Bandera Verde: La pista está libre.Green flag: The track is clear.

Bandera Azul: Indica a un piloto que se le va a adelantar.Blue Flag: Indicates to a rider that he is about to be overtaken.

Bandera Amarilla: Ondeada en cada fila de la parrilla de salida, estabandera indica que el comienzo de la carrera se ha retrasado. Una

bandera amarilla ondeada en el puesto de comisario indica que hay peligro másadelante junto a la pista.•Dos banderas amarillas ondeando juntas en el puestode comisario indican que hay un obstáculo total o parcialmente bloqueando lapista. Championship for the 6th time. TheAlcañiz circuit is delighted to host thisevent, as one of the most anticipated onthe calendar by the many fans who comehere to this fantastic facility.

With some of the best riders in theworld fighting on the track and with avaried and exciting programme of

complementary activities in the Paddock,we are confident of a strong weekend.

Aragón returns to the world stage onceagain with World Superbike, a series thatis followed eagerly by a global televisionaudience spanning 180 countries. Theinternational projection that accompaniesan event of this category highlights theimportance of great organisationalcapacity of MotorLand, a circuit thatcontributes to the image of our community

that is recognised and appreciated bymotorcycle lovers worldwide.

The great image of World Superbikealso helps promote the region with thehospitality of its people and the festiveatmosphere surrounding this event,especially with the many visitors whocome here.

Finally, I would like to welcome theriders, teams, federations and organisersof the Motul FIM Superbike World

Championship, and hope that both theAragónese fans and visitors from furtherafield enjoy a weekend that promisestruly unforgettable racing.

ONCE AGAIN BOTH the FIMSuperbike and Supersport WorldChampionships look to have all

the key ingredients for another epic seasonof close and hard-fought racing. A quickreview of the 2016 calendar reveals anincredibly healthy fourteen-round campaignstarting in March and reaching its climax inlate October. The ensuing battle to becomeKing of the respective classes will see theriders visit eleven different countries spreadfrom as far afield as Australia and America,

again confirming the truly global status ofthis series.

The 2016 season started with a newname at the helm, namely Britain’sJonathan Rea who will look to defend hisFIM World Superbike Championship, a titlethat the rider from Northern Ireland hasworked and waited so long for. Hopefully hisrecent triumph will inspire others, be themthe established names who have not yetmade it to the top or the interesting mix ofemerging talent that might become an FIM

World Champion in the future. Since its first edition back in 1988, this

production-based motorcycle series hasgone from strength to strength over thepast two and a half decades with all of theWorld’s leading two-wheel manufacturershaving competed in this Championship, andmany having also tasted success on thisglobally applauded and recognised stage.

As with all successful stories this is theresult of a great team effort and isfollowing many years of hard work and good

collaboration between all the partiesinvolved. It is with this in mind that I wantto say thank you to our promoter, DornaWorldSBK Organization, our nationalfederations, our organisers and volunteers,our sponsors, our riders, our teams, themedia and finally you the fans.

UNA VEZ MÁS, los campeonatosdel mundo de FIM Superbike ySupersport tienen todos los

ingredientes para traernos unatemporada épica de carreras al límite.Una vista rápida al calendario de 2016nos muestra una campaña muy saludable(catorce rondas) y que empezará enmarzo, para alcanzar su clímax a finalesde octubre. En la batalla para convertirseen el rey de cada categoría veremos a lospilotos visitar 11 países distintos de todoel mundo, incluyendo Australia y EstadosUnidos, lo que confirma el estatus globalde la competición.

La temporada de 2016 ha empezadocon un nuevo hombre al mando: elbritánico Jonathan Real que querrárevalidar su título del campeón delmundo de World Superbike, un título queel piloto norirlandés no está dispuesto aceder. Sin duda su triunfo inspirará aotros, tanto pilotos ya conocidos quetodavía no han triunfado como nuevosvalores que ansían que demostrar su valía.

Desde su nacimiento en 1988, estaserie de competiciones de motociclismobasada en modelos de producción ha idoganando cada vez más fuerza: todos los

principales fabricantes de dos ruedas delmundo han competido en estecampeonato y muchos han gozado deléxito y reconocimientos mundiales allograr el título.

