Avanzando hacia la Estrategia Española de Bioeconomía.
The BIOECONOMY encompasses the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and their waste streams into value added products such as food, feed, bio-based products and bioenergy.
It includes agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food and pulp and paper production, as well as parts of chemical, biotechnological and energy industries.
Its sectors have a strong innovation potential due to their use of a wide range of sciences (life sciences, agronomy, ecology, food science and social sciences), enabling and industrial technologies (biotechnology, nanotechnology, ITCs and engineering) and local and tacit knowledge.

– Some MMSSs (DE, NO, FI, BE, PL, DK, IE), already defined Bioeconomy Strategy or strong industrial Policies.
– Several MMSSs (TK, SE, ES, FR, UK, IT) planning to launch it by end 2015, 2016)
– Some MMSSs (RO, SK, PT) have no bioeconomy strategy in place nor foreseen in the short term; In some cases, Bioeconomy considered within RIS3
