Lead-in: T introduces time expressions such as in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, am, pm, midday, midnight. In order to do it, T relates what has been done last class, explains what am/pm means, and relates this to time expressions according to activities done regularly at those times. Students can suggest the activities too. Then T writes on the blackboard three categories “in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening.” And make students brainstorm activities that they do at those times.

Activity one: T gives Ss H1. In this activity students will categorise times into three categories: “in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening”. T will explain that “Midday” and “Midnight” are in between two times expressions and they must guess it.

Time Bingo: T gives one bingo card to each student in the class and tells them to draw a different time (o’clock) on each clock face in pencil.

In the space next to each clock face, Ss should write in the morning, in the afternoon or in the evening. Students should also use the expressions midday and midnight.

Then T calls out times. When Ss hear one of the times on their card, they should cross out the corresponding clock face.

The object of the game is for the students to get a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of crosses on their bingo card. When they have done this, they should shout Bingo!
