    Writing and Assembly

In class we are learning how to write exciting stories.

They need to have a beginning which tells you who is in

the story and where it is, a really interesting middle

which usually has a problem, and an ending where the

problem is solved. We decided to do a play at our

assembly called The Three Hungry Giants. This is an

exciting story. The problem in the story is that the three

hungry giants are demanding food and scaring the people

with their bommy knockers. The problem is solved when

some bees from a beehive chase the giants home. We also

told the audience some fun facts about giants.

    History Excursion

In History we are learning about Family

Life: Past and Present. On Wednesday we

visited Patrick Taylor Cottage. This is the

    oldest surviving dwelling in Western

Australia. It is 182 years old. We saw how

different things were for people who lived

    in the olden days.

Here are some of the things we wrote:

I liked the clock because the

    clock didnt have the big

    hand.Keira A

    My favourite thing was the

    hot water bottle which was

    made out of ceramic.Cody

It was cool how they made

    hooks out of bird beaks.

My favourite thing was the 3D

    picture viewer because you

    could look in the thing.

    Dockers Cup 2014

On Friday, 12September, eighteen Year 6\7 girls represented Yakamia PS in the 2014 Dockers Cup,

organised by Tom Moir the Regional District Football Manager and held at the North Road Ovals.

Leading up to this event the girls trained every day before lunch perfecting their handballing, kicking

and tackling skills. Training saw a huge improvement in the girls as none of them have ever played

    football before.

After gathering the medical gear, collecting the fluoro vests and handing out the jerseys, they headed

to the oval. Schools from around the district took part including Mount Barker and Denmark. By

10:00am one of the six games had started with Yakamia opposing Mount Lockyer, Talia Coyne

kicking the first goal. Throughout the whole day, Mr Stamp (the head coach) was very helpful. Alex

Pearce and Sam Want gave great support to the girls as they assisted in coaching, goal and boundary

    umpiring.

All the girls tried extremely hard and were very

competitive as they contributed in all games with a smile

on their face. Even though they won only one of their

games, they came second in 5 others. ( a close second)

the girls were happy with their results, especially Georgia

Crosby winning Best Yakamia Girl on the field.

All of the girls had great fun and enjoyed the day, going

home very tired and weary after the six

    games they played.

    School Banking

Calling for volunteers we need your help!

Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School

Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.

The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate thebanking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small

amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide

support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit

students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with

    fundraising.

Currently, School Banking day is Thursday.

Please indicate your interest in volunteering for this great program by filling in the

tear off section below and returning it toYakamia Primary School Administration.

Yes, I would like to help with School Banking!
