9A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola: 10Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro publicano. 11El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano. 13Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador. 14Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

El Ser nos habla de dos hombres diferentes.

Jesus is showing us two different men.

Dos personas totalmente opuestas.

Two totally different people.

11El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'

12ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano.

I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'

13Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

14Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Así también vosotros, cuando hayáis hecho todo lo que os ha sido ordenado, decid: Siervos inútiles somos, pues lo que debíamos hacer, hicimos.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

1Porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será enaltecido.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.

'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'
