Cloth stretching : Stretch a piece of white cloth tightly using a wooden or

metal frame to avoid damage and uneven absorption of colour in the next

process.

Preliminary sketch : Outline the desired pattern on the cloth with a pencil

or charcoal. If you dont outline your design, you may make a mistake in

the third step and cannot erase it.

Canting (Designing) : Fill the canting with molten wax and hold it at an

angle against the cloth to trace the outlines of the pattern. The wax is

used to prevent dye from spreading to the entire cloth.

Colouring : When the wax outline is done, the cloth is ready to be dyed. Mixremazol dye with cold water in a bowl. You can choose many colours as you like

using a good quality paint brush to paint the dyes within the outlines.

Drying : After colouring, the cloth is left to dry for about half an hour by

raising the pemidang to the top.

Colour-fixing : When the dye is dry, the cloth is soaked in a sodium silicate

solution to preserve its colours. Squeeze the cloth and set it aside for four

to eight hours.

Washing and boiling : Rinse the cloth to remove sodium silicate residues.

Then, boil the cloth in hot water mixed with cleaning soda to remove excesswax.

Drying and ironing : The batik is then hung to dry under natural conditions.

Iron the batik when dry.

CONCLUSION

As the conclusion, ABAS & SAL BATIK is a well-

established firm since it has been operated for

more than 20 years. However, people still notaware with the existence of the firm. ABAS &

SAL BATIK need to take action in order to

improve their business.
