Historical background of the country

MONGOLIA

• The name Mongol comes from a small tribe whose leader, Genghis Khan in the year 1206.

• began a conquest that would eventually encompass an enormous empire

• stretching from Asia to Europe, as far west as the Black Sea and as far south as India and the Himalayas.

• Decline seriously in the 14th century.

• In the year 1911, Mongolian separated into two groups which are Inner Mongolian (China) and Outer Mongolian (Russia).

• For over 3,000 years the nomadic tribes of Central Asia have lived in portable round abodes called ger or yurts.