Como todas las historias de éxito,esta es el resultado de un gran esfuerzoconjunto y muchos años de duro trabajo ygrandes colaboraciones entre todas laspartes involucradas. Es con esto enmente que quiero darle las gracias anuestro promotor, la organización DornaWorldSBK, a nuestras federacionesnacionales, organizadores y voluntarios,a nuestros patrocinadores y pilotos, a los

medios y por último a vosotros: losaficionados.

ARAGÓN ES UNO de mis circuitos favoritosy es muy especial para mí, ¡porque estáen España! Es un circuito largo, algo que

me gusta, además en realidad es un circuito endos partes. Una es rápida y la otra es lenta ytécnica, pero esta clase de fusiones me gustan. Es un circuito particularmente técnico en la

sección antes de la recta trasera y hay dospuntos de frenada fuerte antes de la chicane quelleva a ella. Como Aragón es bastante amplio, no es un

circuito de una línea. Puedes seguir muchaslíneas distintas, algunas más rápidas que otrasclaro está. Aunque es un circuito con cambios deelevación, no es muy físico. Cuando se construyóera bastante abrasivo pero a lo largo de los añosse ha asentado y el desgaste de las ruedas ya no es un gran problema. En esta época del año el agarre no es un problema, pero si se compitiera

en verano, las altas temperaturas complicarían poder celebrar una carreracompleta de Superbikes. Una vez competí aquí en mitad del verano ytuvimos que reducir la distancia de la carrera, ¡la temperatura de la pistallegó a los 62ºC! Es un circuito muy seguro: las zonas de seguridad songrandes y cuenta con un buen agarre tanto en seco como mojado.Aunque hay muchos lugares para adelantar, en la

primera sección escasean. La mayoría de losadelantamientos se hacen durante las frenadas: en laprimera curva está bien, en la izquierda larga antes de la chicane de la recta trasera y también al entrar en la chicane.Es un buen circuito para Ducati: ¡la temporada pasada

Chaz Davies le dio a Panigale su primera victoria enSuperbikes! Ese fin de semana tuve que sustituir a DavideGiugliano así que aquí mi Ducati también me transmitebuenas sensaciones. En las rectas largas sufriremos unpoco, pero la moto se mueve muy bien y podemoscompensar ese tiempo en otras zonas del circuito. Este añopodemos correr con escapes más libres, lo que nos da unmayor torque, así que puede que seamos máscompetitivos que el año pasado.Para mí Aragón es muy importante: ¡compito en

casa! No solo porque está en España, es que estámuy cerca de mi hogar y muchos de mis amigosseguidores vendrán a verme.En una ocasión competí aquí en el Campeonato CEV de

España, en una BMW S1000RR. La moto tuvo un problemaeléctrico en la vuelta de calentamiento, ¡así que tuve quecorrer toda la carrera con tan solo dos cilindros! WorldSBK

A RAGÓN IS ONE of my favourite tracks and it is special for mebecause it is in Spain! It is a long circuit – which I like – and itreally is a track of two parts. One is fast and the other part is

slow and technical and I like this kind of a mix. It is a technical track especially on the section before the back

straight, and there are two particularly hard braking points before thechicane leading on to it. Because Aragón is quite wide, it is not a one-line track. You can take

many different lines – with some faster than others, of course. Eventhough it is a track with elevation changes, it is not very physical.When the track was first made, it was quite abrasive but, over theyears, it has settled down and now tyre wear is not really a problem. At this time of the year grip is not an issue but if we were to race

here in summer the high temperatures would make it difficult to run afull Superbike race distance. I raced here once in mid summer and wehad to reduce the race distance because the track temperature hit62°c! BMWBMW are back with two works-supported teams in World Superbike for2016, the most established of which is the Italian Althea squad, runningSpaniard Jordí Torres who won his first race in the series at the lastround in Qatar last season. The former Moto2 race winner took a while toget used to production-based bikes, but quickly proved to be a constantfront runner. That won’t be a problem for his young, fast team mateMarkus Reiterberger who was German Superbike Champion while still inhis teens in 2013. He is also the current IDM Champion and he is seen ashis country’s brightest hope in his native Germany.Josh Brookes returns to World Superbike with the British Milwaukee

squad who he teamed up with to become British Superbike Championlast year on a Yamaha. This year they too have season BMWs at theirdisposal and Brookes will be keen to show his prowess on the worldstage. There is another former Grand Prix man with Milwaukee, as KarelAbraham comes in after a victory in his final Moto2 GP race in 2010 whichhe followed with 5 solid MotoGP seasons.>

