La historia de Madrid se escribe en sus calles. Su entramado urbano es una perfecta y detallada radiografía de la historia que ha ido fraguando la fi losofía de la Villa. Pero la Historia se hace día a día, y mucho ha cambiado la vida de la ciudad. Realmente la evolución es continua, si queremos exagerar, podemos defi nirla segundo a segundo o foto a foto.

Nacho Gil fi rma la imagen de la cubierta dentro de su último proyecto. Este madrileño ha enfocado su afi ción a la fotografía teniendo la vida de la ciudad como sujeto paciente. Tras ponerle color a las calles con su proyecto Callejeando Madrid, ahora inicia una nueva aventura en blanco y negro. Madrid Street Photography es el nombre de un nuevo relato contado a base de fotogramas anónimos, pero con personas y momentos como los protagonistas del silencio propio de una imagen. La nueva iniciativa ya cuenta con millares de seguidores en las RRSS, ahora también a bordo de un taxi.

Tras nuestra imagen de portada con la inmensidad que nos da ese enfoque de la Gran Vía el resto de páginas deben hablar de oferta cultural. Cultura, gastronomía y tiempo libre reinan en las páginas de este número. Una mención especial para el deporte, pues vuelve la Liga Endesa. Como es tradición te invitaremos a todos los partidos que el Movistar Estudiantes compita como local.

The history of Madrid is written in its streets. Its urban confi guration provides a perfect, detailed x-ray of the history that has forged the philosophy of the villa. But History is made every day, and life in the city has changed greatly. Its evolution is actually continuous. If we want to take it to an extreme, we can even defi ne it second by second, or photo by photo.

Nacho Gil shot the image on the cover of his latest release. This Madrilenian has adopted life in the city as the focus of his body of photographic work. After infusing its streets with color in his Callejeando Madrid, he now undertakes a new adventure, this time in black and white. Madrid Street Photography is the name of a new book based on anonymous shots, with people and moments as the protagonists of the silence inherent to images. The new effort already boasts thousands of followers on the social networks, its presence expanding to taxis as well.

After our cover image, with that immense perspective of the Gran Vía, the remaining pages should contain cultural options: culture, food and options for your free time grace the pages of this issue. Sports merit a special mention, with the return of the ENDESA professional basketball league. And, as is our tradition, we’re giving away tickets to Movistar Estudiantes' home games.

El lago de los cisnes, Carmen (junto a Las Sílfi des y Celeste) y Don Quijote, todo de la mano de la coreógrafa Alicia Alonso. Del 16 de septiembre al 4 de octubre las obras más famosas del repertorio tradicional inundarán el recinto con transformaciones, encantamientos y monstruos malignos; contradicciones esenciales entre la personalidad y las fuerzas de su época; y la dignifi cación del icono del idioma castellano y de la cultura de raíz hispánica. Ballet, danza y referencias folclóricas en los Teatros del Canal. Swan Lake, Carmen (along with Les Sylphides and Celeste) and Don Quixote, all featuring the work of choreographer Alicia Alonso. From 16 September to 4 October the traditional repertoire's most famous works will fi ll the venue, with transformations, spells and malevolent monsters; essential contradictions between the personality and the forces of the time; and the dignifi cation of the icon of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. El 125 aniversario de la cerveza Mahou se celebra por todo lo alto en la Sala Bóveda del Centro Cultural Conde Duque durante nada menos que cinco meses. Contenidos interactivos, recorridos de reparto en furgonetas históricas, encuen-tros con personajes conocidos, exposiciones o catas gratuitas son solo algunas actividades de las que se llevarán a cabo. Uno de los platos fuertes será además la exposición fotográfi ca Almayso, dentro del programa de PhotoEspaña, que podrá verse hasta el 27 de septiembre y que ofrece una selección de imágenes del estudio fundado por Alfredo Mahou, en 1870. El 125th anniversary of Mahou beer is marked with a big celebration at the Sala Bóveda at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque for a whole fi ve months. Interactive contents, distribution routes in old trucks, meetings with famous fi gures, exhibitions and free tastings are some of the activities “on tap.”One of the highlights will be the photo exhibition Almayso, as part of the PhotoEspaña program, running through 27 September and offering a selection of images from the studio founded by Alfredo Mahou in 1870.

