Germany

Germany is a large country in Europe, with a population of about 80 million. Berlin is its capital

and major city. The currency is the euro. Germany neighbours are in the north, Denmark, in the

west, France, Belgium and Holland, in the south, Austria and Switzerland and in the east, the Czech

Republic and Poland. It’s famous for its beer and for its car factories.

German is the official language and compulsory subject in schools. Some people also study

Russian, French, Spanish, English and Italian.

Lots of people from Asia and Europe work in Germany. In particular there are from Russia and

Greece. There are also people from Africa and South America.