The Panigale 1199Rhandles well and has good acceleration but it’s1200cc vee-twin engine still loses out to the fasterfour-cylinder bikes in terms of outright horsepowerand therefore top speed which may be telling here.Davies, however, uses the supreme stability of his

1199R machine to brake later than anyone else andthen use his bike’s low-speed torque to fire it out ofcorners making for compulsive viewing. Chaz – oneof those rare racers who has won races on threemakes of bike in this series – will be keen tochallenge all the way through this season.Giugliano showed great speed last season but his

year was curtailed after two crashes that seriouslydamaged his back. The Italian is brave and hisspeed is impressive and he needs to curb a little ofboth to get the best out of his bike and himself.Spaniard Xavi Fores deputised for Davide in the

Aruba team at two rounds last year with somestrong finishes. That has helped him to gain a placewith the Italian Barni squad full time for this season.German Superbike Champion in 2014, Xavi will berelishing the chance for a full season on a fast bike.

MV AgustaLeon Camier starts his 2nd full season on the F4 MV Agusta but not beforeMarco Melandri had a chance to test the bike and make several suggestionsto development of the bike’s electronics. There had been talk that Marcowould get a full season on the bike, which is now being run by the formerGrand Prix squad, Forward Racing. This will be another honing year forLeon and the team with what is one of the older machines on the grid, untilthe new model is readied.

ApriliaAt the very last minute a deal was arranged for Aprilia to stay in WorldSuperbike, with another former GP team, Ioda Racing, taking over the reigns.Switching from MotoGP is Alex de Angelis who makes his debut in the series.Alongside him will be the marque’s reigning Superstock 1000 ChampionLorenzo Savadori who was 2nd here last year. Alex is still getting over aserious injury from last year and that may hinder him early season. CON LA FUSIÓN en 2016 del campeonatoEuropean Superstock 600 con el WorldSupersport, en esta temporada la clase de

peso medio ha tenido que competir conelectrónicas revisadas para reducir costes y ponermás énfasis en las habilidades de los pilotos. Dehecho, las motos de 600cc todavía tienen lapotencia tradicional del Supersport (superior a lade las motos de Moto2, por supuesto) con unpaquete electrónico más similar al de Superstock yrestricciones en el control de la tracción y antideslizamientos. ¡Todo eso, junto al nuevo formatode clasificación Superpole en consonancia conSuperbike hace que esta clase sea másapasionante que nunca!

Honda Si Kenan y Randy tienen que volver a pelear esta temporada, puedes estarseguro de que lo harán sin perder de vista al estadounidense Patrick "PJ"Jacobsen. El piloto de Nueva York vivió el año pasado dos temporadas en una:empezó con el equipo checo Intermoto, que tras la ronda del Reino Unidoabandonó la competición. Sus Kawasakis no han vuelto a competir desde el añoanterior, pero PJ no pudo quedar entre los cinco primeros en las cinco carrerasposteriores a un comienzo dubitativo en Phillip Island. Tras la desaparición de suequipo verde, lo recogió el equipo Thai Core, con el que ganó su ronda en casacon su compatriota Ratthapark Wilairot. Tras la separación de su equipo, PJllegó a Ten Kate con la moto preparada y quedó 3º, 2º, 1º, 2º y 1º en sus 5primeras carreras con ellos. En 2016 Jacobsen volverá a montar la misma TenKate Honda y espera poder mejorar su puesto de subcampeón de la temporadapasada.

El equipo PTR, dirigido por el ex-piloto de GP Simon Buckmaster, vuelve acontar con cuatro motos este año y tienen el equipo más fuerte de suhistoria. El que fuera piloto de Ten Kate y subcampeón de las 8 horasde Suzuka, Kyle Smith, es un británico residente en España que ganóla última ronda de la serie en Qatar. Tras demostrar el año pasadocon KTR una gran velocidad, pero también una propensión aestrellarse con demasiada frecuencia, Kyle fue imparable en Qatary el piloto patrocinado por Honda ha encontrado su sitio este añocon PTR. > MV Agusta El equipo MV Augusta sigue con la misma alineación del año pasado con elfrancés y veterano del campeonato Jules Cluzel junto al italiano LorenzoZanetti. Está claro que sus motos tienen potencia y cualquier miedo a quetuvieran problemas con las nuevas regulaciones sobre electrónica fueronaplastadas rápidamente cuando sus veloces Cluzel se pusieron al frentePhillip Island y lucharon por el título hasta que tuvieron problemas con lacaja de cambios. Para Alex Baldolini todo queda en familia con su Race Department

