QUE SIGNIFICA MAMALa madre desde una perspectiva cultural constituye un elemento esencial en la crianza de los individuos. Así como en la constitución de la institución familiar. El desarrollo fisiológico en el ser humano se complementa con la crianza familiar que posibilita el crecimiento integral ante la desventaja biológica con respecto a otras especies animales que no necesitan de cuidados extra para lograr sobrevivir por sí mismos durante los primeros momentos de vida, y por el contrario necesitan años de cuidados por parte de los padres, lo que establece de manera importante la prolongación del vínculo de apego que las madres humanas tienen sobre sus hijos.

El título de madre también puede ser dado a aquella mujer que cumpla este papel.
