucharistic people? How can we prove to them that Jesus is really and fully present in the Eucharist we receive in Holy Communion at Mass? I believe it is us

ourselves who can prove it. Remember the saying, “You are what you eat.” It is not only words of wisdom applied to those who are trying to lose weight. It is an old saying that simply tells us that when you consume

Jesus in Holy Communion, you ought to be transformed and become like Him. Are you becoming like Him? This might be where the problem lies because for the most part most of us are not even close to becoming like

Jesus in words and in deeds. As we celebrate this wonderful mystery of our faith in Jesus, let us continue to pray for one another that we

may find a way to live our lives as a Eucharistic people, that is, to act and behave like Jesus is among us even in this time of uncertainty. To know that Jesus is here with us through our care for one another, makes life

wonderful and meaningful. Jesus, we trust that you are with us in the Holy Eucharist.

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Today is the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This day was once called Corpus Christi, which in Latin means "Body of Christ". In the revised Lectionary,

this day's name expands to more fully reflect our Eucharistic theology.

Today's Gospel is taken from the Gospel according to John. The reading is part of a speech between Jesus and a multitude of Jews. The speech comes shortly after the miracle of the multiplication of Jesus of the loaves and fishes. In the Gospel of John, miracles like these are identified as "signs" through which people believe that Jesus is

the Son of God. These signs are followed by a dialogue or speech that interprets and explains the miracle. In the Gospel of John, it is said that the multiplication of the loaves by Jesus happened near Passover, thus linking it with the story of the Exodus

and the action salvific of God towards the Israelites. After having seen Jesus multiply the loaves and fishes, the crowd chases him, perhaps

looking for more food but also looking for another sign. Jesus tells the crowd that he is

the bread of life. He explains that just as God gave the Israelites manna to sustain them in the wilderness, now God has sent a new manna that will give eternal life. Is in this context that Jesus repeats those words in today's Gospel and tells them again that he is

the living bread that came down from heaven. Jesus' words are not well understood by the crowd; They argue that Jesus is not from heaven, but was born of Mary and Joseph. The crowd also have trouble understanding

how Jesus was able to give them his meat to eat. Jesus tells them that when they eat their meat and they drink his blood, they will remain forever connected with him.

These are difficult words, but they are important because they seek to show us our

intimate connection with Jesus. This is the mystery that is at the heart of our Eucharistic theology. In the elements of bread and wine, the Body and Blood of Jesus are really present. When we share the

Body and Blood of Christ, Jesus himself comes to live within us. This communion with the Lord makes us one body, brings us eternal life and sends us to be the Body of Christ in the world.

Safeguard the Children Article Did You Know?

Teach children everyday

actions to reduce the

spread of germs

It is appropriate to frequently

remind your children about

ways to avoid or reduce the

spread of germs and to start

practicing at home. Among

the tips are: Stay away from

people who are coughing,

sneezing or sick. Remind

them to cough or sneeze into

a tissue or their elbow, then

throw the tissue into the

trash. Get the children into

a handwashing habit. Teach

them to wash their hands with

soap and water for at least 20

seconds, especially after

blowing their nose, coughing,

or sneezing; going to the

bathroom; and before eating

or preparing food. If soap and

water are not available, teach

them to use hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer should contain

at least 60% alcohol. Supervise

young children when they use

hand sanitizer to prevent

Masses at IHM Church

In person Masses, will only resume until all necessary requirements given to us by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, are met and the personal master plan required for our Church has been approved by our Regional Bishop, Edward Clark.

We will continue to live-stream our Masses on Facebook, for seniors, people that are ill and all those wish to stay home during this pandemic.

There will be a limited capacity of healthy parishioners allowed to enter the

church for each Mass in order to respect social distancing. Proper cleaning

protocols will be in place. A face mask will be mandatory at all times inside

and outside the Church premises. Temperature and hand sanitizing will also

be required. NO exceptions will be made!

SAINT ROMUALD

(c. 951-1027)

Feast Day: June 19

“God so loved the world,” declares John 3:16. “Do not love the world,” warns 1 John 2:15. The “world” to love: this planet, entrusted to our

stewardship, and its people, God’s children all. The “world” to flee:

“sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life” (1 John 2:16).

Born in nobility, Romuald’s conversion followed the shock of witnessing his

father murder an enemy. Renouncing his privileged world, Romuald sought

God’s world in monastic life. Its winding turns and several dead ends make Romuald’s journey resonate with all

who find life more maze than superhighway. Both the hermit’s

solitary struggle and community life’s unique challenges shaped Romuald’s

legacy: his vast Camaldolese Benedictine family of monks, nuns,

and lay associates who, these thousand years later, from the

mountain solitude of Camaldoli, Italy to an urban monastery in Berkeley, California—in Asia, Africa, South

America, Europe—integrate Romuald’s experience into their witness of solitary prayer, communal charity and worship,

and promotion of contemplative spirituality in this world that can so easily distract us from the God who

FOOD FROM HEAVEN

God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in

the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and

Moses doesn’t want them

to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses

doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells

them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their

ancestors before them had ever experienced before.

Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven,

food that the Jewish people

had never experienced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t

want them to forget it either, explaining that he is the

food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all

of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ.

Mensaje de nuestro parroco, Fr. Rolly… Solemnidad del Corpus Christi

Jesús dijo a las multitudes judías:

"Yo soy el pan vivo que descendió del cielo; el que coma este pan vivirá para siempre; y el pan que daré

es mi carne para la vida del mundo ". [Juan 6: 51-52]

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, este domingo celebramos la liturgia de la solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, también conocida en latín como Corpus Christi.

En el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica Romana (párrafo 1374), dice: “La Eucaristía se eleva por encima de

todos los demás sacramentos porque el modo de la presencia de Cristo es único. En la Eucaristía, "el cuerpo

y la sangre, junto con el alma y la divinidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y por lo tanto, todo Cristo está

verdaderamente, realmente y sustancialmente contenido" (Concilio de Trento). "Esta presencia se llama real porque es presencia en el sentido más completo. Es una presencia sustancial por la cual Cristo, Dios y el

hombre, se hace total y completamente presente "(Concilio de Trento). Esta es la enseñanza central de la fe católica sobre la presencia real de Jesucristo en la Sagrada Eucaristía.

Cada vez que celebramos el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa, contemplamos y experimentamos la presencia real de Cristo en el pequeño pan que consumimos y el vino que tomamos en la Sagrada Comunión. Creemos que

el cambio esencial en el pan y el vino ocurre después de que un sacerdote católico ordenado válidamente los consagra en el cuerpo y la sangre de Jesús. El proceso se llama "Transubstanciación".

Siempre es un gran desafío por parte de la iglesia institucional inspirar a las personas y llegar a un decisión informada y conclusión de que lo que reciben durante el tiempo de la Sagrada Comunión en la Misa es

Jesucristo mismo en su totalidad, es decir, Su humanidad y divinidad plenas. Nuestra fe en Dios, que está constantemente con nosotros y entre nosotros, manifestándose en su totalidad en forma de pan y vino, se

pone constantemente a prueba. El mundo piensa y trabaja en términos de forma empírica de pensar. Para el mundo, cuando algo no se puede tocar, sentir o ver físicamente a simple vista, no existe. Esto es cuando

nuestra profunda fe y confianza en el Señor entra en juego. Se necesita una fe profunda en Dios que nos muestra Su Hijo Jesús en tiempo real para llegar a una decisión informada de creer que en la Eucaristía, Jesús está realmente presente.

¿Cómo podemos mostrarle al mundo que realmente somos un pueblo eucarístico? ¿Cómo podemos de-

mostrarles que ¿Jesús está realmente presente en la Eucaristía que recibimos en la Sagrada Comunión en la Misa? Creo que somos nosotros mismos quienes podemos probarlo. Recuerda el dicho: "Eres lo que comes".

No son solo palabras de sabiduría aplicadas a aquellos que están tratando de perder peso. Es un viejo dicho que simplemente nos dice que cuando consumes a Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión, debes ser transformado y llegar a ser como Él. ¿Te estás volviendo como Él? Aquí podría ser donde radica el problema porque, en su

mayor parte, la mayoría de nosotros ni siquiera estamos cerca de llegar a ser como Jesús en palabras y en hechos.

Mientras celebramos este maravilloso misterio de nuestra fe en Jesús, sigamos orando los unos por los otros

para que podamos encontrar una manera de vivir nuestras vidas como pueblo eucarístico, es decir, actuar y comportarnos como Jesús está entre nosotros, incluso en este tiempo de incertidumbre. Saber que Jesús está aquí con nosotros a través de nuestro cuidado mutuo hace que la vida sea maravillosa y significativa. Jesús,

confiamos en que estás con nosotros en la Sagrada Eucaristía.

Mensaje de Padre Tino...

Solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo

Hoy es la solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y la Sangre de

Cristo. Este día una vez se llamó Corpus Christi, que en latín

significa "Cuerpo de Cristo". En el Leccionario revisado, el nombre de este día se expande para reflejar más completamente

nuestra teología eucarística.

El Evangelio de hoy está tomado del Evangelio según Juan. La lectura es parte de un discurso

entre Jesús y una multitud de judíos. El discurso llega poco después del milagro de la

multiplicación de Jesús de los panes y los peces. En el Evangelio de Juan, milagros como este se identifican como "signos" a través de los cuales las personas creen que Jesús es el

Hijo de Dios. Estos signos son seguidos por un diálogo o discurso que interpreta y explica el

milagro. En el Evangelio de Juan, se dice que la multiplicación de los panes por parte de Jesús ocurrió cerca de la Pascua, vinculándola así con la historia del Éxodo y la acción

salvífica de Dios hacia los israelitas.

Después de haber visto a Jesús multiplicar los panes y los peces, la multitud lo persigue, tal

vez buscando más comida pero también buscando otra señal. Jesús le dice a la multitud que

él es el pan de vida. Él explica que así como Dios le dio a los israelitas el maná para sostenerlos en el desierto, ahora Dios ha enviado un nuevo maná que dará vida eterna. Es

en este contexto que Jesús repite esas palabras en el Evangelio de hoy y les dice nuevamente

que él es el pan vivo que descendió del cielo.

