Hide the browser by clicking on the arrows at the right of thescreen, as shown in the figure. You should now see the graphicsarea where parts will be displayed.
Select [File] -> [Set Working Directory] from the menu bar, andselect the folder in which you downloaded the part. All work youdo will be saved to the folder you set as the working directory.
Select [File] -> [Open] from the menu bar, and select the part youdownloaded.
Figure 0.2 shows the main components of the Pro/E window. The
part you are currently working on is displayed in the GraphicsArea. The top Tool Bar lets you modify the view and performcommon actions such as saving and opening files. The right ToolBar contains the icons which let you create parts and features. TheMenu Bar contains many of the same options as the Tool Bars, butin the form of menus rather than icons. When creating a part or
feature, you will use the Dashboard to select options. The ModelTree lists all the features comprising the part that is currentlydisplayed.

Orientation and Viewing
To see a particular face of the part, select
[View] -> [View Manager] from the menu bar. Select the Orient tab from the View Manager
window, as shown in Figure 0.4.
Double click the view you would like to see(Top, Right, etc.). Experiment with the View
Manager to familiarize yourself with the
different views.

The following commands can be used tomanually change the view of the part: Spin -move cursor while holding the middle mouse
button Rotate - move mouse left and right while holding
the middle mouse button and CTRL
Zoom - use wheel on mouse or move mouse upand down while holding the middle mousebutton and CTRL
Pan - move mouse while holding the middlemouse button and Shift Key
Experiment with these commands to familiarizeyourself with the different viewing options.

Extrusions, Sketching, and Cuts
Introduction
Extrusions are one of the most basic ways to design apart in Pro/E, and sketching is an important part of thedesign process. In this section, you will learn basicoperations by creating a simple part using an extrudedprotrusion. You will then modify the part using acutting operation.
Starting Pro/E and Creating new Part
Start Pro/E Wildfire.
Select [File] -> [New] from the menu bar. The dialogshown in Figure 1.1 will pop up

Type the part name [Example1] in Text Box.Click [OK] button (or press Enter Key). You willsee the screen shown in Figure 1.2.

Sketching and Protrusion
Select the Extrude Tool icon from the tool barat the right of the screen, as shown in Figure
1.2.
Select the Sketcher icon from the extrusion
tool bar on the dashboard at the bottom of
the screen.
Select the plane labeled FRONT. This will
allow you to sketch in the xy plane and
extrude in the z direction

Click the Sketch button from the Section pop-up menu. Pro/E will switch to Sketch
Mode, and you will see the screen as shown in Figure 1.4.

Close the References Dialog.
Select [Sketch] -> [Options] from menu bar. The
dialog shown in Figure 1.5 will pop up. Turn ONthe [Grid] and [Snap To Grid], and click the greencheck button.
Select [Sketch] -> [Intent Manager] from themenu bar. This will bring up the Menu Managershown in Figure 1.6.
Now sketch the shape shown in Figure 1.7. Select[Line] from GEOMETRY menu of the MenuManager.
Use the left mouse button to click points A, B, C,D, E, F and A shown in Figure 1.7. After clickingthese points, press the mouse middle button.

Select [Regenerate] from SKETCHER menu of the MenuManager. Zoom in using the wheel on the mouse or bymoving the mouse up and down while holding CTRL and
middle mouse button. Move the sketch to the center of thescreen by moving the mouse while holding the middlemouse button and the Shift key. Now set the size of theshape. Follow the steps below: Select [Dimension] fromSKETCHER menu.
Click Edge2 and Edge6 with the left mouse button, andthen click point A with the middle mouse button.
Click Edge1 and Edge5 with the left mouse button, andthen click point B with the middle mouse button.
Click Edge2 and Edge4 with the left mouse button, and
then click point c with the middle mouse button. Click Edge3 and Edge5 with the left mouse button, and
then click point D with the middle mouse button.

