Larry y Liz Yaskiel son conocidos por su labor en la prensa y la promoción turística de Lanzarote entre el público anglosajón durante las últimas décadas. Pero pocos saben que Larry, antes de recalar en la isla, pasó más de veinte años en la cresta de la ola de la música pop-rock mundial, codeándose con artistas y bandas como Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple o The Who y lanzando las carreras de músicos tan reconocidos como Supertramp o los Bee Gees. El CIC El Almacén le dedica una exposición documental a su etapa musical, junto a un encuentro con él para descubrir de primera mano en qué consistió la época más añorada de la música popular contemporánea.

Larry and Liz Yaskiel are known for their outstanding work in the media and for their tourism promotion, making Lanzarote known to the English-speaking market in the past few decades. However, not many people know that Larry spent more than twenty years at the top, involved in global pop-rock music before settling on the island. He used to rub shoulders with bands and artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple and The Who. He also helped launch well-known musicians to fame, like Supertramp and the Bee Gees. CIC el Almacén, is dedicating a documentary exhibition to his music phase, including a debate with the artist so he can hopefully shed some light on what the most popular nostalgic contemporary music era consisted of, �rst hand.

Alejandro Butler, (voz, armónica y �auta travesera), Juanma Barroso (guitarra y voces), Marcial Bonilla (bajo, voces y samples ) y Leo Bea (batería) conforman Love Shot, el grupo canario de rock del momento. El pasado mes de junio salía a la luz su primer disco Nautilus, un trabajo con el que buscan hacerse un hueco en el panorama musical nacional. Su principal carta de presentación es su single I’m on �re, un tema potente, con guitarras contundentes y letras directas, que se convierte en el resumen perfecto del espíritu de todo el disco.

Love Shot is made up by Alejandro Butler, (singer and harmonic and �ute player), Juanma Barroso (singer and guitar player), Marcial Bonilla (bass guitar, singer and samples) and Leo Bea (drummer), the trending Canarian rock bank. They released their �rst album last June, Nautilus, aiming to open their way into the national music scene. Their main single “I’m on �re”, is a powerful tune, with strong guitar sounds and straight forward lyrics, a perfect introduction of the theme of the album.

En 2008 un grupo de jóvenes, en su inmensa mayoría estudiantes de la Universidad de La Laguna, deciden unirse para dar un giro a la música tradicional, folklórica y popular de las islas. Después de 20 años de carrera, cuatro discos en el mercado, más de 300 conciertos en directo y una puesta en escena única y especial, Jóvenes Cantadores mantienen un estilo propio, una marca singular, en la que reside la clave de su éxito. Ahora, esta treintena de jóvenes canarios celebra este 20 aniversario con un gran espectáculo que no dejará indiferente a nadie.

In 2008, a group of young people, mostly students from the University of La Laguna, decided to get together and play traditional, folklore and popular music from the islands with a twist. 20 years, four albums and more than 300 live performances later, with their unique and special mise en scène, Jóvenes Cantadores still have their very own style, which is where their key to success lays. La joven creadora Paola Santa Cruz participa entre el 6 y el 21 de agosto como artista invitada en el programa de residencias artísticas. Una iniciativa del Centro de Innovación Cultural “El Almacén” en la que los creadores realizan obras en formato digital utilizando un software de creación en 3D a través del dispositivo de realidad virtual HTC Vive. El próximo 21 de agosto la artista residente mantendrá un encuentro abierto con el público en la Sala Micro para mostrar el trabajo realizado durante esos días.

Young Paola Santa Cruz is a guest artist at the Almacén RV residence programme, taking place from 6th to 21st August 2018, an initiative of Centro de Innovación Cultural “El Almacén” where artists will do their work in digital format using virtual reality glasses, virtual HTC Vive, through the TILT BRUSH software. On 21st August, the resident artist will hold a debate with the audience at the Sala Micro to show the work done.

La exposición itinerante Esencias de la tierra tiene como objetivo dar a conocer y poner en valor espacios, creados por la naturaleza y el hombre, que se han dedicado a la extracción de áridos, como roferos, canteras, etc. Son lugares con una gran belleza por su riqueza en formas, texturas y colores y su valor medioambiental, natural, paisajístico y cultural.

The travelling exhibition Esencias de la tierra aims to raise awareness toward the spaces, created by nature and men, that have been used to extract arid elements, such as roferos, canteras (quarries), etc. Places of great beauty thanks to their shapes, textures and shades as well as their environmental, natural, landscapes and cultural values.

La exposición itinerante Esencias de la tierra recorrerá todos los municipios de la isla hasta el mes de octubre.
