    INTERPERSONAL BASES OF POWER

    It is based upon the interpersonalrelationships between the manager and thesubordinate.

    Reward power : the extent of reward power dependsupon the extent to which one control rewards thatare valued by another.

    Coercive power : it is the ability to influencepunishment. Fear of punishment may make thesubordinate execute the instructions of the boss.

    Expert power : it is based upon the perception orbelief that the influences has some relevantexpertise or special knowledge that the others donot have.

    Legitimate power : it is the positional power becauseof the authority inherent in the position.

    Referent power : it is known as charismatic power andis based upon the attraction exerted by oneindividual over another.

    STRUCTURAL BASES OF POWER:

    it is the another dimension of power. Itinvolves the following;

    Knowledge : the individuals or groups who possesscritical knowledge are assumed to be very powerfulpeople in the organization.

    Resources : organizations cannot survive without theadequate availability of all the necessary resources.

    Decision making : another bases of power is the

    authority to influence the decision maker.
