The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ / El Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo 3
My favorite line of the hymn Pange Lingua is “Only be the heart in earnest, faith her lesson quickly learns.” The hymn was written by St. Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century and we have been singing it ever since. He sings of the wonders of the Eucharist and how our God cares for his people through the Body and Blood of Christ. So, in singing my favorite line, it reminds all of us that when we receive Holy Communion ‘in earnest’, our hearts learn faith. As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, today is a great day to examine how our hearts approach our God in Holy Communion and to ask God to increase our faith in us.
This weekend Fr. Steve Correz will begin saying his goodbyes to our parish. You may recall that Bishop Kevin Vann assigned him to Christ our Savior in Santa Ana. I am very grateful to Fr. Steve for his time with us and his help to me in particular. Many of you have expressed that you will miss him as well. Be sure to mention your gratitude to him today or next week. Be sure to also assure him of your prayers – he will need those in abundance as he learns the ropes of his new parish. His last day at Our Lady of Fatima is June 30. Many thanks Fr. Steve!
We continue to make our modifications to our church, office and living spaces to make them more accessible for Fr. Jim Ries, our incoming pastor, and for everyone. Please consider donating toward this project as it will be a very nice gift – and warm welcome – to have these projects done and paid for by July 1. Many thanks to those of you have al-ready donated!
Mis palabras favoritas del himno Pange Lingua son “Solo la fe verdadera es suficiente para fortalecer el corazón.” El himno fue escrito por Santo Tomás de Aquino en el siglo 13 y hemos estado cantándolo desde entonces. Él canta de las maravillas de la Eucaristía y de cómo nuestro Dios cuida a su pueblo por el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Pues, mi línea favorita nos recuerda que cuando recibimos la Sagrada Comunión con fe, nuestros corazones se fortalecen. Al celebrar la solemnidad del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, hoy es un día excelente para examinar cómo nos acercamos a nuestro Dios en la Sagrada Comunión y pedirle a Dios que aumente nuestra fe y fortalezca nuestro corazón.
Este fin de semana Padre Steve Correz comenzará a despedirse de nuestra parroquia. Probablemente usted recuerde que el Obispo Kevin Vann le asignó a la iglesia de Cristo Nuestro Salvador en Santa Ana. Estoy muy agradecido del Padre Steve por su tiempo con nosotros y su ayuda conmigo en particular. Muchas personas han expresado que lo van a extrañar también. In this meeting we will focus on chapter 3 and the sign of study. It is not necessary to have attended another session. Each meeting is inde-pendent of the other. You are invited to register your chil-dren for our FFC and Sacramental Prep program. You can registers at our parish office from 9am-6pm Monday thru Friday. We’ll be hosting a parent meeting on September 10 at 7pm. At this meeting, you’ll receive a parent handbook, and meet our FFC teachers and volunteers. Classes will begin on September 24. OLF School Has a Guardian Angel!Our prayers have been answered in more ways than we could have imagined! Our Guardian Angel will sweep onto our campus this summer to paint the classrooms and offices, replace the bathroom stalls and water fountains, and revamp our infrastructure to “rock our network” to support our 1:1 technology implementation. Please say a thankful prayer for this anonymous Orange County organiza-tion that has come to our rescue.
Along with these many improvements, work on the school roof will begin on June 13. We are thankful to the Diocese of Orange for helping us move forward with this much needed project.
School begins on September 2nd.Summer blessings to all the parishioners that support OLF School throughout the year. You are all angels sent from Heaven.
Weekly Falcon Fun Summer Camp!JULY 7—AUGUST 22 / 8AM - 4PM, MONDAY - FRIDAYOpen to all children entering kindergarten through 8th grade. Posi-tive reinforcement from caring adults, the thrill of summer activities, the sharing of adventures with a group of friends, and the chance to participate in summer fun activities are many of the reasons for sending your child to OLF’s summer camp program. Each camp day is planned to compliment the theme of the week and may include science, crafts, games, technology and light academics. Weekly field trips are also planned.
