Hai dez anos naceu este festival, froito da vontade dunha familia de achegar as súas raíces á cidade na que fundou o seu fogar e na que nacín eu. Por iso, cando nalgunha ocasión desde algún medio estranxeiro me preguntan cal é a razón de facer este festival nunha pequena cidade do norte, contesto que supoño que por amor e por egoísmo.

Ninguén nos obrigou a crear este festival hai 10 anos, pero foi o noso modo de amar esta cidade e os que son parte dela. De darlles o que ningunha crise, ningún banco ou ningún recorte orzamentario poderá quitarlles aos espectadores deste festival: a riqueza de ser parte de algo tan grande como a cultura, e, á súa vez, facelos partícipes da liberdade e a esperanza de 300.000 millóns de persoas dentro do mundo árabe.

O futuro é incerto e esta crise quizais acabe afogando este festival, como �� Ƥ�� Ó�� Ǥ�Por iso, nesta edición quero celebrar con todos os espectadores o noso décimo aniversario. Para recordarlles que as persoas somos un cúmulo de experiencias, recordos e soños e que ninguén nos poderá arrebatar 10 anos nos que vós e nós crecemos nunha viaxe de cine.

��±��À��ǣ��×��Ƥ��formar parte de Amal, de dicirlle ao mundo árabe que o seu é un pobo valente e que cada espectador desde a súa butaca puido e pode derrubar os muros do medo e a ignorancia. Vexo que non perdemos a nosa independencia, que sempre estará por riba da política e da economía. O noso único motivo foi facervos partícipes do noso amor á cultura e ás persoas.

O meu agradecemento a todos os partícipes de Amal ao longo deste tempo, a todas as persoas que pasaron polo equipo deste festival durante estes anos, aos directores, produtores, actores… aos voluntarios, aos técnicos, os colaboradores e patrocinadores, á familia Araguaney, á miña familia. E sobre todo a ti por nos axudares a chegar tan lonxe desde a túa butaca.

Hace 10 años nació este festival, fruto de la voluntad de una familia por

acercar sus raíces a la cuidad en la hizo su hogar y en la que nací. Por eso,

cuando en alguna ocasión en algún medio extranjero me preguntan el porqué

de hacer este festival en una pequeña ciudad del norte, contesto que supongo

que por amor y egoísmo.

Nadie nos obligó a crear este festival hace 10 años, pero fue nuestra manera

de querer a esta ciudad y a quienes son parte de ella. De darles lo que ninguna

crisis, ningún banco o ningún recorte presupuestario podrá quitarles a los

espectadores de este festival: la riqueza de ser parte de algo tan grande como

la cultura, y, a su vez, hacerles partícipes de la libertad y la esperanza de

300.000 millones de personas dentro del mundo árabe.

El futuro es incierto y quizás esta crisis termine ahogando este festival,

como ya ha hecho con tantas historias y tantos sueños durante estos años.

Por eso, en esta edición quiero celebrar con todos los espectadores nuestro

décimo aniversario. Para recordarles que las personas somos el cúmulo de

experiencias, recuerdos, sueños. Que nadie nos podrá arrebatar 10 años en los

que vosotros y nosotros hemos crecido en un viaje de cine.

Y he aquí la parte egoísta de esto: vosotros me habéis hecho sentirme orgulloso

de formar parte de Amal, de decirle al mundo árabe que este pueblo es valiente

y que cada espectador desde su butaca pudo y puede derribar los muros del

miedo y la ignorancia. Saber que no hemos perdido nuestra independencia, la

cual está por encima de la política y la economía. Nuestro único motivo ha sido

haceros partícipes de nuestro amor a la cultura y a las personas.

Quiero agradecer a todos los que han sido parte de Amal durante este tiempo,

todas las personas que han pasado por el equipo de este festival durante estos

años, a los directores, productores, actores,… los voluntarios, los técnicos, los

colaboradores y patrocinadores, la familia Araguaney, a mi familia. Y sobre

todo a ti por habernos ayudado a llegar tan lejos desde tu butaca.

