Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
The second reading from the letter to the Hebrews insists that “the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-
edged sword… able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” In the first reading from Wisdom, Solomon humbly admits
that God is the source of his gifts. He declares that he prefers wisdom to power and wealth. Wisdom is a gift from God which
promises a rich life, but the Gospel never equates that with material wealth.
“How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God”, Jesus says of the young man, unable to follow Him,
because he was enslaved to his possessions. Similar with the difficulties caused by competition for prestige, for those who wish
to be His disciples.
It is helpful for us to consider what we seek most in our life and why we choose to be
His followers or to be in His company. Christ invites us, for Him, to take all who we are
and what we have and transform us. We are free to stay on His road or to go our own
way.

sabiduría al poder y la riqueza. La sabiduría es un don de Dios que promete una vida rica, pero el Evangelio nunca la equivale
con la riqueza material.
"Qué difícil es para los que tienen riqueza entrar en el reino de Dios", dice Jesús del joven, incapaz de seguirlo, porque estaba
esclavizado a sus posesiones. Similar a las dificultades causadas por la competencia por el prestigio, para aquellos que desean
ser Sus discípulos.
Es útil para nosotros considerar lo que más buscamos en nuestra vida y por qué elegimos ser Sus seguidores o estar en Su com-
pañía. Cristo nos invita, para Él, a tomar todo lo que somos y lo que tenemos y transformarnos. Somos libres de permanecer en
Su camino o de seguir nuestro propio camino.

To the young adult members of our parish’s “Renovación Juvenil” who again distributed food to
some of the homeless and street people living under the bridges and around the city of Dallas. This time they did it in memory and thanks to the example set
by Andres Perez, who was a member of their group. Andrés’
parents and younger brother Mauricio participated as well.

Gracias a los y las jóvenes adultos del grupo parroquial “Renovación Juvenil” que distribuyeron de nuevo comida a los pobres viviendo bajo las puentes

Walking With Moms in Need
Heartbeat Act Makes Walking with Moms in Need Program Even More Essential
Walking with Moms in Need is a nationwide USCCB pro-gram for Catholic parishes and communities to "walk in the shoes" of local pregnant and parenting women in need. Eve-ryone should know how to help moms in difficult circum-stances and this program will ensure that each of us can. "Serving as the Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Dal-las, the Catholic Pro-Life Community is thrilled to be working with parishes across the diocese to help in any way we can to ensure moms and families in need can be served through any parish community," said CPLC Executive Director Geralyn Kaminsky. It is especially important with the en-actment of the Texas Heartbeat Act that we are ready and positioned to support and assist vulnerable
moms.”