ATK#25 MV. El año pasado logró un excelente 8º puesto en la lucha por eltítulo del año pasado. Un puesto por delante de él en la clasificación finalde 2015 está Roberto Rolfo, que este año vuelve con una MV triple, cortesíadel equipo italiano Factory Racing Vamag. El ultra-adaptable Roby le dio aMV su primer podio internacional en 37 años en Donington en 2013, paradespués pasarse a Kawasaki en 2014 y después a Honda el año pasado. Tras la lesión de Cluzel el año pasado, llegó el campeón del mundo de GP

125 en 2011 y ganador en Moto2, Nicolas Terol, que demostró una buenavelocidad con la moto. Yamaha Una vez más una de las motos de carreras de Supersport más veloces, laYamaha R6 contará con un único participante, pero estará en manos deljoven británico Kyle Ryde. Todo un fenómeno del motor, Kyle ganó la seriebritánica de 125 a los 14 años, fue campeón del STK 600 en el Reino Unido alos 17 y el año pasado fue campeón del Supersport británico. Oh, y en sudebut en el World Supersport en Donington logró subir al podio, obteniendolas alabazas del campeón, Kenan Sofuoglu. FIM Europe Supersport CupEste año habrá una clase distinta dentro del campeonato principal delWoldSSP, pensada para pilotos que solo quieran competir en las rondaseuropeas. Esto aumentará el ya floreciente grupo en más de 10 motos,poniendo a la serie en su mejor estado de salud desde hace muchastemporadas. season sees the middleweight class running withrevised electronics to cut costs and put moreemphasis on rider skills. In effect the 600cc racersout there still have traditional Supersport power(which is more than Moto2 bikes, of course) with amore Superstock-like electronics package withrestrictions on traction and anti-wheelie control. Allthat and a new Superpole qualifying format inlinewith Superbike makes this class more excitingthan ever!

KawasakiKenan Sofuoglu is a four-time worldChampion and record winner in the serieswith 32 victories – coming up to Thailand –to his name. The man from Turkey is aphenomenal rider perfectly suited to themiddleweight bikes. And he has helped

make the Kawasaki into a stunning racer.Once again Kenan is with Italian Manuel Puccetti’s eponymous Kawasaki

team and this time around he is teamed with Swiss former Moto2 man RandyKrummenacher who has been plying his trade in Grands Prix since he was 16back in 2006. At the opening round Kenan dominated the weekend but when histyre failed near the end of the race, Randy was there to take a debut victory inthe series. The speed of the two Puccetti riders will be worrying for the rest. The Italian Go Eleven squad from Turin in Northern Italy are back with two

ZX–6Rs this season, with Christian Gamarino (10th in class last year) continuingfor another season and looking very strong in Australia, while Czech

rider Ondrej Jezek steps over from Superstock1000. Ondrej has finished, 6th, 6th and 5th in thepast three STK 1000 seasons with 5 podiumplaces and a win to his credit.

The Valencia, Spain, Orelac team are backagain this time with green bikes to replacetheir Hondas. Nacho Calero (his family team

name is his surname in reverse…), a podium man inSuperstock 600, is back with another former GP manalongside. 24-year-old Malaysian rider ZulfahmiKhairuddin comes into the squad after a career thatstarted in 2009 in 125 GPs and progressed to Moto3.

Their Kawasakis had not beentouched since the previous year but PJ didn’t finishout of the top 5 in the 5 races following a cautiousstart at Phillip Island. After his green teamdisappeared he was picked up to ride for the ThaiCORE squad who won their home round withcompatriot rider Ratthapark Wilairot. After he splitfrom his team, PJ came in on the Ten Kate-preparedbike and racked up a 3rd, 2nd 1st, 2nd and 1st in hisfirst 5 races for them. For 2016 Jacobsen is ridingthe same Ten Kate Honda again and will be hopingto beat his runner-up spot in the series last year. The PTR squad, run by former GP racer Simon