10 years ago, this festival was born, fruit of the wish one family to bring their roots closer to a city which had become their home and where I was born. This is why, when I am sometimes asked by foreign press why this festival takes place in this small northern town, I answer that I suppose it is because it is done with love ��Ƥ��Ǥ

Nobody forced us to do this festival 10 years ago, but it was our way of loving this city and those who form part of it. To give them something that no recession, no bank or budget cut can take away from this festival’s spectators: the wealth of being part of something bigger like culture, and, at the same time, to make them participants of the freedom and hope of the Arab world’s more than 300.000 million people.

The future is uncertain and maybe this recession will end up choking this festival, as it has done with so many stories and dreams these last few years. This is why, this year, I want us all to celebrate this tenth anniversary, and to remind us all that people are their experiences, memories, dreams and that nobody can take away ��Ƥ��Ǥ�

�� Ƥ�� ǣ��part of Amal, of telling the Arab world that we are a brave people and that each spectator from his seat can and will tear down the walls of fear and ignorance. To know that we have not lost our independence which is above politics and the economy, and that our only motive has been to make you a participant of our love of culture and people.

I want to thank all those who have participated in Amal during this time, all those who have been part of the festival team during these years, the directors, producers, actors…the volunteers, the technicians, the collaborators and sponsors, the Araguaney family, my family and, above all else, you, for helping us come this far from your theatre seat.

Hai 28 anos naceu a Fundación Araguaney-Puente de Culturas. Ponte entre o Occidente no que vivimos e o Oriente que descoñecemos nas súas esencias, problemas, valores... Hai 28 anos comezamos o noso traballo coa esperanza de achegar unha visión que complete a nosa cultura persoal e, por iso, eliximos o cine e a música como canles de comunicación, e como piares para esta ponte de culturas. Cine de autor con historias reais, sen efectos especiais nin ficcións manipulantes. Producións feitas por Occidentais e Orientais, socios profesional e culturalmente. AMAL é o nome co que naceu este festival e que agora cumpre a súa X edición. Amal significa esperanza e a esperanza é o motor para a vida humana. E tamén naceu GHAZAL (que significa sedución), outra manifestación cultural, neste caso a través da música.

Dende AMAL, GHAZAL e a Fundación Araguaney sempre tratamos de cruzar a ponte, para conseguir unir os dous lados e convertelos nunha soa cultura, a universal, a da convivencia e a tolerancia.

A cultura dos pobos é a cultura dos seus homes e mulleres. Homes como o noso querido Óscar Refoxo, humanista, vitalista e amigo. Home de cultura galega universal. A el quero render homenaxe nesta décima edición (2012) en nome do Padroado da Fundación Araguaney-Puente de Culturas e de todos os amigos do Festival Internacional de Cine Euroárabe AMAL.

AMAL es el nombre con el que nació este festival y que ahora cumple su X edición. Amal significa esperanza y la esperanza es el motor para la vida humana. Y también nació GHAZAL (que significa seducción), otra manifestación cultural, en este caso a través de la música.

Desde AMAL, GHAZAL y la Fundación Araguaney siempre hemos tratado de cruzar el puente, para conseguir unir los dos lados y convertirlos en una sola cultura, la universal, la de la convivencia y la tolerancia.

La cultura de los pueblos es la cultura de sus hombres y mujeres. Hombres como nuestro querido Óscar Refoxo, humanista, vitalista y amigo. Hombre de cultura gallega universal. A él quiero rendir homenaje en esta décima edición (2012) en nombre del Patronato de la Fundación Araguaney-Puente de Culturas y de todos los amigos del Festival Internacional de Cine Euroárabe AMAL.


Twenty eight years ago the Araguaney-Bridge between Cultures Foundation was born. A bridge between the west, where we live, and the Orient, whose essence, problems, values… are unknown. Twenty eight years ago we started this endeavour with the hope of adding a vision that would complete our personal culture and, to do this, we chose film and music as communication channels, and as pillars for this bridge between cultures. Auteur films with real stories, with no special effects or manipulative storylines. Productions made by westerners and easterners, professional and cultural partners. AMAL is the name with which this festival was born and that now reaches its X edition. Amal means hope and hope is the motor of human life. And Ghazal (which means seduction), another cultural manifestation, was born, in this case through music.

From AMAL, GHAZAL and the Araguaney Foundation, we have always endeavoured to cross the bridge, to bring both sides together to become one culture, universal, that of coexistence and tolerance. The culture of a people is the culture of its men and women. Men like our beloved Oscar Refoxo, humanist, vital and a friend. A man with a universal Galician culture. I want to honour him in this tenth edition (2012), in the name of the Board of the Araguaney-Bridge between Cultures Foundation, and of all his friends at the International Euroarab Film Festival AMAL.


