Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time XVIII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario A jar of honey lasts practically forever. The oldest jar of honey ever discovered was over ive thousand years old. Honey is quite different from market-fresh produce, then; because most fruits and vegetables last only a few days, we treat them carefully. At this time of summer, we rush to ind recipes for cherries and cucumbers so we won’t waste a single one. We wouldn’t feel that same urgency about honey. In our own way, we are as delightful and fragile as ripe produce. Today’s readings urge us not to spoil, but to make good use of our limited time on earth. Ecclesiastes re-minds us that because God provides for us now and always, we can manage our daily affairs without anxiety. Saint Paul encourages the Colossians to keep thoughts of heaven in eve-rything they do, and Jesus himself asks us to treasure not earthly wealth, but God alone

Un frasco con miel practicamente dura por siempre. El frasco de mas antiguo descubierto tenıa casi mas de cinco mil anos de anti-guedad. La miel es muy diferente de cualquier otro alimento produ-cido; entonces porque muchas frutas y vegetales solo duran unos pocos dıas si las cuidamos. En este tiempo del verano, nos apresura-mos a encontrar recetas para cerezas y pepinos para no desperdi-ciar ni uno solo. Pero no tendrıamos la misma prisa para la miel. En nuestra propia manera, somos como una de esas frutas y vegetales fragiles y maduros. Las lecturas de hoy nos sugieren a no echarnos a perder, sino a hacer un buen uso de nuestros limitado tiempo en la tierra. El libro del Eclesiastes nos recuerda que ya que Dios provee para nosotros ahora y siempre, podemos administrar nuestros asuntos diarios sin ninguna ansiedad. The Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

August 6 How are we to understand the Trans iguration? The story of the Trans iguration is also proclaimed on the second Sunday of Lent—a key part of Jesus’ journey towards the Cross. The Catechism of the Catholic Church draws parallels between Jesus’ Baptism and the Trans iguration. Jesus is baptized at the start of his public ministry. His baptism proclaims the mystery of our irst regeneration—we die and rise again with Christ. The “Trans iguration ‘is the sacrament of the second regeneration’: our own Resurrection (St. Thomas Aquinas, STh III, 45, 4, ad 2). From now on we share in the Lord’s Resurrection through the Spirit who acts in the sacra-ments of the Body of Christ. The Trans iguration gives us a foretaste of Christ’s glorious coming, when he ‘will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body (Phil 3:21)’” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 556). During the Prayer after Communion, we pray that God might “transform us into the likeness of your [his] Son, / whose radiant splendor you willed to make manifest / in his glori-ous Trans iguration.” The Collect, or opening prayer, tells us that the mystery of the Trans iguration “pre igures our full adoption to sonship.” The Trans iguration, initially revealed to Peter, James, and John, reveals to all of us a taste of what is yet to come. Apóstoles Eucarísticos de la Divina Misericordia Los Apostoles Eucarısticos de la Divina Mise-ricordia (AEDM) es un Apostolado Catolico que pertenece a la Congregacion de los Maria-nos de la Inmaculada Concepcion de la Santı-sima Virgen Marıa. El enfoque de este cenacu-lo de oracion es el desarrollo espiritual de las personas, ası como el estudio y esplendor de nuestra fe para conocer mejor a Jesus. PROPER SUMMER (HOT WEATHER) ATTIRE The hot weather months are here and the coming months might be characterized as “casual”. How-ever, we respectfully ask that ALL parishioners make an effort to dress appropriately for Sunday Eucharist. Shorts, cut-off jeans, tank tops, athletic shirts and short skirts are very inappropriate in the House of God. Our respect for the Lord and the other members of Christ’s body demands that we dress appropriately. Does what I am wearing show respect for where I am going to and tell everyone how I feel about this sacred action?
