Dear parishioners,
The month of October is dedicated especially to the Holy Angels and the Rosary. Our commitment to these devotions assures the turning of our hearts toward God who loves us. The opal is ascribed to October because its flecks of color reflect the light of holiness in the soul that is dedicated to prayer and to devotion.
As we turn toward November, we begin with two very special holy days: All Saints and All Souls. The proximity of these holy days reminds us of the three dimensions of the Church: the Church Militant upon the earth, the Church Triumphant in heaven and the Church Penitent in purgatory. Whenever we celebrate the Sacra-ments, the three dimensions of the Church are present as militant and triumphant and penitent.
November 1, Wednesday, is a holy day of obligation. Please note the times for Holy Mass in the bulletin.
On the day of our Confirmation, we were sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit in reference to our patron saint whose name we chose for that special day. The Church asks us to continue the spirit of our Confirmation Saint name throughout our entire life.
O heavenly Patron, in whose name I have placed my confidence, pray ever to God for me. Establish me in virtue, guard me in conflict and help me to vanquish evil and attain to everlasting glory. Amen.

Queridos Feligreses,
El mes de octubre está dedicado especialmente a los Santos Ángeles y al Santo Rosario. Nuestro compromiso a estas devociones nos asegura mantener nuestros corazones hacia Dios quien nos ama. El ópalo es atri-buido al mes de octubre porque sus manchitas de color reflejan la luz de la santidad en el alma de quien se dedique a la oración y a la devoción.
Al entrar en el mes de noviembre, empezamos con dos días muy es-peciales: Todos los Santos y Todos los Fieles Difuntos. La proximidad de estos dos días Santos nos recuerda de las tres dimensiones de la Iglesia: la Iglesia Militante sobre la tierra, la Iglesia Triunfante en el cielo y la Iglesia Penitente en el Purgatorio. Cada vez que celebramos los Sacra-mentos, las tres dimensiones de la Iglesia están presentes como militante y triunfante y penitente.
El miércoles, 1ro de noviembre, es un Día Sagrado de Obligación. Por favor tenga en cuenta que el horario de Misas se ha publicado en el boletín.
En el día de nuestra Confirmación, fuimos sellados con el don del Es-píritu Santo en referencia a nuestro Santo Patrono cuyo nombre elegimos ese día tan especial. La Iglesia nos pide seguir el espíritu del nombre Santo de Confirmación a lo largo de toda nuestra vida.
Oh Patrono celestial, en cuyo nombre he puesto mi confianza, ora a Dios siempre por mí. Establece en mi virtud, guárdame en conflicto y ayúdame a vencer el mal y a alcanzar la gloria eterna. Amén.

Oct. 28-29 30th Sunday in Ordinary TimeThis Sunday we hear the equation that love of God equals love of neighbor. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI wrote this in his encyclical God is Love: “Anyone who needs me and whom I can help is my neighbor. The concept of ‘neighbor’ is now universalized, yet it remains concrete. Despite being extended to all mankind, it is not reduced to a generic, abstract and undemanding expression of love, but calls for my own practical commitment here and now … Love of God and love of neighbor have become one: in the least of the brethren we find Jesus himself, and in Jesus we find God.” (#15) Who is the neighbor we are called to love right now? How will we show concrete love for them?
Octubre 28-29 30mo. Domingo del Tiempo OrdinarioEste domingo escuchamos la ecuación en la que el amor a Dios es igual al amor a tu prójimo. El Papa Benedicto XVI dice lo siguiente en su encíclica Dios es amor: “Cualquiera que me necesite y a quien pueda ayudar, es mi prójimo. El concepto de ‘prójimo’ está ahora universalizado, y aun así permanece concreto. A pesar de extenderse a toda la humanidad, no está reducido a una expresión de amor genérica, abstracta, sin demandas, sino que pide mi propio y práctico compromiso aquí y ahora…el Amor por Dios y por el prójimo se ha convertido en uno: en el más pequeño de los hermanos encontramos a Jesús mismo, y en Jesús encontramos a Dios”. Are you wanting to learn more about our faith? Are you just sitting in your car waiting for your kids to get out of religious education classes? Take that leap of faith because we have something for you. We are excited to announce this years’ theme for the Adult Faith Formation classes. We will be studying Jeff Cavins’, Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom. Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom, builds on The Bible Timeline and Matthew by showing how Christ›s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out His work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth. The Acts of the Apostles provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative. This will be offered on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. in English with Anna Lara in the Knights of Columbus room (PAC301) and in Spanish with Art Lara in room 208 in the Education building.
On Sundays, we will have a Spanish session at 9:45 a.m. in room 208 of the Education Building, on Dios Te Salve, Reina Y Madre: La Biblia y La Virgen Maria presented by Martha Calderon. Currently, we are seeking a Catechist to present Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom program in English.
This is open to everyone come join us for this year’s Adult Faith Formation Program. Classes will begin the week of September 24th and follow the RE calendar for the year. For more information please contact the RE Office.

Estamos muy contentos de poder anunciar el tema de este año para las clases de Formación de Fe para Adultos. Estudiaremos los actos, por Jeff Cavins’: la Propagación del Reino. Estos actos de la Propagación del Reino, se basan en la cro-nología de la Biblia y en Mateo mostrando cómo el Reino de Cristo está fortalecido en la tierra para llevar a cabo Su trabajo en el mundo. El libro de los Hechos muestra a la Iglesia, animada por el Espíritu Santo, enseñando, predicando, sanando y restaurando a los excluidos de la misma manera que Jesús lo hizo en la tierra. Los Hechos de los Apóstoles ofrece un marco histórico para comprender el resto del Nuevo Testamento. En particular, las cartas de Pablo, cobran vida en una nueva forma cuando se leen dentro del contexto de la narración de los Hechos. Esto se ofrecerá el miércoles por la noche a las 6:45 p.m. en el salón de los Caballeros de Colon (PAC301) en inglés con Anna Lara y en español con Art Lara en el salón 208 del edificio de Educación.