AMAL significa “esperanza”. Creo que esa é a palabra para chegar ao público.

Hai uns días lía nalgún medio que tiñamos que esquecérsenos de esperanzas, que debiamos ir vivindo o día a día de ilusións. Eu non o creo, considero que temos que basearnos na esperanza. A esperanza por conseguir que todo mellore.

Naveguei por internet e unha frase sorprendeume. Dicía algo así como que ao cine árabe e ao cine español só os separan catorce quilómetros, pero que parece que están distanciados por millóns de anos luz.

Iniciativas como Amal son as que necesita o público nunha cidade como a nosa, que carece de ocasións para poder visionar filmes non comerciais e favorecidos polos mesmos distribuidores de sempre. O feito de que se desenvolva unha serie de actividades culturais reforzando a idea de achegar o mundo árabe, tan descoñecido para nós, paréceme fundamental para pulir e tirar dunha vez por todas con todos os prexuízos que imperan na nosa sociedade. É polo tanto necesario que este tipo de actividades se sigan levando a cabo, son a pedra angular para que a concienciación da xente se xeneralice.

AMAL significa “esperanza”. Creo que esa es la palabra para llegar al público.

Hace unos días leía en algún medio que teníamos que olvidarnos de esperanzas, que debíamos ir viviendo el día a día de ilusiones. Yo no lo creo, considero que tenemos que basarnos en la esperanza. La esperanza por conseguir que todo mejore.

Navegué por internet y una frase me sorprendió. Decía algo así como que al cine árabe y al cine español sólo lo separan catorce kilómetros, pero que parece que están distanciados por millones de años luz.

Iniciativas como Amal son las que necesita el público en una ciudad como la nuestra, que carece de ocasiones para poder visionar películas no comerciales y favorecidas por los mismos distribuidores de siempre. El hecho de que se desarrolle una serie de actividades culturales reforzando la idea de acercar el mundo árabe, tan desconocido para nosotros, me parece fundamental para pulir y tirar de una vez por todas con todos los prejuicios que imperan en nuestra sociedad. Es por lo tanto necesario que este tipo de actividades se sigan llevando a cabo, son la piedra angular para que la concienciación de la gente se generalice.

Amal means “hope”. I think that’s the word to reach the public.

A few days ago, I read somewhere that we had to forget hope; that we had to live on a day by day basis of illusion. I don’t believe it, I consider that we have to use hope as a basis. The hope that thing will get better.

I surfed the web and a phrase surprised me. It said something along the lines of Arab and Spanish cinema are only separated by fourteen kilometres but it seems that they are distanced by light years.

Initiatives like Amal are what the public needs in a city like ours, that lacks opportunities to watch non commercial cinema and where the same old distributors are the only ones favoured. The fact that a series of cultural initiatives are developed to strengthen the idea of bringing the Arab world closer, such an unknown for us, is fundamental, I believe, to polish and throw away, once and for all, the prejudice rampant in our society. It is necessary that this type of activity take place, it’s the angular stone for people’s conscience to develop.

Amal é unha cita co mundo desde Santiago de Compostela e por iso

apoia o diálogo entre o mundo árabe e a arte galega. Todas e todos

os gañadores do festival reciben un premio en metálico e un trofeo

de bronce creado polo escultor galego Acisclo Manzano (Ourense,

1940). Membro da Academia Galega de Belas Artes, premiado

internacionalmente e con representación en numerosas coleccións

públicas e privadas, cada un dos seus trofeos simboliza o espírito de

paz e de esperanza que definen o Festival Amal.

Amal es una cita con el mundo desde Santiago de Compostela y por eso

apoya el diálogo entre el mundo árabe y el arte gallego. Todas y todos los

ganadores del Festival reciben un premio en metálico y un trofeo de bronce

creado por el escultor gallego Acisclo Manzano (Ourense, 1940). Miembro

de la Academia Gallega de Bellas Artes, premiado internacionalmente y

representado en numerosas colecciones públicas y privadas, cada trofeo

suyo simboliza el espíritu de paz y de esperanza que definen el Festival.

