L. S. Raheja College of Arts and Commerce, recognized as LINGUISTIC (GUJARATISPEAKING) MINORITY INSTITUTION, was established by Sadhana Education Society in theyear 1961. L. S. Raheja College of Arts & Commerce (LSRC), popularly known as RahejaCollege, is permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai and is re-accredited withthe ‘A’ Grade in second cycle.

At L. S. Raheja College, we aim at creating performers, winners, achievers andleaders. Sadhana Education Society, the parent body was established in 1961. Since its inception,the society was dedicated to the cause of education. With the mission to spreadeducation in all its aspects and phases, across various sections of the society; to promoteresearch and nurture the Gujarati culture, the society founded its first institute – Smt.Kapila Khandvala College of Education in 1961. Thereafter, it instituted Malti Jayant DalalPrimary School and Malti Jayant Dalal High School in 1968. In 1975, the Society alsoinstituted Malati Jayant Dalal Nursery School and S. B. Kindergarten. And subsequently, topromote the all-round development of students and to facilitate education from K. G. toPhD under one banner, the Society instituted L. S. Raheja College of Arts & Commerce in1980.Summarized on the emblem, ‘प्रज्वलितो, ज्यन्मय ् प्रदीपह्’ the motto of the College quiteliterally means, ‘To shun the darkness of ignorance and spread the light of knowledge’.The founders of the Society had a distinct vision to promote education and foster thescientific and academic temper of the young minds of Mumbai. The vision and mission ofthus formulated.The Sadhana Education Society’s L. S. Raheja College of Arts and Commerce (LSRC) is aLinguistic Gujarati Speaking Minority Institution situated in the heart of Mumbai’ssuburbs. The College also offers several add on courses like Certified Financial Planner, CertificateCourse on Investment, Add-on Course Approved by the University of Mumbai (Online),Certificate Course on Digital Marketing, Soft Skill / English Speaking Course etc.

The College holds 7th & 9th Rank in Commerce & Arts respectively amongst Top 10 collegesin Mumbai (India Today July 2017). LSRC is committed to the overall development andenrichment of students in the field of education and beyond.

The College is housed in a well-planned and well-maintained spacious building amidst ascenic landscape which creates an ambience conducive to the learning process. Thebuilding is well-equipped with large lecture halls, tutorial rooms, library cum-readingroom, gymkhana-cum-boys' common rooms, girl’s common room, canteen, assembly halland a full-fledged computer centre.

The faculty of the college consists of a highly qualified and experienced Principal andmembers of the teaching staff with specialization in their respective fields of either Arts,Commerce or Management Studies. It also has a dedicated band of non-teachingemployees. The College boasts of a Competent Principal, highly qualified members of theteaching staff, a full-time Sports Director, and dedicated band of non-teaching employees.

The Sadhana Education Society pledges to enhance and enrich its educational activitiesand occupy the centre stage in the field of education.

The College aims to impart qualityeducation in the faculties of Artsand Commerce at theundergraduate level and in theFaculty of Commerce up to thePost- graduate level leading toPh.D. Degrees.

DETAILS OF PROGRAMMES OFFERED

The L. S. Raheja Junior College offers XI Standard and XII Standard in Arts and Commercealong with Information Technology as one of the unaided subjects. The Degree Collegeprepares students for courses leading to the degree of Arts and Commerce at theundergraduate level and in the Faculty of Commerce up to the Post-Graduate levelleading to M.Com (with Specialization in Accountancy / Management / Banking & Finance)and Ph.D. Degrees. It also has unaided programmes like B.M.S. (Bachelor of ManagementStudies), B.Com.(Accounting & Finance), B.Com(Financial Markets), B.Com.(Banking &Insurance), Bachelor of Science (Information Technology), B.M.M. (Bachelor of MassMedia) now it is B.A. in Multimedia and Mass Communication (B.A.M.M.C.) affiliated tothe University of Mumbai. ADMISSION TO STUDENTS

UNDER GUJARATI LINGUISTIC MINORITY

Students Applying Under Linguistic Minority (Gujarati) must Satisfy The followingnorms:1. SHOULD BE GUJARATI BY BIRTH AND SHOULD HAVE PASSED THE H.S.C. /

EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION.2. In case the student is not GUJARATI by birth but the mother of the applicant

is Gujarati, the marriage certificate of the parent-indicating mother’s namemust be produced for verification.

