DESCRIPTION
The second part of my assignment on my final project was the design of a mini-collection, avant-garde, and a photographic production. As my brand touches social issues, this collection was named “American Dream”, an Illusion or Reality for Latino Immigrants. A few of the motivating factors that bring Hispanic immigrants to the United States, whether legally or illegally, include a lack of resources and opportunities in their home countries, abuses of their government, extreme poverty, and even the search for adventure. Most of them are more certain of having achieved at least some portion of what they believed to be the “American Dream”, but they have a long journey ahead. To communicate their suffocating situation and translate it into the design, I used a layered, overloaded system, an extreme experimentation in textile design and personalized prints inspired on their experience, creating new silhouettes that imprison the woman's with mixed fabrics.TRANSCRIPT
