Proyecto:Los autores están embarcados en un estudio

arqueo astronómico sistemático de lugares arqueológicos en la región.

La primera campaña comienza en la primavera de 1997 en norte de Túnez (antigua África Proconsularis).Medidas: Brújula de precisión y clinómetro. No se esperaban Anomalías Magnéticas por la

geología de la región.



Tienen en cuenta los aspectos de la Cultura Astronómica.Enfocándolo en el estudio de la orientación de los Monumentos Funerarios de las culturas pre-Romanas.

Comprende:Monumentos Megalíticos (‘dolmens’8) Tumbas excavadas en roca (‘hawanat’, ) Tumbas Púnicas (Cartagineses) (S.IX –IV A.C).9

Interés del estudio de las orientaciones:En si mismasRelaciones con : Península Ibérica , Islas Baleares,

Cerdeña, Córcega y Malta, Con las Islas Canarias (distantes y culturalmente

cerradas).

astro y geo: indican diferentes soluciones: si se tiene en cuenta o no, los astros que iluminan el interior.



Los grupos de dólmenes, salvo para los de Bulla Regia, cubre rangos de azimuts entre 52½° (corresponden a declinación 30°, posición lunar en el norte) y 203½°.

Este rango es similar a: Galerías Catalanas en la Península Iberica,18 La tombe di giganti de Cerdeña.19 Algunas necrópolis dolménicas en el

Mediterráneo Oriental.23

Este arco es distinto a: Navetas (Tumbas comunales) Baleares,22

Indicios: Contactos a través del Mediterráneo Hipótesis influencia exterior

Conclusiones (1):



Orientación de los hawanat: Sugiere una probable asociación entre los constructores de dólmenes con

los excavadores de hawanat. Podría encontrarse en Cerdeña semejanzas entre el domus de Janas

(similitudes con los hawanat), y las tumbas megalíticas de la isla.

Los datos obtenidos, aparentemente, sugieren una dicotomía entre las orientaciones de los monumentos Numídicos y los Púnicos.

Sin embargo, planos de la necrópolis de Dermech en Cartago (S.VI-V A.C.) parece mostrar una preferencia por el azimut entre 120° y 160°.24

Aun es una cuestión abierta si pudo existir influencia entre los Numídicos y los Púnicos.

Conclusiones(2):



En las antiguas necrópolis Púnicas (Byrsa y Utica) tenemos patrones de orientación diferentes (Figura) vienen a complicar el panorama.

Conclusiones (3):



Oportunidad de medir algunos Templos y Mausoleos Reales del periodo Romano 25 (S.II A.C. y posteriores).

De particular interés el mas reciente y, junto con impresionantes monumentos Argelinos tales como Medracen cerca de Batna, merecen futuros estudios.26

Los templos también forman un grupo significativo y los resultados de dichas investigaciones serán presentadas en otro articulo.

Asimismo para el futuro estudio hay elementos astronómicos en antiguas cronicas27 ,inscripciones locales,28 y estructuras y arte en piedra del Magreb Poniente.

11. Most of the hawanat are concentrated near the coast whereas most of the dolmens are to be found in the interior (see Figure 1).
