The XK’s are the next level inpower swivel engineering.Starting with a clean sheet ofpaper and 20 years in the powerswivel manufacturing and servicebusiness, we created the simplest

and most rugged power swivelsever built.

Designed for long life and easyservice, the XK’s are amazinglysimple. Each model uses one hightorque, hollow-shaft hydraulicmotor, which drives the swivel stemdirectly through a massivelubricated spline. The only movingparts are the motor, stem, bearings,and packing cartridge. No gearsare used, so hydraulic motor speed is the same as swivel speed - very low by hydraulic standards, and good for long life.Service is also simple with this arrangement, since the entire hydraulic motor is removed, including swivel shaft bearings andseals, by simply unbolting and pulling it off the stem. Unique lubrication and sealing features include pressure-lubricated lowerstem bearings, pressure-greased dual upper stem seals, and dual upper and lower motor seals. Finally, all seals run onreplaceable wear rings to prevent stem wear and corrosion. The XK’s also include our special valve which prevents downtimefrom blown shaft seals resulting from blocking or disconnecting the drain hose. Our first swivel patent was received in 2003, andother patent applications are in process.

Standard torque reaction arrangement uses one or two greasable telescoping torque arms, which include self-lubricatedsheaves for rolling on wire ropes tensioned between crown and floor, and our unique “bump-back” feature to prevent

hanging up on a mast girt. Additionally, the XK’s are designedwith a machined heavy bolting pad

on each side, which allowsattachment to any torque trackarrangement, including our own.

Available lifting devices includeelevator bails and ourCobrahook ™ link hooks, whichallow access to the gooseneck topconnection for horizontal drillingnavigation.

A variety of skid and trailerarrangements are available with awide range of engines. Our simpleand rugged triple hose reels useour “ugly gear” hydraulic drive,with readily-available “Chiksan”style swivel joints.

1980 - Larry Keast started Venturetech inhis garage to design and manufacture newventure s in tech nical equipment. Withintwo years, he decided that power swivelswere an interesting and exciting businessniche that needed competition anddevelopment. Venturetech then beganbuilding a well-respected internationalbusiness offering parts and service for allbrands of power swivels, buying andrefurbishing old units, and building newpower units. This happened over manyyears of oilfield ups and downs.

2000 - After several years of engineering,Venturetech proudly introduced the XK-90 &XK-150 power swivels, through our newpartnership, Swivel Engineering, LP.We have 8 people at this time.

2001 - We started hiring America’s“unemployables,” people in recovery fromdrugs & alcohol, and ex-offenders, and thisbegan the exciting transformation of our team.

2002 - We bought and moved into our 20,000square foot manufacturing facility with a 10-ton bridge crane and two-acre concrete yard.Our well-organized shop and productioncontrol “war room” allow us to servecustomers efficiently, and we’re getting betterall the time. 15 people by now.

2003 - Our first power swivel patent wasreceived. We started America in Recovery tohelp America’s small businesses replicate ourhiring success.We’re up to 20 people.

2004 - The XK-250 was introduced and ourtop drive patent was issued. 26 people.

2005 - We bought four more acres next doorand flew the Texas Longhorn flag in honor ofU.T.’s football national championship.35 people.

2006 - Our 25,000 ft-lb drilling rig simulator isin the final design & construction stage.47 people.

2007 - Our patented portable top drive isunder development.
