El pronombre de relativo hace referencia

usualmente a la palabra que le antecede:

Shes the only woman WHO I love

WHO the woman

There is an advert WHICH she really hates

WHICH an advert

Despus de preposiciones empleamos WHOM parapersonas :

This is the boy about whom you were asking me

preposition

Pero es mas frecuente que coloquemos la preposicin enposicin final:

This is the boy WHO you were asking me about

la preposicin est ahora al final

Los pronombres relativos pueden omitirse si no sonsujeto de la oracin:

The house that we bought is very comfortable.

En esta frase se podra omitir porque no es sujeto.Cmo sabemos que no es sujeto? Porque no vaseguido del verbo

Fijate en la diferencia: The man who visited us yesterday is a professor

Aqu no se puede omitir pues va seguido del verbo

Tipos de oraciones

Las oraciones de relativo pueden ser de dostipos:

1) Explicativas .Van entre comas y se puedenomitir sin que eso impide que la entendamos:

The king of Spain,who lives in Madrid,is calledJuan Carlos.

Yo podra omitirla: The King of Spain is called Juan Carlos

2) Especificativas.No se pueden omitirporque si no la frase no tendra sentido:

The computerwhich we bought is very

expensive

Si lo omitimos no sabemos a que ordenador nosreferimos:

The computer is very expensive (cul?)