In 1948, the artist began to produce photo montages arising from her analysis of dreams that women readers sent to the editorial offi ce where she worked. El otro día escuché a Juan Mayorga decir en una entrevista que los bue-nos actores son aquellos que, con su elocuencia, sin apenas atrezzo, son capaces de hacer imaginar al espectador e introducirlos en la obra. En el escenario sólo hay una cama, un par de sillas, una caja de made-ra, un cuaderno y algunos dibujos, y yo estuve atrapado en el sótano donde se desarrolla la trama todo el tiempo, imaginándome en la piel de los dos protagonistas, asistiendo a esa lucha dialéctica y corporal entre dos personajes, víctima y verdugo, que afrontan la existencia y viven sus propias vidas de una forma radicalmente distinta. Dos per-sonalidades complejas y angulosas. Luz y oscuridad bajo un mismo techo. Vidas atormentadas.

Por primera vez en teatro Arte&Desmayo estrenó hace dos temporadas, por primera vez en Es-paña, la versión teatral de la conocida novela de John Fowles que ya fue adaptada al cine en 1965. En ella un coleccionista de mariposas que vive obsesionado con una mujer ve cumplidos sus -macabros- sueños de estar con ella cuando, gracias a un golpe de suerte, puede comprar una casa de campo donde la encierra, poniendo a su dispo-sición todo lo que desee, con el objetivo de que ella llegue a aceptarlo como pareja con el tiempo. Un duelo vital por poseer, dominar y ser amado. Un duelo vital por escapar, liberarse y ser amada. Un trabajo que afronta de manera magistral la deshumanización a la que estamos abocados en nuestra cultura dominada por el tener y no por el ser.Al terminar la función, cuando pude liberarme y quitarme el alfi ler del pecho que me oprimía -me sentía como una mariposa más de las que Frederick tiene en su pared-, comprendí que Mayorga tenía razón.

The other day I heard Juan Mayorga say in an interview that good actors are those who, with their eloquence, almost without any props, are able to make audiences imagine and draw them into a work. On the stage there is just a bed, a pair of chairs, a wooden box, a notebook and some drawings, and I was trapped in the cellar whe-rethe whole story takes place, imagining myself in the protagonists' shoes, mesmerized by the dialectic and corporal struggle between two character, victim and persecutor, who confront existence and live their lives in radically different ways. Two complex and pitiable personalities. Light and the dark under the same ceiling. Tormen-ted lives.

First time on stageTwo seasons back Arte&Desmayo released, for the fi rst time in Spain, the theater version of the well-known John Fowles novel, a movie version having been done in 1965. In it a butterfl y collector who is obsessed with a woman sees his (macabre) dreams come true when, thanks to a stroke of luck, he is able to buy a country house where he locks her up and tries to give her everything she wants so that she will accept him as her lover. A vital struggle to pos-sess, dominate and be loved. A vital duel to escape, break free and be loved. A work that masterfully addresses the dehumanization to which we are condemned by a culture obsessed with having rather than being.After the show I was able to fi nally escape and pluck the painful pin from my chest, feeling like one more butterfl y on Frederick´s wall. I realized that Mayorga was right.

Del 2 de octubre al 10 de enero, el Teatro Amaya aco-ge la segunda temporada de Enfrentados después del gran éxito del año pasado, aunque esta vez con tiem-po limitado, solo por 11 semanas. El padre José María (Arturo Fernández) es un sacerdo-te católico que comparte sus tareas con un programa de televisión semanal en el que se debaten los temas de actualidad de la Iglesia. Todo va tranquilo y rutina-rio hasta que un día aparece el joven Tomás (Bruno Ciordia), un seminarista apasionado y rebelde que va a trastocar muchas cosas en la Parroquia de Nuestra Se-ñora, dando lugar a algún que otro enfrentamiento que llevará al espectador a estar entre la risa y la ternura durante toda la obra.

From 2 October to 10 January, the Teatro Amaya pre-sents the second season of Enfrentados, following the great success it enjoyed last year, although this time it will run for just 11 weeks.Father José María (Arturo Fernández) is a Catholic priest who combines his clerical duties with hosting a weekly television program that addresses current issues in the Church. Everything goes smoothly and without incident until the young Tomás (Bruno Ciordia) arrives, a passionate and rebellious semi-narian who will shake things up at the Parish of Our Lady and create more than one confrontation that will both amuse and move audiences of the work.