Amal is a meeting point with the world which takes place in Santiago

de Compostela, it encourages dialogue between the Arab world and

Galician art. All the Festival winners receive a cash prize and a bronze

trophy created by sculpture Acisclo Manzano (Ourense, 1940). Member

of the Galician Academy of Fine Art; internationally awarded and

present in many public and private art collections, each of his trophies

symbolises the spirit of peace and hope that define our Festival.

Amal cumpre 10 anos. 10 anos durante os cales prestixiosas

personalidades procedentes de todo o mundo e vinculadas á cultura

árabe pisaron a alfombra vermella do Festival para formar parte do

Xurado Amal. A súa responsabilidade: outorgar os premios ás mellores

producións cinematográficas euroárabes actuais da selección oficial ,

aos seus creadores e aos seus protagonistas.

Amal cumple 10 años. 10 años durante los cuales prestigiosas personalidades procedentes de todo el mundo y vinculadas a la cultura árabe pisaron la alfombra roja del Festival para formar parte del Jurado Amal. Su responsabilidad: otorgar los premios a las mejores producciones cinematográficas euroárabes actuales de la selección oficial, a sus creadores y a sus protagonistas.

Amal is 10 years old. During 10 years, renowned personalities from

around current Euro-Arab film world trod the red carpet to join the

Amal Festival Jury. Their responsibility: to award the best Euro-Arab

film productions in official selection, its creators and its actors.

Sanâa Alaoui é unha actriz francesa de orixe marroquí. En 2007 recibiu o Premio ao primeiro papel feminino no Festival Nacional de Cine Marroquí pola súa interpretación en “A Beauté éparpillée » de Lahcen Zinoun. Traballou na maioría das cadeas de televisión francesas en series televisivas, así coma nunha ducia de longametraxes internacionais. En 2009 recibiu o premio “Novo Talento” no Medfilm Festival en honor a toda a súa carreira. Actualmente está a promover a película “A Sirène Marocaine”, de Lars Jessen.

Sanâa Alaoui es una actriz francesa de origen marroquí. En 2007 recibió el Premio al primer papel femenino en el Festival Nacional de Cine Marroquí por su interpretación en “La Beauté éparpillée » de Lahcen Zinoun. Trabajó en la mayoría de las cadenas de televisión francesas en series televisivas, así como en una docena de largometrajes

internacionales. En 2009 recibió el premio “Nuevo Talento” en el Medfilm Festival en honor a toda su carrera. Actualmente está promocionando la película “La Sirène Marocaine”, de Lars Jessen.

Sanâa Alaoui is a French actress of Moroccan origin. In 2007 she received the Best Newcomer Prize at the National Film Festival in Morocco for her interpretation in “La Beauté éparpillée” by Lahcen Zinoun. She has worked in many TV productions for French channels as well as in a dozen international films. In 2009 she received the New Talent Prize at the Medfilm Festival to honor her whole career. She is currently promoting film “La Sirène Marocaine” by Lars Jessen.

Economista e militar retirado, Jesús Núñez é Codirector do Instituto de Estudos sobre Conflitos e Acción Humanitaria e especialista en temas de seguridade, construción da paz e prevención de conflitos, con especial atención ao mundo árabo-musulmán. Exerce como profesor da Universidade Pontificia Comillas e é vogal do Comité Español da Axencia das Nacións Unidas para os Refuxiados Palestinos. Consultor do Programa das Nacións Unidas para o Desenvolvemento no ámbito da construción da paz e a prevención de conflitos violentos, tamén colabora con diferentes medios de comunicación.

Economista y militar retirado, Jesús Núñez es Codirector del Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria y especialista en temas de seguridad, construcción de la paz y prevención de conflictos, con especial atención al mundo árabo-musulmán. Ejerce como profesor de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y es vocal del

Comité Español de la Agencia de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados Palestinos. Consultor del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo en el ámbito de la construcción de la paz y la prevención de conflictos violentos, también colabora con diferentes medios de comunicación.

Economist and ex-soldier, Jesus Nuñez is Coordinator of the Institute for the Study of Conflict and Humanitarian Action (Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria) and a specialist in security, peace processes and prevention of conflicts, specialized in the Arab-Muslim world. He is also a professor at the Ponticia Comillas University and vocal for the Spanish Committee of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees. Consultant for the United Nations Programme for Peace and the Prevention of Violent conflict, he also collaborates with different types of media.