3. In case of doubtful surnames, the parent will have to produce their 10th Std.mark sheet indicating Gujarati as one of the subject at the 10th Std ORCertificate from the Head of the Community / Trust / Institution (Governmentrecognized) confirming the claim.

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three year integrated course leadingto the degree of Bachelor of Arts must have passed the Higher Secondary SchoolCertificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Boards of theMaharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher.

Secondary Education with the following subjects :-1. English2. Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages or any

classical Language or Information Technology3. Any four subjects carrying 100 marks each.

ORMust have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std XII) examination withvocational subject conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra StateBoard of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with the following subjects:-

1. English2. Any one vocational subject carrying 200 marks prescribed by the Board from

time to time.3. Any three subjects carrying 100 marks each.

ORMust have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination with theMinimum Competency based vocational courses conducted by the different DivisionalBoards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Educationwith the following subjects:-

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.M.S. degree programme shall havepassed HSC Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Educationor its equivalent examination or Diploma course in any Engineering Branches with twoyears or three years after SSC conducted by the Board of Technical Examination or itsequivalent examination in one and the same sitting.Every candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the Constituent /affiliated college /recognized institution conducting the course shall have to register himself / herself withthe University.

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology(B.Sc.IT) [O.5051]Ref. UG/283 of 2007 dated 16/06/2007 and amended circular ref. no UG/67 of 2016-17 dated 2/9/2016

(A) A Candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree programme in B.Sc.IT shallhave passed XII Std. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher SecondaryEducation or its equivalent examination in one and the same sitting. Every candidateadmitted to the degree course in the constituent/affiliated college/recognized institutionconducting the courses shall have to register himself/herself with the University.

(B) Candidate who have passed Diploma (Three years after S.S.C. (X std) in Informationtechnology/Computer technology /Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical,Electronics and Video Engineering and Allied Branches/Mechanical and Allied Branches/Civil and Allied branches /Mechanical and Allied Branches/Civil and Allied branches of areeligible for direct admission to the Second Year of the B.Sc.(I.T.) degree course.

However, the Diploma should be recognized by the Board of Technical Education or anyother recognized Government Body. Minimum marks required 45% aggregate for opencategory candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category candidates.

ORCandidate with post HSC-Diploma in Information Technology / Computer technology /Computer Engineering/Computer Science/and Allied branches will be eligible for directadmission to the Second Year of B.Sc.(I.T.). However, the Diploma should be recognized bythe Board of Technical Education or any other recognized Government Body. Minimummarks required 45% aggregate for open category candidates and 40% aggregate forreserved category candidates.

Admission will be on merit, based on the order of preference as follows:Marks in Mathematics and Statistics at H.S.C. or equivalent examination. Aggregate Marksat HSC (Std. XII) or equivalent aggregate marks at S.S.C. (Std. X).

A Candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree programme in B.A. inMultimedia and Mass Communication shall have passed XII Standard Examination of theMaharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent. Every candidateadmitted to the degree programme in the constituent / Affiliated College/ recognizedinstitution conducting the programme, shall have to register himself/herself with theUniversity.

No college shall conduct any entrance test in any form and the admissions are purelybased on merit duly following the reservation policy as per the norms of Government ofMaharashtra. While drawing the merit list, weightage has to be given to students fromArts, Commerce and Science Stream at 12th Standard level.

1. There shall be one examination at the end of each semester in all the courses exceptFoundation Course in semester I to IV. The performance of the learner will be evaluatedin each course in the following manner.

PROCEDURE AND PUNISHMENTS TO DEAL WITH USE OF UNFAIR MEANS

Students resorting to the use of unfair means during the examinations conducted by theCollege on behalf of the University or by the University are requested to note that theminimum punishment recommended by the University (vide circular no. UG / 139 OF 2001Dated 23rd APRIL 2001) is “Annulment of the performance of the Student at the University /College / Institution Examination in full”. The above action is recommended in case thestudent is found in possession of the copying material. If it is established that he/she hasactually copied from the material, the recommendation is “Exclusion of the student from theUniversity or College or Institution Examination for one additional examination”. The abovereferred circular is available with the Examination Committee for your reference.

