“Son Las” Hora Aprender

• It is (12:31 – 1:30)= Es la• It is (any other time)= son las• “Es” is a singular form of “the” and One is the only singular

number, every other number is plural so we use “son las” because that is the plural form of “the”

• Example: Son Las Tres y uno (it is 3:01)

• Example#2: Es La Una y Veinte (it is 1:20)

• If it is anytime between _:00 and _:30 you say “ Y “

• If it is anytime between _:59 and _:31 you say “menos”

MENOS Y

• In time, we say “half after” or “quarter after”

• Well, in Spanish we say “media” for half, and “cuarto” for quarter and we say “en punto” for on-the-dot.

• Noon/Midday=medio día• Midnight=media noche• A.m.=de la mañana• P.m.= (before 7:00) de la tarde• P.m.= (after 7:00) de la noche
