Día de la Tierra en Ausangate

En Ausangate hemos estado celebrando el Día de la Tierra esta

semana y, entre otras actividades, acordamos enviar a casa

una lista de tips ecológicos que esperamos les sean de utilidad:

Cocinar los alimentos sólo el tiempo necesario ayu-

dará a reducir el consumo de gas o energía eléctrica

si es el caso.

Abrir la refrigeradora sólo cuando sea necesario y

sacar los alimentos a usar de una sola vez.

Apagar los aparatos eléctricos que no se estén usan-

do y desconectarlos para evitar pérdida de energía.

Reparar las cosas en lugar de botarlas apenas dejan de fun-

cionar.

Comprar artículos usados o de segunda mano en buen esta-

do. Todo esto terminará en la basura y generará gastos millo-

narios innecesarios tanto en la producción como en la adquisi-

ción de artículos nuevos.

Descargar el software y la música en línea, siempre que sea

posible (al comprar un programa o música, suele venir en un

CD o DVD, es decir, 30.000.000 de discos al año que están

hechos de materiales tóxicos no biodegradables).

Al comprar un artículo nuevo, preguntarse si es realmente ne-

cesario.

Asegurarse de que haya contenedores de basura en casa que

sean adecuados para los diferentes tipos de desperdicios y que

los niños/as sepan dónde va cada uno de ellos. Se puede poner

un color para cada tipo de desecho pues es importante separar

los residuos en casa aunque no los vayas a reutilizar, esto facili-

tará la labor de los recicladores.

Plantado de árboles por el día de la Tierra

Con mucho éxito realizamos la jornada de plantado de árboles

y plantitas en las parcelas de nuestro colegio los días lunes 21 y

martes 22 como parte de las celebraciones por el Día de la Tie-

rra. Queremos nuevamente agradecer la donación de árboles

así como el entusiasmo y apoyo brindados por Paul Cripps,

papá de Lara, Oliver y Charlie de Octavo, Quinto y Tercero res-

pectivamente. También agradecemos a las familias que están

enviando las plantitas y un agradecimiento especial a los seño-

res Adrián Sallo y Rolando Quispe por la información y el apoyo

que brindaron a nuestros alumnos y alumnas esos días. En nues-

Earth Day at Ausangate

We’ve been celebrating Earth Day this week at school this

week. Among other activities, we agreed to send home a

list of green tips that we hope will be useful:

Don’t cook food longer than

necessary to help reduce the

consumption of gas or elec-

tricity.

Open the refrigerator only

when necessary and only

take food out once.

Turn off electrical appliances

when not in use and disconnect them to prevent

wasting energy.

Repair things that stop working instead of throwing

them away.

Buy used and second hand items in good condition.

These all end up in the trash and generate unnec-

essary costs millionaires in production and in the

acquisition of new items.

Download software and online music instead of buying

a CD or DVD whenever possible (ie 30,000,000 al-

bums a year are made of non-biodegradable toxic

materials).

When purchasing a new item, ask yourself if it is really

necessary.

Make sure that waste bins at home that are appropri-

ate for different types of waste and that children

know where each type of garbage goes. You can

use one color for each type of waste. It is important

to separate waste at home even if you don’t reuse

them as this aids recyclers.

Earth Day Tree Planting

We had a very successful day planting trees and plants in

the plots of our school Monday, the 21st and Tuesday, the

22nd as part of our Earth Day Celebration. We would like to

thank 8th Grader Lara, 5th Grader Oliver, and 3rd Grader

Charlie’s dad, Paul Crips again for donating the trees as

well as his enthusiasm and support. We would also like to

thank all families who are sending in plants as well as Adrian

Sallo and Rolando Quispe for the information and support

they gave our students those days. You can see pictures of

the days’ events on our Facebook page. Check them out

and feel free to “like” or comment on them.

We invite you to visit www.ecoanperu.org . They provided

the trees with Paul Cripps. Their goal is to plant a million

trees by 2020 – we can all help!

Juegos Florales por el Día del Libro

Estamos muy contentos de contarles que hemos

tenido mucho éxito al realizar nuestro primer con-

curso literario por motivo de los Juegos Florales rea-

lizados en celebración del Día del Libro el pasado

miércoles 23. El equipo calificador de Ausangate

conformado por profesores/as, coordinadoras y

directora fuimos los encargados de corregir los

trabajos literarios presentados por nuestros alumnos

y alumnas. Nos hemos deleitado leyendo buenos e

interesantes trabajos. Los temas han sido muy va-

riados y, en algunos casos, controversiales. Nos place que la lite-

ratura sea un canal de expresión para nuestros alumnos. Agrade-

cemos el esfuerzo de todos los participantes y felicitamos a los

ganadores de las diversas categorías En nuestra página de Face-

book podrán ver las fotos que hemos subido y darle “like” y co-

mentar. Un agradecimiento especial a la profe Ana Escoruela por

su motivación y apoyo.

Feriado largo

Tal como anunciamos a principio de año en nuestro calendario

anual, el viernes 2 de mayo no trabajaremos, a cambio del feria-

do del Día del Maestro en julio. Esperamos que disfruten del fin de

semana largo.

Préstamos de Biblioteca

Recuerden que, para poder acceder a este servicio, deben

haber firmado el Compromiso de Uso de la Biblioteca entregado

durante las entrevistas con padres. Si no tuvieran esa información

a la mano, por favor solicitarla al/la profe de su hijo/a. ¡Esperamos

que nuestros alumnos/as puedan usar la Biblioteca al máximo

este año!

Uso de gorros y bloqueadores

Es obligatorio que nuestros alumnos y alumnas usen gorros y blo-

queadores durante las horas en que están expuestos al sol. Les

agradeceremos cumplir con esta norma y conversar con sus

hijos/as para que las respeten.

Literary Competition for World Book Day

We are very pleased to report that our first

literary competition in honor of World Book

Day last Wednesday the 23rd was a great

success. The Ausangate evaluation team

(comprised of teachers, coordinators, and

the principal) really enjoyed reading won-

derful and interesting works. The topics were

quite varied and in some cases controver-

sial. We are happy that literature can be a

way for our students to express themselves.

We would like to thank all of the participants and we con-

gratulate the winners in the different categories. We will

be posting pictures of the winners today. Check them out

and feel free to “like” or comment on them. Special

thanks go out to teacher Ana Escoruela for her motivation

and support.

Long Weekend

As we announced in our annual calendar at the begin-

ning of the year, there will not be school on May 2nd in lieu

of Teacher Day in July.

We hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Borrowing from the Library

In order to borrow books from the library, you must have

signed the library form distributed during Parent-Teacher

interviews. Please ask your child’s teacher through the

communication book if you need this form. We look for-

ward to our students using the library a great deal this

year!

Use of Hats and Sunblock

It is mandatory for students to use hats and sunblock when

they are exposed to the sun. Thank you for following this

rule and talking with your children about respecting it.