PROCEDURE AND PUNISHMENTS TO DEAL WITH USE OF UNFAIR MEANS

Students resorting to the use of unfair means during the examinations conducted by theCollege on behalf of the University or by the University are requested to note that theminimum punishment recommended by the University (vide circular no. UG / 139 OF 2001DATED 23RD APRIL 2001) is “Annulment of the performance of the Student at the University /College / Institution Examination in full”. The above action is recommended in case thestudent is found in possession of the copying material. If it is established that he/she hasactually copied from the material, the recommendation is “Exclusion of the student from theUniversity or College or Institution Examination for one additional examination”. The abovereferred circular is available with the Examination Committee for your reference.

OBJECTIVES

Management education is different today because of the requirement of soft skills,teamwork and collaborations. As the economy continues to flourish, the cost consciouscompanies morph their HR strategies, becoming even more choosey in every dimension.This sets a platform for young entrepreneurs.

The University of Mumbai started the Bachelor in Management Studies (B.M.S.)programme in 1999-2000. The programme intends to cater to the growing needs ofcorporate India and also leads to the all-round development of their personality.

The BMS programme provides comprehensive training to students in the field ofManagement, Accounting & Finance by way of interaction, projects, presentations,industrial visits, practical training, job orientation and placements.

Information regarding Additional Examination

A candidate who does not appear i.e. remains absent in some or all the courses on medicalgrounds or for representing the College / University in sports, cultural activities, activities of NSS,NCC or sports training camps conducted by recognized bodies / competent authorities or for anyother reason which is considered valid under exceptional circumstances and to the satisfactionof the Principal or the Head of the Institute OR fails in some or all the courses is eligible toappear for the additional examination. A candidate who does not appear for both the InternalAssessment and Semester End Examination shall not be eligible to appear for the additionalSemester End Examination. The additional Semester End Examination shall be of two and a halfhour duration and of 75 marks per course. The learner shall appear for the Semester EndExamination of the course for which he/she was absent or has failed. Learners who are punishedunder O.5050 shall not be eligible to appear for this additional examination.

A candidate who does not appear i.e. remains absent in some or all the courses on medicalgrounds or for representing the College / University in sports, cultural activities, activities of NSS,NCC or sports training camps conducted by recognized bodies / competent authorities or for anyother reason which is considered valid under exceptional circumstances and to the satisfactionof the Principal or the Head of the Institute OR fails in some or all the courses is eligible toappear for the additional examination. A candidate who does not appear for both the InternalAssessment and Semester End Examination shall not be eligible to appear for the additionalSemester End Examination. The additional Semester End Examination shall be of two and a halfhour duration and of 75 marks per course. UG / 139 OF 2001DATED 23RD APRIL 2001) is “Annulment of the performance of the Student at the University /College / Institution Examination in full”. The above action is recommended in case thestudent is found in possession of the copying material. OBJECTIVES

Department of B.Sc.IT of L. S. Raheja College of Arts and Commerce has a goodcombination of learning integrated with technology to increase the enthusiasm ofstudents towards learning and to encourage them to be active thinkers. We encourageour students to actively undertake activities that facilitate their inclusive progress andexpose them to the practical know-how of IT field.

• The University of Mumbai started the Bachelor in Science in Information Technology(BSc.IT) programme in 2001. The programme to cater to the growing needs ofcorporate India also leads to the all-round development of software, design andresearch and development(R&D).

• The B.Sc.-IT at University of Mumbai and its affiliated colleges aims to synergiesInformation Technology in all its ramifications.

• To meet this objective the program is designed to provide basic inputs in variousaspects of and a broad understanding of IT and its other interdisciplinary interfaces.

• The focus of the program is “Information Technology and management of informationtechnology.”

