PERU: MINING & ENERGY STATISTICAL REPORT

FIRST SEMESTER 2008

Page 2: Reporte Estadístico Mineroenergético 1er Semestre 2008/Inglés - Fecha de publicación: Noviembre 2008

The mining, hydrocarbons and electrical sector play a transcendental roll in the

economic growth and social development of Peru; under this context the Sociedad

Nacional de Minería, Petróleo y Energía (SNMPE) has elaborated the “PERU: Mining

& Energy Statistical Report”, which contains the official information of the perfor-

mance obtained by these productive activities during the first semester of 2008.

The “PERU: Mining & Energy Statistical Report” describes the evolution of each

sector: mining, whose effort is reflected in a better mineral production; hydrocar-

bons, where it emphasizes the major level of natural gas production, as well as the

increase of the exploratory activity; and electrical, that works intensely to assume

the challenges that sustained the growth of the country.

The SNMPE gives this new edition of PERU: Mining & Energy Statistical Report, with

the intention that the public opinion knows the development of the Mining &

Energy sector and its real contribution with the present and future of Peru.
