Cofundador y director ejecutivo de Cinema Tropical, el principal proveedor de cine la-tinoamericano en los Estados Unidos. Ha presentado ciclos de cine en diferentes ins-tituciones culturales de Nueva York, entre ellas el Museo de Arte Moderno, el Museo Guggenheim, la BAMcinématek y el IFC Center. Editor conjunto de BOMB Magazine, se ha desempeñado como jurado y miem-bro de los comités de selección de festivales como los de Morelia, Santiago de Chile, los Hamptons y Las Américas (Austin).

Su documental Trópico de cáncer, tesis de titulación en el Centro de Capacitación Ci-nematográfica, recibió numerosos reconoci-mientos internacionales y participó en los festivales de Cannes, Rótterdam y Sundan-ce. Como cinefotógrafo ha trabajado junto a directores como Gregorio Rocha, Hubert Sauper y Tuffic Maklouf. En 2008, con su productora Tecolote Films y el Fondo Hu-bert Bals, dirigió, fotografió y editó el acla-mado documental Los herederos, estrenado en el Festival de Venecia.

Estudió cine y televisión, además de gestión artística, en la Universidad de Utrecht. En 2004 se incorporó al Departamento de Pro-gramación y Transporte de Filmes del Fes-tival Internacional de Cine de Rótterdam. Desde 2007 coordina el Fondo Hubert Bals, dedicado al apoyo de propuestas fílmicas innovadoras en los países en desarrollo.

Es el coordinador general de DOCTV La-tinoamérica III. Fundó, junto al director Rodrigo Plá, la casa productora Malbicho Cine, con oficinas en Montevideo y enfoca-da al desarrollo y la producción de largo-metrajes de ficción. Su nombre puede verse en los créditos de películas como Orlando Vargas (Juan Pittaluga), El baño del Papa (César Charlone), Agua fría de mar (Paz Fá-brega), Norberto apenas tarde (Daniel Hen-dler) y La demora (Rodrigo Plá).

Su trabajo como guionista la ha hecho mere-cedora de diversos galardones en festivales como los de Cartagena, Santa Cruz (Bolivia) y el Latinoamericano de Nueva York. En 1989 recibió el Ariel al mejor guion por Lola. Ha escrito largometrajes como Danzón, Jar-dín del Edén, Viaje redondo y El principio de la espiral. Su labor docente se ha extendido al libro Reescribir el guion cinematográfico. En 2008 recibió el Reconocimiento al Escritor Cinematográfico.

Crítico y editor de la sección de cine del diario argentino Clarín y editor del blog Micropsia, fue delegado para América Lati-na de los Festivales de Venecia y Zúrich. Es profesor en el Centro de Investigación Cine-matográfica de Buenos Aires. Fue vicepresi-dente de FIPRESCI y continúa presidiendo la rama argentina de esa federación. Coedi-tó, junto a Sergio Wolf y Horacio Bernades, el libro Nuevo Cine Argentino: temas, auto-res y estilos de una renovación (2002).

His documentary Trópico de cáncer, also his graduating thesis at the Centro de Capacita-ción Cinematográfica, received numerous in-ternational acknowledgments and was part of the selection for the Cannes, Rotterdam and Sundance festivals. As a cinematogra-pher he has worked together with directors like Gregorio Rocha, Hubert Bals and Tuffic Maklouf. In 2008 he directed, photographed and edited the acclaimed documentary The Inheritors, through his company Tecolote Films and the Hubert Bals Fund. The film fea-tured in the Venice Festival.

She studied cinema, television and art ma-nagement in the University of Utrecht. In 2004 she joined the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Programme and Film Transport Department. Since 2007, she co-ordinates the Hubert Bals Funds, designed to support remarkable and urgent feature films by innovative and talented filmmakers from developing countries.

He is the general coordinator for DOCTV La-tinoamérica III. Together with director Rodri-go Plá, he founded the production company Malbicho Cine, with offices in Montevideo and with a focus on development and full-length film production. Formada en el ámbito teatral, se desempeña como programadora del Buenos Aires Fes-tival Internacional de Cine Independiente (BAFICI) y es codirectora del Buenos Aires Lab (BAL). Es socia fundadora de Ruda Cine, compañía creada en 2004. Produjo el largo-metraje Abrir puertas y ventanas (2011), de Milagros Mumenthaler. Actualmente es titu-lar de cátedra del Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica de la capital argentina.

She grew up in the theatrical ambience, then worked in the programming for the Buenos Ai-res International Festival for Independent Ci-nema (BAFICI) and is co-director of the Bue-nos Aires Lab (BAL). Since 2004 she is partner and co-founder of Ruda Cine. Bava produced the feature length film Back to Stay (2011) by Milagros Mumenthaler. She is currently a full-time professor at the Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica of Buenos Aires.

Es uno de los directores del Festival Inter-nacional de Cortometraje Vila do Conde, en Portugal. Desde 2005 forma parte de la compañía O Som e a Fúria. Productor de diversos cortos y largometrajes, actualmente trabaja en las películas O gebo e a sombra, de Manoel de Oliveira, y Cartas de guerra, de Ivo Ferreira. En 2007, en el Festival de Ca-nnes, participó en la plataforma Producers on the Move de la European Film Promotion.

En 2010 y 2011 fue parte del comité de selección de la Quincena de Realizadores del Festival de Cannes.

In 2005, together with Lucie Kalmar, he co-founded the production company Mômerade. That same year he directed the short film The Dead Hear not the Bells and edited the film Battle in the Sky by Carlos Reygadas. He has been consulting editor for movies such as Les hommes (Ariane Michel, 2006) and Meteora (Spiros Stathoulopoulos, 2012). In 2010 and 2011 he was part of the selection committee for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes.