‘Madrid es una ciudad llena de vida y de contrastes’, así la defi -ne el artista Nacho Gil, que después de dos años fotografi ando la ciudad para su proyecto Callejeando Madrid consiguió miles de seguidores en Facebook y publicó un libro a través de una campaña "crowdfunding”, que recaudó más de veinte mil euros en cuarenta días. Gracias a tan buena acogida, pudo realizar una donación a una ONG para un proyecto de becas de come-dor en un colegio de Madrid y presentar una selección de su trabajo en una exposición.Aunque no se dedica profesionalmente a la fotografía, tras el éxito de la publicación del libro y la exposición decidió descan-sar un año y continuar con su formación fotográfi ca leyendo libros de autores como Diane Airbus, Cartier Brasson, Joan Colom, Robert Frank, Catalá Roca, William Klein, Garry Wino-grand, Vivian Maier... Todos ellos muy relacionados, de una u

"Madrid is a full city of life and contrasts," according to ar-tist Nacho Gil, who, after two years shooting the city for his project Callejeando Madrid garnered thousands of followers on Facebook and published a book, through a crowdfunding campaign, that brought in more than 20,000 euros in 40 days. Thanks to this strong response he was able to make a dona-tion to an ONG for a cafeteria grant at a Madrid school and present a selection of his works at an exhibition.Although he is not a career photographer, following the suc-cess of his book's publication and the exhibition he decided to take a year to continue with his photographic education by going over works by the likes of Diane Airbus, Cartier Brasson, Joan Colom, Robert Frank, Catalá Roca, William Klein, Garry Winogrand, Vivian Maier... They are all closely related, in one way or another, to street photography. This

Y así acaba de nacer su último proyecto, Madrid Street Photo-graphy, que en tan solo dos semanas llegó a tener miles de seguidores en Facebook. Una fotografía documental del momento actual, de las perso-nas que vivimos una época, de la cultura que nos rodea. El artista quiere captar la realidad de la calle, sus salidas foto-gráfi cas exploran los instantes y sus expresiones furtivas, en su evolución personal cada vezbusca más el contacto con las personas y con la vida de la ciudad.Para él, enfrentarse a las situaciones con la cámara y resolver-las de la mejor manera posible, es una motivación para mejorar y aprender. Experimentar, equivocarse, superar sus limitacio-nes a base de trabajo y, sobre todo, hacer muchas fotografías. Una realidad que puedes ver a través de la ventanilla de tu taxi y que Nacho Gil consigue condensar para que disfrutes conti-nuamente de ese viaje al que llaman vida.

A photographic portrayal of the present day, of those of us living through this time, of the culture that surrounds us. The artist seeks to depict the reality out on the streets. His pho-tographic outings explore different moments and their furtive expressions, as in his personal evolution he seeks more con-tact with people and life in the city.Tackling these situations with his camera and handling them in the best possible way motivates him to improve and to keep on learning. Experimenting, making mistakes, overco-ming limitations through hard work and, above all, taking lots of pictures. A reality that you can see through the window of your taxi, and that Nacho Gil manages to crystallize, so that you can continue to enjoy the journey called life.

E l Grupo Paso Viviente de Calahorra organiza la recreación del Mercado Romano de Calagurris, nombre dado a la

ciudad hacia el siglo II a. C., cuando el general romano Catón consiguió el sometimiento a Roma de los pueblos del valle del Ebro. El período romano fue muy fl oreciente y favorecedor para Calagurris, que inicialmente obtuvo el título de Nassica en el año 171 a.C. por Publio Cornelio Escipión. La fama de sus guerreros era tal que Augusto incluso formó una guardia personal con soldados procedente de la zona. La primera noticia del establecimiento del cristianismo en el municipio de Calahorra se tiene en referencia al martirio y ajusticiamiento de los que ahora son sus patrones, San Emeterio y San Celedonio, que fueron legionarios romanos que abrazaron la fe de Cristo y como consecuencia de ello fueron decapitados.

The Grupo Paso Viviente of Calahorra organ-izes the recreation of the Roman Market of the market at Calagurris - the name given to the city circa 200 BC, when the Roman gen-eral Cato managed to conquer the peoples of the Valley of the Ebro and subject them to the Empire.The Roman period was one during which Calagurris fl ourished and prospered, coming to be called "Nassica" in 171 BC by Scipio the Great. Its warriors became so famous that Augustus even created a personal guard composed of soldiers from the area.