• A look at successful businesses today reveals one strategic strand common to all theyhave evolved to become information enabled businesses. Smart businesses areturning to technology to guarantee them the extra edge needed to stay ahead of thepack. Information Technology’s role is fast emerging as a driver rather than an enablerof business. It is used from simple office automation to decision support, re-engineering and organization transformation .A new genre of managers who willharness the awesome capabilities of Information Technology, is required to tap thefull potential of this tool. There is a pressing need for a program that can bridge thegap between managerial practices in Vogue and Information Technology so thatbusiness can be effectively managed.

I. FOR SEM I & II

a. A learner shall be allowed to keep term for Semester II irrespective of grades obtained in each

course of Semester I.

II. FOR SEM III

a. A learner shall be allowed to keep term for Semester III if he/she passes (grade ‘E’ or above in

each course) each of Semester I and Semester II

OR

b. A leaner fails in not more than three courses with not more than total 200 marks, in each of

Semester I and Semester II. (For all Science Programmes, carrying less than total 900 marks.)

III. FOR SEM IV

a. A learner shall be allowed to keep term for Semester IV irrespective of grades obtained in

Information regarding Additional Examination

A candidate who does not appear i.e. remains absent in some or all the courses onmedical grounds or for representing the College / University in sports, cultural activities,activities of NSS, NCC or sports training camps conducted by recognized bodies /competent authorities or for any other reason which is considered valid under exceptionalcircumstances and to the satisfaction of the Principal or the Head of the Institute OR failsin some or all the courses is eligible to appear for the additional examination. A candidatewho does not appear for both the Internal Assessment and Semester End Examinationshall not be eligible to appear for the additional Semester End Examination. Theadditional Semester End Examination shall be of two and a half hour duration and of 75marks per course. The learner shall appear for the Semester End Examination of thecourse for which he/she was absent or has failed. Learners who are punished underO.5050 shall not be eligible to appear for this additional examination.

PROCEDURE AND PUNISHMENTS TO DEAL WITH USE OF UNFAIR MEANS

Students resorting to the use of unfair means during the examinations conducted by theCollege on behalf of the University or by the University are requested to note that theminimum punishment recommended by the University (vide circular no. OBJECTIVES

• Media education has responded to the changing needs of the society by upgrading itscontent. The BA in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BAMMC) curriculum isdesigned to provide an adequate theoretical and practical foundation for a career inMedia and Communication.

• We at Raheja provide the students with a combination of strategic and tacticalknowledge of communication and also prepare them for leadership and managerialskills.

i. The course shall be a full-time course. The duration of the course shall be sixsemesters spread over three years.

ii. Intake Capacity – 60 Studentsiii. The Course shall consist of 36 Theory Courses and 1 Project work.iv. Total number of lectures per course per semester will be maximum 48, and duration

ELIGIBILITY

A learner for being eligible for admission to the Post Graduate Programme i.e.Master of Commerce, shall have passed the examination for the degree of Bachelor ofCommerce (three years/Six Semester integrated course) or the degree B.Com. (OldCourse) or the other Semester based Programmes i.e. Bachelor of Commerce (Banking& Insurance) or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) or Bachelor ofCommerce (Financial Markets) or Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S.) of thisUniversity, or an examination of any other University recognized as equivalentthereto.Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the constituent /affiliated college /recognized institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself withthe University.

STANDARDS OF PASSING

The learner to pass a course shall have to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in aggregatefor each course where the course consists of Internal Assessment & Semester EndExamination. The learner shall obtain a minimum of 40% marks (i.e. 16 out of 40) in theInternal Assessment and 40% marks in Semester End Examination (i.e. 24 out of 60)separately, to pass the course and minimum of Grade E in the project component,wherever applicable to pass a particular semester. A learner will be said to have passedthe course if the learner passes the Internal Assessment & Semester End Examinationtogether.

COURSE DURATION

The duration of the M. Com. Programme shall be of two years consisting of Four (04)Semesters. The examination for the Master of Commerce programme will be held atthe end of every semester viz. Semester I, Semester II, Semester III and Semester IV. TheExaminations for Semester I will be held in the Second half of the academic year inwhich the learner was admitted (i.e. October / November), Semester IIexaminations will be held in the First half of the Academic year (April /May), SemesterIII examination will be held in the Second half of the Academic year (October /November) and Semester IV End in the first half of the Academic year (April/May).

