    HISTORY

    The group takes the name of its

    founder, Jamsedji Tata, a member of whose

    family has almost invariably been the chairman

    of the group.

    The current chairman of the Tata group

    is Ratan Tata, who took over from J. R. D. Tata in

    1991 and is currently one of the major

    international business figures in the ageof globality.

    The company is currently in its fifth generation

    of family stewardship.

    The Tata Group isa multinational conglomerate company headquarteredin Mumbai, India.

    In terms of market capitalization and revenues, TataGroup is the largest private corporate group in Indiaand has been recognized as one of the most respectedcompanies in the world.

    Tata Motors Ltd is a multinational

    corporation headquartered in Mumbai, India. Part of

    the Tata Group, it was formerly known as TELCO (TATA

    MANUFACTURING

    InIndia till 2004-05, Tata motors had 3 plants atJamshedpur, Pune and Lucknow with aggregate

    manufacturing capacity of 5,14,500 vehicles

    established over a period of 60 yrs. Tata motors have expanded their manufacturing

    capacity, hence have produced 12,75,000 vehicles.

    Tata motors have ventured into foreign

    development which led to development of Tatamotors Thailand ltd. In South Korea and Thailand ,Tata Hispano Carrocera S.A. in Spain and Morocco.Also, Jaguar and Land Rover in UK.

    Road development : Improvement in road infrastructure at afaster pace will facilitate swifter transportation of goods and

    passengers, and would inturn create a demand for safer,

    reliable and faster vehicles.

    Growing consumer culture : Consumerism is also expected to

    lead to an increase in carpenetration from the current levels

    of 8 per thousand towards the 500+ levels witnessed in the

    developed countries

    International business : The Company is also setting up/

    exploring manufacturing footprint overseas, which would

    combine these advantages with local operations and sourcing

    Fuel Prices: As compared to the volatility in international oil

    prices in 2008 - 09, the fuel price has remained high at about

    US$85 in 2009-10

    countries in which we operate. These risks primarily relate to

    fluctuations of Pound to US Dollar, Japanese Yen and Euro,

    Euro. Input Costs: With many economies coming out of recession,

    prices of commodity items like steel, non-ferrous, precious

    metals, rubber and petroleum products are expected to rise
