0izal as a reliious !an, did not &elie$e in the catholic doctrine that sal$ation +as
only for catholics and that outside (hristianity7 sal$ations +as not possi&le e$en if
catholics co!posed only a s!all !inority of the +orlds reliious roups. %his sho+s that
he opposes the catholic teachin of !oney indulence for the fori$eness of sins. %houh
0izal +as &orn in a catholic +ay, he still fouht for +hat is enuine.
/e often li*e to thin* of heroes in ho+ they chaned a ci$ilization or ho+ they
dissented aainst the situations of their day. -ut, the sinificance of those e$ents and
actions lies in ho+ they re$er&erate +ith indi$iduals. #o!eone li*e 0izal, +ith his +or*s
and +ords inspires !e as a youn 'ilipino to lead a life co!!itted to ser$in others or to
&enefit !y fello+ !an or e$en fiht for oint ideas.
3ose 0izal, in !y o+n thouhts, articulates !e the $alue of certain thins to &e
successful in life. 0izal pro$ed to us that pen is !ihtier than a s+ord, he fouht a +ar
+ith a pen and paper and his &rilliant !ind. is capa&ilities in literatures ena&le hi! to
con$ince his +hole fello+!en to attain ustice instead of destroyin an e!pire.
I learned that you !ust not fiht fire +ith a fire &ecause it +ill ust !a*e the fiht
!ore i!!ense. 0izal inspired !e to study e$en &etter &ecause of +hat he did in the past.
It is of reat i!portance that students li*e us to understand the ustification &ehind ha$in
to ta*e up a 0izal course in collee. It is an issue today +hether to teach 0izal course,
loo*in at the present ti!es, !any are no+ )uestionin the rele$ance of the su&ect. -ut
as for !e, 0izal su&ect +ill al+ays &e i!portant. It had &een our !irror fro! the past
that had helped us *no+ the identity that +e are today. If +e +ill learn e$entually the life
of 0izal aside of he as the hero of our country, +e +ould &e !oti$ated, inspired and
a!azed on ho+ he &eco!e one of the reat leaders that +e had in our nation. Learnin
a&out the life of 0izal is li*e learnin a&out the li$es of our parents. /e !ay not &e
interested for the reason that it is an additional &urden to our student life, &ut still as
so!eone +ho is &orn a 'ilipino it is a !ust to *no+ a&out his life.