PROCEDURE AND PUNISHMENTS TO DEAL WITH USE OF UNFAIR MEANS

Students resorting to the use of unfair means during the examinations conducted by the College onbehalf of the University or by the University are requested to note that the minimum punishmentrecommended by the University (vide circular no. UG / 139 OF 2001 DATED 23RD APRIL 2001) is“Annulment of the performance of the Student at the University / College / Institution Examinationin full”. The above action is recommended in case the student is found in possession of the copyingmaterial. If it is established that he/she has actually copied from the material, the recommendationis “Exclusion of the student from the University or College or Institution Examination for oneadditional examination”. The above referred circular is available with the Examination Committee foryour reference.

Copy of the circular is available on the college website www.lsraheja.org and also Chairperson of theExamination Committee and Chairperson of the Unfair Means Inquiry Committee.

Research is one of the important areas which are always emphasized by the managementof the College who encourage faculty to acquire research degrees. Research InnovationCell and Research Cell of the College provides guidance to faculty and students to publishquality research papers.

L. S. Raheja College of Arts & Commerce is a recognized research centre in the subject ofCommerce (Business Policy and Administration) since 2018-2019. The centre is recognizedby the University of Mumbai. The centre is committed to providing quality researchpractices and training to research students. The college is well-equipped with researchfacilities like Research room, e-resources in the library INFLIBNET N-LIST and ResearchMethodology books.

Dr. Anupama Nerurkar is a recognized guide having five students enrolled and registeredto pursue research in Commerce.

The minimum qualification for the admission for Ph.D. is post-graduation degree in thesubject of Commerce with minimum 55%, and clearing PET examination or M. Phil,NET/SLET and minimum 5 years teaching experience. Aspiring student/s has to submit aresearch proposal and appear before an interview panel. During the research, the studenthas to complete a research course work if not M. Phil and appear before the ResearchAdvisory Committee, publish research papers and submit a half yearly report.

1. The College attaches great importance to discipline which must be scrupulously observedby all students. Failure to comply with any of the rules and regulations from time to timewill lead to strict disciplinary action.

2. Students must always keep with them the Identity Card issued by the College with theirrecent photograph affixed, bearing the signature of the Principal and they must present itfor inspection or verification whenever demanded by the college Authorities and/or by theSecurity Staff. No student shall be allowed to attend lectures, practical, etc. unless he/shewears Identity Card around the neck.

3. Students must not attend lectures other than their own without the consent of thePrincipal.

4. Students should make use of the College library.5. Students must be in their respective classrooms in time. Latecomers may not be allowed.6. Students must do nothing either inside or outside the College that will in any way interfere

with its orderly administration and discipline. They should not communicate anyinformation or write anything about the College to the Press or post any information on anywebsite / YouTube / Facebook etc. without the prior written permission of the Principal.

7. Students are liable to lose their terms for disobedience, misconduct, misbehaviour,indiscipline.

8. Students must take proper care of College property. Any damage is done to the property ofthe College by way of disfiguring walls, doors, windows, and fittings or breaking furniture,etc. will be treated as a breach of discipline and the students concerned will be punished,fined and/or suspended. Smoking, Tobacco-Chewing, Consumption of Drugs, etc. arestrictly prohibited in the College premises.

9. Use of Mobile phones, walkman, etc. at the College Premises is prohibited.10. No student shall collect money as a contribution for a picnic, trip, educational visit, get-

together, study notes, charity or for any other activity without prior written permission ofthe Principal.

11. All bonafide students are accountable to the Principal. Their behaviour inside and outsidethe College should not be detrimental to the image of the College and any individual orgroup of students should refrain from all such activities which may bring indecency to theCollege, and such students, if found guilty, may be expelled or suspended from the College.

12. Ragging is prohibited within or outside the College. If any complaint is received the personconcerned will be prosecuted under the Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.

13. Photography or Videography of the campus and classrooms, laboratories, office, etc. isstrictly prohibited.

14. Matters not covered by the existing rules will be at the discretion of the Principal.