Filólogo e guionista de formación, Alfonso Pato é o principal impulsor do coñecido festival de curtas de Cans (O Porriño). Ademáis, ten desenvolvido a súa carreira como director do popular programa “Onda Curta” da Galega e en diversos medios de comunicación como os magacíns de TVE-G “¡Que serán!” (1999) e “Boa tarde” (2000). É colaborador en temas musicais, de cinema e televisión na edición galega do xornal “El País” e foi nomeado vogal da Asociación Galega de Guionistas (AGAG) en 2011.

Filólogo y guionista de formación, Alfonso Pato es el principal impulsor del conocido festival de cortos de Cans (O Porriño). Además, ha desarrollado su carrera como director del popular programa “ Onda Curta “ en la Gallega y en diversos medios de comunicación como los magazines de TVE-Gr “¡Que serán!” (1999) y “Boa tarde” (2000).

Es colaborador en temas musicales, de cine y televisión en la edición gallega del diario “Él País” y fue nombrado vocal de la Asociación Gallega de Guionistas (AGAG) en 2011.

Philologist and scriptwriter, Alfonso Pato is the main force behind the well known Spanish Cans short film festival, celebrated in Porriño. He has also directed TV programmes “Onda Curta” for regional broadcaster TVG and for TVE-G (regional broadcast) programme “Qué Serán!” (1999) and “Boa Tarde” (2000). He is music, film & TV correspondent for El Pais newspaper’s Galician edition and has been named vocal for the Galician Scriptwriter’s Association (AGAG) in 2011.

Tahar Houchi licenciouse en Letras e Lingüística francesa na universidade de Alxer, e completou os seus estudos en Xenebra e en Lyon. Tamén ten unha formación de xornalista sobre o terreo, antes de especializarse en crítica cinematográfica. É membro da Asociación suíza de xornalistas especializados e da Asociación suíza de xornalistas cinematográficos. Despois de traballar para varios xornais nacionais e internacionais e cubrir varios festivais como Cannes, Venecia, Dubai e Berlín, decide fundar e dirixir o seu propio Festival de Cine Oriental en Xenebra (FIFOG).

Tahar Houchi se licenció en Letras y Lingüística francesa en la universidad de Argel, y completó sus estudios en Ginebra y en Lyon. También tiene una formación de periodista sobre el terreno, antes de especializarse en crítica cinematográfica. Es miembro de la Asociación suiza de periodistas

especializados y de la Asociación suiza de periodistas cinematográficos. Después de haber trabajado para varios periódicos nacionales e internacionales y haber cubierto varios festivales como Cannes, Venecia, Dubai y Berlín, decide fundar y dirigir su propio Festival de Cine Oriental en Ginebra (FIFOG).

ahar Houchi is a graduate of Linguistics and French by the University of Algiers, and completed his studies in Geneva and Lyon. He has also received training as a field journalist, before specializing in film review. He is a member of the Swiss Association of Specialized Journalists and the Swiss Association of Film Journalists. After working for different national and international newspapers and covering numerous film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Dubai and Berlin, he has founded and directs his own Oriental Film in Geneva (FIFOG).

enmudecidos”. Durante ese tempo, preto de trescentos filmes (co)

producidos por países árabes pasaron por Amal. Para moitos deles,

Santiago de Compostela foi a cidade na que puideron estrearse ante un

público novo, Europa, e abrirse camiño cara ao resto do mundo.

O Festival Amal e Santiago de Compostela acolleron ao longo destes

anos varias xeracións de directores e directoras, como pode ser o caso

dos Khleifi: Michel, o mestre do cine palestino, quen estaba presente

na primeira edición de Amal en 2003 con Voda en Galilea, e Naël, o seu

fillo, quen nos presenta dez anos despois o seu traballo en Waiting,

edition this year under the motto “Ten years giving a voice to those

silenced”. During this time, nearly three hundred films (co)produced

by Arab countries have been projected in Amal. For many of them,

Santiago de Compostela has been the city where they have been

premiered for a new public, Europe, and have opened a path to the rest

of the world.

The Amal Festival and Santiago de Compostela have welcomed during

these years different generations of directors, such as the Khleifis:

Open, musically speaking, energetic and prolific in rhyme, with an amazing stage presence, H-Kayne proves to be a vital paradigm of the new generation of Moroccan hip hop.

