Vietnam Airlines is launching a new direct route linking Hanoiand Fukuoka in southern Japan.

From October 10, Vietnam Airlines will be operating flights every Tuesday and Saturday on the new route, using Airbus 320 planes,reducing travel time between Hanoi and Fukuoka to just four hours.

Vietnam Airlines has been operating Ho Chi Minh City-Fukuoka route

with three flights per week since September 2003. With the launch ofthe new Hanoi-Fukuoka route, the number of flights from Ho Chi MinhCity to the southern Japanese city will be reduced to two per week.One of the six largest cities in Japan, with an area of 1,166 square kmand a population of 1.42 million, Fukuoka is the economic and scientif-ic hub of Japan's south-western region, and is home to leading

Japanese businesses such as Toyota, Kyushu , Nissan and Daihatsu,alongside more than 2,000 hi-tech businesses in sectors such asbiotechnology, hydropower, and information and communicationstechnology.
