La peculiaridad que une nombre y o�cio es una obra de la autora lanzaroteña Dévora Ventura que pretende honrar los empleos y nombres compuestos de nuestros antepasados. Tradiciones que se han ido perdiendo con el tiempo, debido a los avances de las tecnologías (los nombres también han cambiado por las tecnologías, ya que tenemos demasiado a mano los Justin y las Jennifer). Cada uno de los personajes de los relatos nos trae un mensaje positivo de amor y re�exión.

"La peculiaridad que une nombre y o�cio" is the work of author from Lanzarote Dévora Ventura who aims to pay tribute to the connection between jobs and names of our ancestors. Traditions that are fading away due to advances in technology, (technology has also had an impact on names, and new names like Justin and Jennifer, are replacing previous ones). Each of the characters in the stories has a positive message of love to help us stop and think.

El trompetista Chano Gil y el pianista Sergio Alonso ofrecen un concierto en el que se interpretan obras que harán un recorrido histórico que va desde el barroco al siglo XXI, pasando por el clasicismo, el romanticismo, el siglo XX y el jazz. Piezas de Purcell, Fantini, Rachmaninoff, Piazzolla, Bernstein, Ravel, Debussy, John Coltrane o Nino Díaz protagonizan esta velada musical, que contará con una charla de la musicóloga Marina Hervás en la que hablará de las composiciones y su contexto histórico.

Trumpet player Chano Gil and pianist Sergio Alonso, are playing pieces from different stages in history. From the Baroque to the 21st Century, including Classicism, Romanticism, the 20th Century and jazz. Pieces by Purcell, Fantini, Rachmaninoff, Piazzolla, Bernstein, Ravel, Debussy, John Coltrane and Nino Díaz part of this musical soiree, including a talk by musicolo-gist Marina Hervás to explain the pieces and their historic context.

La Orquesta de Jazz del Atlántico pretende ser un vehículo de investigación y de creación que ofrezca al público la oportunidad de descubrir la música de los grandes compositores de jazz para formaciones como esta, así como ofrecer la oportunidad a nuevos creadores de contar con una formación estable que pueda dar cabida a sus trabajos. Para esta ocasión, la Orquesta de Jazz del Atlántico viaja en el tiempo hasta los años ’30, ’40 y ’50; con el objetivo de conseguir ese sonido característico de la banda de Duke Ellington.

The Atlantic Jazz Orchestra aims to conduct research and to create in order to offer audiences the chance to discover the music of great jazz composers for this type of orchestra, and in turn provide new authors with the necessary stability for their work. This time around, the Atlantic Jazz Orchestra will travel back to the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s with the outstanding sound of the Duke Ellington band.

Después de más de 100 representaciones en catalán, la compañía La Trup propone, ahora en lengua castellana, Lucrecia o Roma Libre, de Joan Ramis i Ramis. Esta obra de 1769 es la más signi�cativa del periodo neoclásico de la literatura catalana. Una tragedia cuyos versos alejandrinos llegan perfectamente al público de hoy. Lucrecia defenderá hasta la muerte su dignidad ante el abuso de poder, el maltrato y la tiranía del príncipe Tarquino. Traducida al castellano para su estreno en Lanzarote, como obsequio de Menorca por el XXV aniversario compartido de ambas islas como Reservas de la Biosfera.

After more than 100 performances in Catalonian, La Trup have now decided to do it in Castilian Spanish, “Lucrecia o Roma Libre”, by Joan Ramis i Ramis. This 1769 piece, is the most signi�cant one from a Neoclassical period in Catalonian literature. A tragedy written in an alexandrine verse form that audiences nowadays can relate to. Lucrecia defends to death her dignity against the abuse of power, mistreat and tyranny of Prince Tarquino. It has been translated to Castilian for its premiere in Lanzarote, as a gift from Menorca to mark the 25th anniversary of both islands as Reserves of the Biosphere.

Óyeme con los ojos está inspirada del poema Sentimientos de ausente de Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. En este solo, acompañada de seis excelentes músicos, María Pagés narra la vida y las inquietudes espirituales y existenciales de una mujer cuya vida está marcada por el baile como vocación ética. Pagés ha demostrado ser una pionera en el entendimiento del �amenco como un arte en evolución, contemporáneo y vivo. Comenzó su carrera en la compañía de Antonio Gades, en 2002 obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Danza y el Premio de Coreografía ADE en 1996. En 2014 se le concede la Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes.

“Óyeme con los ojos” is based on the poem “Sentimientos de ausente” by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. In this solo piece, along with six excellent musicians, María Pagés tells the life and spiritual and existential concerns of a woman whose life revolves around dancing as an ethical calling. Pagés has proven to be a pioneer when it comes to understanding �amenco as a developing art, contemporary and very much alive. She started professionally with the Antonio Gades’ company. In 2002, she won the National Dance Award and the ADE Choreography Award in 1996. In 2014, she was given the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts.

Detrás de la apariencia �gurativa, casi fotográ�ca, de la pintura de Matallana late el deseo de crear una ilusión de falsa objetividad que nos invita a jugar con los límites entre la verdad y la mentira. El resultado, como sentencia Ramiro Carrillo, es una obra que “es la imagen de una imagen de una imagen”, que a nadie deja indiferente.

Behind the �gurative and almost photographic appearance of Matallana’s paintings, there is a wish to create a fake objectivity illusion, inciting us to play with the line between truth and lies. The result, as Ramiro Carrillo states, is a piece that “is the image of an image that is in turn the image of another image”, leaving no-one untouched.

La exposición itinerante Esencias de la tierra tiene como objetivo dar a conocer y poner en valor espacios, creados por la naturaleza y el hombre, que se han dedicado a la extracción de áridos, como roferos, canteras, etc. Son lugares con una gran belleza por su riqueza en formas, texturas y colores y su valor medioambiental, natural, paisajístico y cultural.

The travelling exhibition Esencias de la tierra aims to raise awareness toward the spaces, created by nature and men, that have been used to extract arid elements, such as roferos, canteras (quarries), etc. Places of great beauty thanks to their shapes, textures and shades as well as their environmental, natural, landscapes and cultural values.

La exposición itinerante Esencias de la tierra recorrerá todos los municipios de la isla hasta el mes de octubre.

Esencias de la tierra is travelling around the different municipalities of the island.

Second World War. In Marseille, refugees from all over Europe get ready to head toward America, escaping the Nazi occupa-tion. Among them there’s a young German boy called Georg. He’s impersonating a dead writer in order to use his visa and get refuge in Mexico. Whilst in Marseille, he falls in love with María, a young girl who is desperately seeking the man she loves, and won’t leave until she �nds him.
