Dear families of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, As the Sundays of Advent unfold the scriptures shift focus from the final coming of the Lord to his historical birth. Today’s scriptures blend the two. Isaiah’s disillusionment with the kings of his own day led him to envision an ideal king who would rule with divine approval and be led by divine wisdom. For centuries the Jewish people anticipated the arrival of that Messiah, who would usher in a blessed age when the whole world would finally dwell in justice and peace. After centuries of such growing expectation, the preaching of John the Baptist about the imminent arrival of the Messiah could not help but provoke intense interest. The Baptist’s message about preparation for “the one who is coming” (Matthew 3:11) makes clear that Jesus is, in fact, the long-awaited one who is ushering in the new age foretold by Isaiah and all the prophets. The month of December brings us many activities. We will have the Family Christmas Concert (December 6), Our Lady of Guadalupe Triduum (December 10-12), Posadas (December 16-23), and Miso de Gallo (December 16-24). The IHM family embraces the different cultures and moves forward to the celebration of the birth of Christ Jesus. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us Father Quang

Queridas familias del Inmaculado Corazón de María, A medida que los domingos de Adviento se deshacen, las Escrituras cambian su enfoque de la llegada final del Señor a su nacimiento histórico. Las escrituras de hoy combinan las dos. La desilusión de Isaías con los reyes de su época lo llevó a imaginar a un rey ideal que gobernaría con aprobación divina y sería guiado por la sabiduría divina. Durante siglos, el pueblo judío anticipó la llegada de ese Mesías, quien marcaría el comienzo de una era bendecida cuando el mundo entero finalmente moraría en la justicia y la paz. Dear Ministry Chairs, First of all, we would like to say THANK YOU to those of you who supported the Pancake Breakfast over the past years. God bless you and your ministry for the hours you put in serving during this fun event. Since the start of the breakfast in January 2014 there has been a small group of dedicated people who have been at church for EVERY breakfast. They have arrived at 6:30 am to set up, cook the breakfast, and clean up after the breakfast is over. Often this means being at the church until 1:30 pm or later. Several of these dedicated people have left the group due to a move or age or health issues. At this time, there are not enough people to carry the load after December 31. Deacon John has asked me to send out the following notification: "We may not have the PCB beginning January 2020 unless we come up with support groups to help us all the way through the kitchen clean up. The Parish Council has been informed that we may not have a PCB beginning January 2020 without that support." "Kitchen Clean Up" means washing and taking down the tables and chairs after the last meal (about 12:00 PM). It also means washing all of the dishes, pots and pans, etc., cleaning the stove, mopping the floor in the kitchen and the hall and returning the kitchen to the condition it was in upon the arrival of the crew at 6:30 am. If you have any ideas how we might be able to relieve or assist the current small group of dedicated monthly workers we are very open to suggestions.