Select [Regenerate] from SKETCHER menu. The dimensions of the part will be shown as in Figure

Select [Modify] from SKETCHER menu.
Click the number that is circled by A shown in Figure 1.9. Then typethe correct dimension underneath the toolbar. In this case, type200 in the text box, and click the check button.
Similarly, change the number that is circled by B to 200, by C to 50,and by D to 50.
Select [Regenerate], and then Select [Done] from SKETCHERmenu. Pro/E will exit Sketcher Mode.
Type in 100 into the extrusion depth box on the dashboard and click
check button. Select [View] -> [Orientation] -> [Default Orientation] from menu
bar. If you followed the instructions correctly, you will see the three-dimensional image shown in Figure 1.11.
While there is no real undo option in Pro/E, the model tree can beused to modify features you have already created. Right click on
the part you wish to alter, and select [Edit Definition] from the listof options. You can then alter the part.
Select [File] -> [Save] from menu bar and click the check button atthe bottom of the screen to save the part.

Creating Cuts Select the Extrude Tool icon from the tool bar on the right of the
screen, as in Step 1 of the previous section.
Select the Remove Material icon from the extrusion tool bar on thedashboard, as shown in Figure 1.12.
Select the Sketcher icon.
Locate the bottom face of the part by using View Manager asdescribed in Step of the previous section. Select [View] -> [ViewManager] from the menu bar, and then double click [Bottom] from
the pop-up window. You should see the view shown in Figure 1.13. Click on the bottom face of the part near point A in Figure 1.13 to
select it as the sketching plane.
Change the orientation to [Bottom] on the Section menu.
Click the Sketch button from the Section menu. Pro/E will switch to
Sketch Mode. Select [Sketch] -> [Intent Manager] from the menu bar.
Select [Line] from GEOMETRY menu.
Click points A, B and C shown in Figure 1.14 with the mouse leftbutton, and then click the middle mouse button.

Select [Regenerate] from SKETCHER menu.
To dimension the cut, click E2 and E4 shown in Figure 1.15 with theleft mouse button, and then click near A with the middle mousebutton. Similarly, click E1, E3, and B. Zoom and pan if necessary.
Select [Regenerate] from SKETCHER menu. Click the dimensions atpoints A and B, and then change them to 25. You should see theimage shown in Figure 1.16.
elect [Regenerate] and then Select [Done] from the SKETCHERmenu. You will see the screen shown in Figure 1.17.
Rotate the part until you see an outline of what the cut will looklike. If the cut is outside the part as shown in Figure 1.8, click onthe yellow cutting direction arrow as shown. The outline shouldnow be inside the part.
Type 100 into the Extrusion Depth box and click the check button.
Use the mouse to zoom and rotate the part to see it from different
angles. You should see the image shown in Figure 1.18. Select [File] -> [Save] from menu bar to save the part.

Holes, Rounds, and Chamfers A variety of geometric shapes and
constructions can be designed automaticallywith Pro/E, including holes, rounds, andchamfers. The Hole option creates many types
of holes, including straight holes, sketchedholes, and holes for standard fasteners. TheRound option creates a fillet or a round on anedge that is a smooth transition with a circular
profile between two adjacent surfaces. TheChamfer option creates a beveled surface atthe intersection of edges.

Creating Base Shape Start Pro/E Wildfire.
Select [File] -> [New], and type the part name [Example2] in Text Box.
Click [OK] Button.
Select the Extrude Tool icon from the tool bar at the right of the screen.
Select the Sketcher icon from the dashboard, and click the reference plane
marked as FRONT.
Click the Sketch button from the Section menu. Pro/E will switch to SketchMode.
In this section, you will sketch the cross-section of the part using the same
method as in Tutorial 1. Start by closing the References dialog box.
Select [Sketch] -> [Options] from menu bar. Turn ON the [Grid] and [Snap
To Grid], and click the green check button. Select [Sketch] -> [Intent Manager] from the menu bar.
Use pan and zoom operations to change the viewing so that you see the
coordinates as shown in Figure 2.1.

Select [Line] from the Menu Manager
GEOMETRY menu. Click points A and B with the left mouse button,
and then press the middle mouse button.
Select [Arc] from GEOMETRY menu.

Double click on the dimension near Edge1, change the value to 120, and hit Enter.
Double click on the dimension near Edge2, change the value to 100, and hit Enter.

Edge Rounding and Chamfering

Select Chamfer Tool icon from the tool bar at the right of
the screen, as shown in Figure 2.12.
Enter 10 into the textbox in the chamfer tool bar on the
dashboard. Select the edge around the hole in the part, and click the
check button. If you followed the directions correctly, you
should see Figure 2.13.
Select [File] -> [Save] from menu bar to save the part.