H-Kayne is a question in Arabic which translates as “What’s up?” and one of the best current hip hop groups. With a pure groovy sound and oriental influences, powerful scratches, their lyrics are the complete opposite of gangsta rap and, like Amal, transmit hope. This year the Festival will give them a voice in its opening which celebrates its X anniversary. The X Edition of the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal will once again celebrate the Amal Workshops. The objective is to promote different aspects of Arab culture. To do so, Amal organises two courses: an Oriental Dance Workshop and an Arab Calligraphy Workshop.The Dance Workshop will take place on Saturday October 13, from 11.00h to 13.00h at the Hotel Araguaney. The International Euroarab Film Festival Amal once again celebrates its short film competition Amal Express, in collaboration with adnstream.tv and the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Amal Express consists of creating a short film in an “express” 96 hours based on a key word supplied by the Amal Festival organisation. This initiative encourages creativity and innovation, promoting culture in digital formats through film.

The key word around which the short films need to revolve will be revealed on October 13 2012 at 12.00h. Participants will have until Wednesday October 17 to upload their short film on www.adnstream.tv in the “amalexpress” channel section, where web-surfers can vote for their favourite.

Compartir cine e fomentar a comprensión do mundo árabe entre as novas xeracións é un dos compromisos do Festival Amal. Por cuarto ano consecutivo, un ciclo de cine infantil destinado principalmente a rapaces e rapazas de 5º e 6º de primaria da área de Santiago de Compostela, contribuirá a que reflexionen por eles mesmos sobre a actualidade internacional e sobre o valor do respecto mutuo.

Do 15 ao 19 de outubro, nenos e nenas están convidados á proxección de dúas curtametraxes euroárabes. Cada mañá e durante dúas horas, Brais Fernandes Álvarez, dinamizador en Xandobela, encargarase de animar dun xeito divertido esta actividade e de compartir cos asistentes os contidos dos filmes. Dúas obras mestras que agudizarán as súas miradas como espectadores e favorecerán o seu sentido da tolerancia.

Compartir cine y fomentar la comprensión del mundo árabe con las nuevas generaciones es uno de los compromisos del Festival Amal. Por cuarto año consecutivo, un ciclo de cine infantil destinado principalmente a jóvenes de 5º y 6º de primaria del área de Santiago de Compostela, contribuirá a que reflexionen por ellos mismos sobre la actualidad internacional y sobre el valor del respeto hacia los demás.

Sharing cinema and increasing the new generation’s understanding of the Arab world is one of the objectives of the Amal Festival. For a fourth year, a children’s film workshop destined for kids in the 5th and 6th primary school year from the Santiago de Compostela area, will encourage them to do their own thinking on international events and ponder the value of respect for others.

Segundo a organización Iraq Body Count, dos 109.000 mortos durante a guerra, 66.081 foron civís.

EXPOSICIÓN AMAL FILATELICO 2012_ MAL STAMPS 2012 EXHIBITION

Respondendo á convocatoria do Festival Amal 2012, foron máis de 700 os directores, produtores e distribuidores que enviaron as súas películas á nosa sede, en Santiago de Compostela, por correo postal. Entregados dentro dos seus sobres e selos respectivos dende os cantos máis afastados do mundo, chegaron durante catro meses ás nosas oficinas despois de semanas e semanas de viaxe por aires e estradas.

A expocición Amal Filatélico 2012 é o resultado do proceso de reciclaxe de todo ese material, mediante o cal se pretende recoñecer a riqueza orixinal dalgúns selos e outorgarlles un valor diferente, dende outra perspectiva e cunha finalidade novidosa: transmitir e difundir a cultura para facer do noso ámbito un mundo mellor, máis xusto e amable.

A exposición está comisariada por Coralie Yap-Chine, coordinadora do Festival Internacional de Cine Euroárabe Amal, e Julia Crespo, licenciada en Belas Artes na USC. Está organizada en colaboración coa Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, e terá lugar do 11 de Outubro de 2012 ao 22 de Outubro de 2012, de 16 h 00 a 20 h 00.

Amal Filatélico 2012 xira entorno a 8 países (Alxeria, Marrocos, Túnez, Exipto, Líbano, Qatar, Bahréin e Iraq) e varias decenas de selos que nos informan sobre os eventos máis relevantes que marcaron a actualidade en diferentes países do mundo árabe, pero tamén sobre o legado histórico e artístico de certos países árabes ao mundo.

