BASKETBALL MAKES YOU TALLER

This statement is simply untrue. A person’s physical characteristics arewhat make him/her suitable for a sport. Elite sports people go througha hard and long selection process that separates those who have theright qualities and body fitness for a particular discipline from those whodon’t. However, it is the tallest people that have the most possibilities tostart a successful career, even if there are some exceptions to the rule,like “little” Tony Parker.

DOING SPORTS STOPS YOU FROM GROWING

Nothing proves scientifically that doing sports prevents you from developingphysically, except for, perhaps, intensive practice of gymnastics. If doctorsrecommend teenagers not to compete before the end of their growingperiod, it’s because they want to protect their bones, which are still notsufficiently strong to do such a demanding sport.
