April 5, 2020, Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Because of this, God greatly exalted himand bestowed on him the name which is above every name. Philippians 2:8-9

Matthew 21:1-11: As Jesus entered Jerusalem the crowds kept crying “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is the he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest.” Philippians 2:6-11: Jesus being God humbled himself became obedient to the point of death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Matthew 26:14-27: We see Jesus entering into Jerusalem and everyone exalting him. And right after we see how Jesus was betrayed and humiliated as he dies on the Cross for us. The Son of God, who came into the world to free the poor and the suffering, decides to be the Good Shepherd and becomes the sacrificial lamb for you and for me; for our salvation and for us to have everlasting life through Him.

El Hijo de Dios, quien vino al mundo para liberar a los pobres y a los que sufren, decide ser el Buen Pastor y se convierte en el cordero del sacrificio por usted y para mí; para nuestra salvación y para que tengamos vida eterna a través de Él.

Mensaje de parte de Padre Thomas Rush, OMI, PárrocoEstimados miembros de la parroquia de Santa Rosa,Este domingo es Domingo de Ramos en nuestras celebraciones litúrgicas. Recordamos la entrada triunfal del Señor Jesucristo a Jerusalén antes de su pasión y muerte. Fue recibido como rey por la gente. Recordamos también que Cristo, por su parte, había dicho: “él sabía lo que había en los corazones de los humanos”.Parece que Jesús se estaba refiriendo a la falta de consistencia en las per-sonas, especialmente en la práctica de su fe, en su tendencia a profesar una cosa y hacer algo diferente y buscar las faltas de los demás mientras ignoran sus propias fallas.En el tiempo que vivimos ahora, cuando las realidades del Coronavirus nos amenazan con tanta fuerza, hay algo más que podríamos notar. Es la falta de poder reunirnos en nuestra iglesia para celebrar los misterios centrales de nuestra fe, los acontecimientos de la vida de Jesús, su muerte y resur-rección que son de gran importancia para sentirnos conectados con él y con Dios su padre.En esta Semana Santa no podremos unirnos para celebrar lo que es más importante en nuestra fe en Jesús.Esto significa que cuando no podamos reunirnos en nuestras celebraciones comunitarias, cada uno de nosotros, o posiblemente en grupos muy peque-ños; como nuestras familias, tendremos que encontrar formas de expresar algo que tenga la posibilidad de alimentar y apoyar nuestra fe católica y cristiana.Habrá oportunidades para utilizar los medios de comunicación, como In-ternet, para ayudarnos. Pero esto depondrá más que nunca en nuestra iniciativa personal. Implicará que busquemos en Internet o televisión algo que nos pueda conectar en la celebración de nuestra fe. Habrá transmisión en vivo que estamos ofreciendo desde nuestra parroquia y desde otras par-roquias. También habrá programas de televisión y transmisión en vivo que provienen de nuestro arzobispo, del Vaticano y de otras entidades. También puede haber actividades que las familias puedan idear y que se unirán para ayudar a todos a sentirse conectados con los misterios de nuestra fe que estamos celebrando en este momento: alguna oración que se reza juntos o hacer alguna acción que les ayude a sentirse conectados con los misterios de nuestra fe y les recuerden lo que estamos celebrando.Es importante que en el clima actual que estamos viviendo, nos reconoz-camos y ayudemos mutuamente a reconocer juntos que Dios no nos ha abandonado y que en medio de la tristeza y la pérdida que podemos sentir debido a las cosas que ahora nos causan dolor e incertidumbre podemos descubrir que Dios trabaja entre nosotros y nos ayuda a ayudarnos unos a otros.Sinceramente tuyo en Cristo y María Inmaculada,Padre Thomas Rush, OMI, Párroco

Thomas Rush, OMI PastorDear Members of Santa Rosa Parish,This Sunday is Palm Sunday in our liturgical celebrations.It’s when we remember the triumphant entry of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem before his passion and death. He was received as a king by the people. We remember also that Christ, on his part, had said: “he knew what was in the hearts of humans.” It seems that Jesus was referring to the lack of consistency in people, espe-cially in the practice of their faith, in their tendency to profess one thing and do something different and look for the faults of others while ignoring their own failings.In the time we are living now – when the realities of the Coronavirus are threatening us so forcefully – there’s something else that we might note as missing. It is the restrictions on our ability to come together in our church to celebrate the central mysteries of our faith – the events in the life of Jesus, his death and resurrection that are of such great importance for us to feel connected with him and with God his Father.In this Holy Week we will not be able to join together to celebrate what is most important in our faith in Jesus.This means that when we cannot gather in our community celebrations, each one of us – or possibly in very small groups such as our families – will have to find ways to express something that has the possibility of nourishing and supporting our Catholic Christian faith.There will be opportunities to use communications media, like the internet, to help us. This will have to be something that more than ever will depend on our own personal initiative. It will involve us looking on the internet or television for something that can connect us in the celebration of our faith. There will be the live streaming that we are offering from our parish, and from other parishes. There will also be television programs and live stream-ing that come from our archbishop, from the Vatican and from other enti-ties. There may also be activities that families can come up with that will join together in doing to help all feel connected to the mysteries of our faith that we are celebrating at this time: some prayer that is prayed together or action that is done together or symbol that can be visible for all in the family to see that can bring all to remember what we are celebrating.It is important that in the present climate we are living through we recognize and help each other to recognize together that God has not abandoned us and that in the midst of the sadness and loss that we may feel because of the things that now cause us pain and uncertainty we may be able to dis-cover God working among us and helping us to help one another.