Respondiendo a la convocatoria del Festival Amal 2012, fueron más de 700 los directores, productores y distribuidores que enviaron sus películas a nuestra sede, en Santiago de Compostela, por correo postal. Entregados dentro de sus sobres y sellos respectivos desde los rincones más lejanos del mundo, llegaron durante cuatro meses a nuestras oficinas después de semanas y semanas de viaje por aires y carreteras.

La expocición Amal Filatélico 2012 es el resultado del proceso de reciclaje de todo ese material, mediante el cual se pretende reconocer la riqueza original de algunos sellos y otorgarles un valor diferente, desde otra perspectiva y con una finalidad novedosa: transmitir y difundir la cultura para hacer de nuestro entorno un mundo mejor, más justo y amable.

More than 700 producers, directors and distributors responded to the Amal 2012 call for entries and sent their work to our headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, by mail. Their envelopes with their corresponding stamps from the far corners of the world arrived for months at our office after weeks and weeks of travel by air and land.

The Amal Stamp Exhibition 2012 is the result of our recycling efforts with all this material, thanks to which we can pay homage to the originality of some of the stamps and give them additional value thanks to another perspective and a new purpose: to transmit and promote culture to make the world a better place, more equal and kinder.

The exhibition will be commissioned by Coralie Yap-Chine, coordinator of the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal, and Julia Crespo, a USC Fine Arts graduate. It is organized in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela and will take place from October 11 until October 22, 2012, from 16.00 to 20.00h.

The Amal Stamp Exhibition includes stamps from 8 countries (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, Bahrain and Iraq) and other dozens of stamps which will inform us about the most relevant events that have taken place in different countries of the Arab world and also reflect their historical and artistic legacy.

No contexto do espertar que se vén producindo no mundo árabe dende finais de 2010, Sirya parecía nalgún momento o seguinte escenario de cambio de réxime. Non obstante, 18 meses despois, e en metade dunha traxedia que xa custou máis de 20.000 vidas, a situación non apunta a un desenlace inminente. O réxime aférrase custe o que custe ao poder, enfrontado a unha sociedade que perdeu o medo ao castigo, e a oposición non acaba de lograr a unidade necesaria para envorcar a balanza a favor do cambio. Simultáneamente, Sirya é o escenario dun intenso conflito de intereses entre actores externos que pugnan pola hexemonía rexional.

O resultado de todo iso é un conflito empantanado no que as ansias de liberdade, dignidade e traballo corren o risco de quedar sepultada polos cálculos dos que prefiren o simple mantemento do statu quo en prol da estabilidade mal entendida.

En el contexto del despertar que se viene produciendo en el mundo árabe desde finales de 2010, Siria parecía en algún momento el siguiente escenario de cambio de régimen. Sin embargo, 18 meses después, y en mitad de una tragedia que ya ha costado más de 20.000 vidas, la situación no apunta a un desenlace inminente. El régimen se aferra a toda costa al poder, enfrentado a una sociedad que ha perdido el miedo al castigo, y la oposición no acaba de lograr la unidad necesaria para volcar la balanza a favor del cambio. Simultáneamente, Siria es el escenario de un intenso conflicto de intereses entre actores externos que pugnan por la hegemonía regional. El resultado de todo ello es un conflicto empantanado en el que las ansias de libertad, dignidad y trabajo corren el riesgo de quedar sepultadas por los cálculos de quienes prefieren el simple mantenimiento del statu quo en aras de la estabilidad mal entendida.

In the context of the awakening which begun at the end of 2010 in the Arab world, it looked like Syria would be the next scenario for a change in regime. Yet, 18 months later, and in the midst of a tragedy that has already claimed the lives of more than 20.000, the situation is no closer to resolution. The regime has latched onto power at all costs, confronting a society that has lost its fear of punishment and the opposition does not seem to have obtained the necessary unity to tip the scales towards change. At the same time, Syria is the scenario of an intense conflict of interests between external agents, fighting for regional hegemony.

The result is a conflict that seems to have no resolution in sight, in which liberty, dignity and work run the risk of being buried under calculations by those who prefer to simply maintain the status quo in a mistaken interpretation of the term stability.
