Teaching English has changed tremendously over the past two decades. Teaching methods and teaching materials have been developed to meet the changing needs of students. Through these years, one of the problems that most teachers and students face is that they don’t have enough material to practice the language.
Hands on Activities is a book designed to enable students to have extra practice in a wide variety of activities that allow them to practice English. You can include these activities as part of your lesson, as further practice, or assign them for homework.
Hands on Activities allows them to be exposed to different types of acti-vities that will contribute to the development of skills and competencies.
Hands on Activities is a series of three workbooks for secondary school students aimed at supplement any secondary school course book.
In this Answer Key book, you have answers to all the activities included in the students’ workbooks. You can use different strategies to check the activities like have a whole-class sessions, pair or group work. You can write the answers on the board, ask them to compare with their answers and correct; or you can have a peer correction session with the answers on the board, or you can ask them to correct individually. In this book you also have a Grammar Reference section and bibliography that you can consult any time.
The book is based on the offi cial secondary program and helps students to put their knowledge and skills into practice. It is divided in 5 units. Each unit includes eight lessons with different activities; each one is divided in three sections that can be used in three days.

Learning grammar has been one of the problems for many language learners. The only way students can use the language is if they have enough vocabulary and if they know the structure of the language. Grammar is the basis of the language they are learning. For students to understand grammar, is important to have enough practice through different types of exercises in different contexts.
The grammar exercises in this section will allow students to put into practice the grammar structures they have learned in the unit. In this section students have different types of controlled and freer exercises.
Learning vocabulary is essential in the language classroom because learners will progress in English, if they are able to understand what they hear and read. Vocabulary has to be practiced in different ways for students to learn the new lexis. Learning by doing is one of the best ways for students to learn new words and phrases.
The Vocabulary section allows students to practice vocabulary in different contexts and in different ways. Vocabulary includes exercises that encourage students to practice words in context or in families. It has activities that require the students to categorize the language and also using it through different tasks.

There are also writing exercises that help students to understand the mechanics, and will allow students to practice this skill with different types of texts.
The reading texts in this section allow students to practice different reading strategies like understand specifi c and general information.
There are pronunciation exercises that help students to communicate successfully and accurate. Pronunciation is diffi cult for Spanish speakers because there are many sounds that do not exist in their own language and mastering pronunciation requires a lot of practice. These exercises help students to be aware of the pronunciation and also to practice it in different ways.
The third part of each lesson includes rea-ding, writing, listening and pronunciation activities that enable students to develop different competencies like communication, critical thinking and autonomous learning.
In this section there are listening exercises that help students to develop the skill and understand specifi c and general information.