Las palabras de Jesús no son bien entendidas por la multitud; Argumentan que Jesús no es

del cielo, sino que nació de María y José. La multitud también tiene problemas para entender

cómo Jesús pudo darles su carne para comer. Jesús les dice que cuando comen su carne y beben su sangre, permanecerán para siempre conectados con él. Estas son palabras difíciles,

pero son importantes porque buscan mostrarnos nuestra conexión íntima con Jesús.

Este es el misterio que está en el corazón de nuestra teología eucarística. En los elementos del

pan y el vino, el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesús están realmente presentes. Cuando compartimos

el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, Jesús mismo viene a vivir dentro de nosotros. Esta comunión con el Señor nos hace un solo cuerpo, nos trae la vida eterna y nos envía a ser el Cuerpo de

Cristo en el mundo.

Articulo de Salvaguardando a los Niños

Enseñe a sus hijos actividades diarias para reducir la

propagación de los gérmenes

Siempre es apropiado recordarles a sus hijos con frecuencia las formas

de evitar o reducir la propagación de los gérmenes para que los

empiecen a practicar en el hogar. Entre los consejos están: Alejarse

de las personas que estén tosiendo, estornudando o enfermas.

Recuérdeles que ellos mismos deben toser o estornudar siempre

tapándose la boca con un pañuelo de papel o colocando su boca

sobre su codo, y que luego deben tirar el pañuelo de papel a la basura.

Enseñe a sus hijos a desarrollar el hábito de lavarse las manos con

frecuencia. Enséñeles a lavarse las manos con agua y jabón durante por

lo menos 20 segundos, especialmente después de que se suenen la

nariz, después de toser o de estornudar; de ir al baño; y antes de

comer o de preparar la comida. Si no hay agua y jabón disponible,

enséñeles cómo usar los desinfectantes de manos. Estos desinfectantes

deben contener al menos 60 por ciento de alcohol. Supervise a los

niños pequeños cuando usen el desinfectante de manos para prevenir

Misas en Inmaculado Corazon de Maria

Las misas en persona, solo se reanudarán hasta que sea necesario los requisitos que nos dio el Arzobispo de Los Ángeles se cumplen y el plan maestro personalizado para la parroquia requerido haya sido aprobado por nuestro Obispo regional, Edward Clark. Continuaremos transmitiendo en vivo nuestras Misas en Facebook, para personas mayores, personas enfermas y todos aquellos que deseen quedarse en casa durante esta pandemia. Habrá una capacidad limitada de feligreses saludables que se les permitira

ingresar a la iglesia por cada misa con el fin de respetar el distanciamiento

social. Limpieza adecuada y protocolos estarán en lugar. Una mascarilla

será obligatoria adentro de la Iglesia y afuera de los perimetros parroquiales.

Requeriremos tomarles la temperatura y pondra desinfectante de manos. No

se harán excepciones! Este al pendiente de nuestras redes sociales y Misas donde les proporcionaremos más información detallada para el nuevo proceso de asistir a la Iglesia.

San Romualdo

(c. 950-1027)

Festividad: 19 de junio

Romualdo fue el padre fundador de los monjes camaldulenses,

imponiendo en ellos reglas más severas que las que san Benedicto había impuesto en su monasterio. Un hecho que transformó su vida

fue el ver a su padre batirse a duelo, dando muerte a otra

persona. Puesto que el rey Otón III lo había nombrado Abad,

renunció al cargo por considerarlo de mucho prestigio para él,

porque lo único que deseaba era ser un simple monje dedicado a la contemplación y la vida ermitaña.

Con este espíritu viajó por toda Italia erigiendo ermitas y fundando conventos. Su

capacidad de conversión era notable, pues llegó a convencer a su mismo padre de que se hiciera monje. De profundo amor a Dios y de voluntad férrea, quiso ser

mártir y pidió al papa su permiso para ir a predicar el Evangelio a Hungría, pero cada vez que lo

intentaba se enfermaba, así comprendió que Dios deseaba

que se estableciera en el monasterio y reformara la vida tan holgada de muchos monjes

de su tiempo, tarea que logró más allá de lo esperado.

ALIMENTO CELESTIAL

Dios sostentó al pueblo de Israel por cuarenta años en

el desierto con maná venido del cielo, y Moisés no quiere

que lo olviden. Dios hizo

brotar agua de la roca para que bebieran, y Moisés

tampoco quiere que olviden

esto. Y Moisés se lo dice –dos veces—que el alimento que

Dios envió era comida que ni ellos ni sus antepasados

jamás habían probado antes.

Jesús, también habla del pan venido del cielo, comida

que el pueblo judío jamás había probado antes.

Recordando el maná del

desierto, Jesús tampoco quiere que ellos lo olviden, explicándoles que él es pan

y bebida para la vida eterna. Y Pablo les reitera a los

corintios y a todos nosotros que en el pan y en la copa

participamos en el Cuerpo y
