ISTORIA

La

alegre Julia y la pelirroja Lena, dos

chicas adolescentes de Moscú,

conocidas como t.A.T.u, forman una

gran promesa rusa dentro de los

prodigios actuales del pop.

t.A.T.u. se convirtió en el grupo más

explosivo y escandaloso en el este de

Europa con el single "Ya Soshla S

Uma" (All The Things She Said), la

historia de amor entre dos chicas

jóvenes y cuyo videoclip fue nombrado

Vídeo del año de la MTV rusa. "200

km/h in the Wrong Lane", el álbum

debut de t.A.T.u. en el año 2001 vendió

más de 1.000.000 de copias, y a su

gira asistieron más de 50.000 fans.

Yulia Volkova nació en Moscú, Rusia,

un febrero 20 de 1985. (Piscis) Sus

padres Larissa Volkova (Estilista) y

Oleg Wolves (Maestro de escuela) solo

la tuvieron a ella como hija única.

Yulia anteriormente al dueto t.A.T.u.

participó en comerciales y en un show

de comedia llamado "Éralas". Además

de cantar también puede tocar el piano.

Elena Katina nació en Moscú, Rusia,

un octubre 4 de 1984 (Libra). Sus

padres Sergey Katin (Músico y

compositor profesional) e Inessa Katina

(Vendedora de prendas de Moda)

tuvieron 3 hijos de los cuales Elena es

la mas joven. Yulia y Elena

pertenecieron anteriormente a un grupo

llamado "Neposedi", pero Elena ya

había integrado otra agrupación infantil

llamada "avenue".

Elena tiene problemas de presión alta,

aún así accedió a la petición de bajar

10Kg cuando se inició en t.A.T.u.

Descripta como la mas dulce y calmada

del dueto t.A.T.u. Elena gusta de pasar

su tiempo libre montando a caballo,

nadando, practicando gimnasia o

patinaje artístico.

Lo mas interesante o llamativo de este

grupo no es quizás su música, sino el

hecho de que en la mayoría de sus

shows y la imagen misma del dúo,

buscan aparentar o presumir que son

pareja. Lo cierto es que mientras

estuvieron en la cima de la fama y

durante la gira promocional de su

primer disco, no se sabía a ciencia

cierta si realmente eran lo que

aparentaban ser o simplemente lo

hacían como estrategia de marketing.

Sería casi tapar el sol con un dedo

desconocer que las chicas ocuparon

más titulares por su supuesto

lesbianismo y sus besos y coqueteos

en escena que por su música. Lo cierto

que todo indica que no fue más que un

truco de marketing, el cual se derrumbó

a comienzos del 2004 cuando las

jovencitas confesaron que no estaban

enamoradas, que no se casarían y que

no les gustaban las personas de su

mismo sexo.

Se aburrieron, se desligaron del

manager Ivan Shapovalov e incluso

amenazaron con cambiar el nombre del

dúo.

Eso, en términos profesionales, porque

a nivel personal Julia (la morena) fue

mamá de una pequeña llamada Vika,

cuyo padre es Pasha, uno de los

integrantes de la banda que toca con el

dúo.

Para octubre del 2005 las t.A.T.u.

vuelven con su segundo disco titulado

"Dangerous and Moving". El álbum

tendrá dos versiones: una en inglés

para el mercado internacional y otra en

su idioma natal para el mercado ruso.

El primer single se titula "All About Us".

Para este disco cuentan con la

colaboración de renombrados artistas

como Sting, quien toca el bajo en el

tema "Friend Or Foe", y Richard

Carpenter, líder de los extintos The

Carpenters, quien realiza todos los

arreglos de cuerda del álbum y canta

junto a Lena y Yulia en ‘Gomenasai’.

"Dangerous And Moving" continúa en la

misma línea pop de su debut, con

tímidas incursiones en el rock y la

música electrónica.

Tan solo un año después de su último

disco, y con solo 2 placas en su haber,

las rusas lanzan su disco de grandes

éxitos. "The best" incluye sus grandes

exitos, remixes, un DVD con videos,

incluido "all about us" sin censura, y 3

nuevos temas: Null and Void, A Simple

Move (British Ballad Version) y el

primer sencillo "Loves Me Not".

A fines de diciembre, Yulia tiene a su

segunda hija y el dúo anuncia la salida

de su tercer disco en ruso "Upravleniye

Otbrosami" ("Waste management" en

su version en inglés) para inicios de

2009.

Conjuntamente, se espera el

lanzamiento de la película "Finding

t.A.T.u." la cual narra la historia de dos

chicas fanáticas del dúo que viven un

romance, basada en el libro "t.A.T.u.

Come Back".