Buckmaster, is back up to four bikes for this yearand they have their strongest line-up ever. FormerTen Kate man, and runner up at the Suzuka 8 Hours,Kyle Smith is a Spanish-domiciled Briton who wonthe last round of the series in Qatar. Aftershowing speed but a propensity to crash toooften with TKR last year, Kyle was peerless inQatar and the Honda-backed rider finds aberth with PTR for this year. Alongside willbe fellow Briton Luke Stapleford whoutterly dominated British Supersportlast season on his Triumph 675, with 14wins from 24 races while only finishingoff the podium 4 times… Getting used to a

MV Agusta The works MV Agusta team has the same line up as last year withFrenchman and series stalwart Jules Cluzel continuing with ItalianLorenzo Zanetti. The bikes certainly have power and any fears thatthey may struggle with the new electronics regulations werequickly dispelled when the very fast Cluzel made it to the front inPhillip Island, was challenging for the win and then had gearboxissues. That has been a weak point on the bike for some time whichneeds to be sorted. Gino Rea also has an F3 675 at his disposal, entered by former GP

A truephenomenon, Kyle won the British 125 series at age14, was STK 600 Champion in the UK aged 17 andwas runner up in British Supersport last year. Ohand on his World Supersport debut at Doningtonhe got on the podium, garnering the praises ofwinner Kenan Sofuoglu. It won’t be easy forRyde to learn the tracks and be race-winning quick but on his Ranieri Med – SC Racing Yamaha he will be doing his best.

FIM Europe Supersport CupThis year there is a separate classwithin the main WorldSSPChampionship, for riders wishingonly to contest the Europeanrounds. This will boost the alreadyburgeoning field by more than 10 bikes, making theseries the healthiest it has been for many seasons.There is a strong blend of experience and youth ondisplay not least from reigning European Junior CupChampion Javier Orellana, who won 5 of the 8rounds last year including his home round here inAragón. LA WIL SPORT European Junior Cup, patrocinada por Honda, es lacompetición de entrada al Motul FIM Superbike World Championship.Abierta a chicos de 14 a 21 años y a chicas de 14 a 23, la European

Junior Cup de 2016 hace que los pilotos compitan con Hondas CBR 650 Fidénticas para todos. El objetivo de la serie es crear una competicióndivertida y asequible que permita a los jóvenes pilotos demostrar su talentoy desarrollar las habilidades necesarias para tener una carrera a nivelmundial. Nacida en 2011 bajo el nombre de European Junio Cup, la competición

empleó ese año motos Kawasaki Ninja 250cc y el ganador fue el australianoMatt Davies. En 2012 la serie de entrada se pasó del verde al naranja, yaque KTM lanzó una versión mejorada de su 690 Duke para las máquinas dela EJC. En esta ocasión el vencedor fue el austríaco Lukas Wimmer. En 2013la serie de un fabricante se disputó a lomos de las Honda CBR 500 R y pasóa llamarse Pata Honda European Junior Cup y el título fue para elneozelandés Jake Lewis. En 2014, y con la misma moto, el español Augusto Fernández se convirtió

en el ganador de la EJC y su compatriota Javier Orellana fue el campeón delaño pasado a lomos de una CBR 650 F de Honda más potente. En 2015 lapiloto neozelandesa Avalon Biddle se convirtió en la primera campeona dela FIM "Women's European Cup". WorldSBK

THE WIL SPORT European Junior Cup, powered by Honda, is theentry-level class to the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship.Open to 14 to 21-year-old male racers and 14 to 23-year-old

females, the 2016 European Junior Cup sees the racers competing onidentically prepared Honda CBR 650 F machinery. The series’ goal is toprovide a fun and affordable competition which allows the young riders toshowcase their talent and develop the skills necessary for a career at World Championship level. Starting in 2011 under the name of European Junior Cup, the competition

was held that year with all-Kawasaki Ninja 250cc bikes and the winner wasMatt Davies of Australia. In 2012 the entry level to the production-basedseries changed from green to orange, as KTM released a pumped-upversion of its 690 Duke for the EJC machines and Austrian Lukas Wimmerwon this edition. In 2013 the one-make series jumped onboard the HondaCBR 500 R and got the name of Pata Honda European Junior Cup, whenNew Zealand’s Jake Lewis finished the season on top of the standings. On the same bike in 2014 Spaniard Augusto Fernandez became the EJC
