Subject DEFINITION IN THE STUDY FIELD

This is a subject that belongs to the Basic Science Area, which nature is theoretical and practical. During this course students will have the opportunity to learn by being exposed to meaningful language and useful topics. Throughout all the units in this course, they will practice the four main communicative skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It means the receptive and productive skills which are necessary to understand and produce the target language. There will be a range of methods and approaches used in order to teach students effectively, depending on their learning needs, wants and lacks. All these will let students be able to communicate in simple terms in a familiar context or predictable matters.

This subject becomes the most important tool for students who desire to reach high goals in their professional field since English is a Universal language. It will allow students to have access to the most updated information in their study field, it will help them to travel in order to get a specialization degree, and of course it will allow them to find well-paid jobs and amazing opportunities in this country or abroad.

Entailment and relation of the subject with other disciplinary contents of the curricula

There is a close relationship among all the curricula subjects because students will find a variety of topics in this syllabus which keep relationship with each other. In that way, students can bring to the class their background knowledge to make the most in their English lessons. On the other hand, they can contribute with their knowledge to the rest of the curricula subjects. Also, they will be able to find and understand updated information which is not available in their mother tongue.

Research plays an important part in the process of learning because through it students have the tools to develop different skills. Among these skills we have reading for the gist, skimming, scanning; analyzing, summarizing and making their own conclusions.
