2. COMPANY OBJECTIVES IN THIS MISSION TO CHINA

TITLE WorldSensing: SMART PARKING SYSTEM: FASTPARK

ABSTRACTBrief description of the benefits of the technology offered/sought including key technical or competitive advantages or details of the applications in which it will be used

WorldSensing’s business line is focused on the development of an autonomous, self-organizing smart information platform based on heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks to offer new tools that will help to significantly reduce the carbon footprint, air pollution and energy consumption in urban areas. This way, the visions of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Internet of Things (IoT) will find their implementations in the field of interoperability among citizens, objects and urban scenarios. The platform is built upon existing open source software, protocols and formats. The company delivers unprecedented communication protocols and hardware designs to offer innovative products to established as well as emerging markets.

At this point, we are highly focused on smart urban infrastructure for carbon footprint reduction. The target companies are mobility and telecommunications infrastructures managers, telecom operators and major parking operators (like Interparking, ParkCare Group). We offer them new products incorporating low-cost, reliable and secure state of the art technologies.

The prime aim of this trip is to establish personal contact with leading manufacturers, service providers, city halls representative in the field. Notably, we would like to 1) obtain a coherent picture on the market trends in our segment; 2) make contact to similar companies in the field and query them on their positive as well as negative experience; 3) increase international visibility and thus potential impact.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TECHNOLOGY OFFERED/SOUGHT

According to Forrester, the market of Extended Internet Technologies, which includes RFID, sensors and others, will have a value of $11bn worldwide and $3bn in Europe by 2012. One of the major areas is physical security and control, which is where WorldSensing’s forerunner products, FASTPARK and eCO2, are positions with the aim to capture part of the $2.8bn worldwide market by 2012.

From the total Extended Internet Technologies market, it is anticipated that $5.3bn will be captured by the sector pertaining to wireless sensor networks, a large part of which will go to service providers facilitating a commercially viable use of said technology. As for the wireless sensor market tailored to Europe, according to Frost & Sullivan, it is expected to grow strongly until 2014, reaching $180m. Furthermore, the amount of wireless sensor nodes is estimated to be a healthy 80-140 million units in 2010 in Europe alone. Any company, and WorldSensing in particular, which aim at capturing part of this promising market need to enforce the support of applications which eventually yield gains (by order of magnitude) for the end-client.

Capitalizing on above strategic insights, the current developments of WorldSensing address the following products:

1-Outdoor Parking Management System and Localization Platform.

Page 3: TITLE

There are up to 4M of regulated parking spaces in urban areas above 200.000 inhabitants in Europe. Cities start to be interested in fine-grained parking regulations due to its environmental benefits. There is however a lack of availability of such systems in the market due to technological barriers which could not be solved until about a years ago.

The product that WorldSensing has developed has been designed to monitor outdoor parking spaces and provide this information to drivers seeking a parking spot through their smart-phones. However, the system could also be used in indoor parking buildings to replace actual wired systems reducing installation and logistics costs by about an order of magnitude. The latter extends the market by 3M extra places. These numbers result in a market ranging between $400-600m for the next five years in Europe.

Service providers are those which profit from WorldSensing’s solutions by offering their existing customers unprecedented value-augmenting services or which lower OPEX of running services by at least an order of magnitude. WorldSensing mainly targets service providers having access to a large, mass market, but does not exclude tailored solutions. An example is the parking maintenance service provider in Barcelona, which has shown great interest in exploring WorldSensing’s FASTPARK product. Focus here is on offering a solution which is of low cost, whilst not jeopardizing operation.

Governmental bodies’ main interest lies in providing security and life quality services to its citizens. WorldSensing’s CO2 handling solution is thus one example which governmental bodies are likely to show interest in. Focus here is less on cost but more on reliability and security.

Town halls or any type of municipal bodies have an interest in augmenting the residents’ living quality. WorldSensing’s prime product, FASTPARK, has already generated a great interest from a variety of townhalls. Emphasis here is on cost, reliability and security, all of which WorldSensing offers as of today.

Third parties are those which utilize WorldSensing’s platform to develop novel and innovative solutions on top of it, to be able to sell this again to any of above-mentioned market segments. Recognizing that WorldSensing cannot and does not want capture every single available market in this direction, it allows for a quick spread of technology into unforeseen markets and sectors. Emphasis here is on availability and open access.

Commerce, i.e. industrial companies, start-ups, etc, can profit from the low cost and reliable sensing solutions offered by WorldSensing. This facilitates a cutting-edge w.r.t. competitors in the field. For example, WorldSensing’s solutions allow whine yards to be monitored and thus guarantee a superior quality when compared to an un-monitored solution.
