Para la estimacin de los datos faltantes de cada estacin se utilizar el mtodo de promedio pesado desarrollado por el National Weather Service. Ya que este es el mtodo ms utilizado en la actualidad y es ms preciso que el de Paulhus y Kohler que se basaron en un promedio aritmtico simple.
ESTACIN DE CERRO PUNTA
En la estacin de Cerro Punta faltan todos los datos del ao 2002. Es por eso que utilizando el mtodo de promedio pesado utilizando la precipitacin de las estaciones adyacentes podemos hallar los datos faltantes de la estacin de Cerro Punta. Las estaciones adyacentes son Bajo Grande, Piedra Candela y Caisan Centro.
Pero como los datos de la estacin de Caisan Centro solo presentan datos hasta 1998, no se pudo utilizar esta estacin por falta de registro del ao 2002 que es lo que se necesitaba.

En la estacin de Caisan Centro los datos de precipitacin faltantes son los meses de noviembre y diciembre de 1998. Utilizando del mtodo de promedio pesado calculamos los datos faltantes de precipitacin en la estacin. Las estaciones adyacentes son Caas Gordas, Santa Cruz, Piedra Canela y Cerro Punta.

c. Verificacin de la consistencia de los datos
Para verificar la consistencia de los datos es necesario realizar un anlisis de doble masa. Con este anlisis se analiza la consistencia de una serie de valores de algn elemento hidrometeorolgico medido en la estacin "X" con base en los datos tomados en otra estacin o grupo de estaciones "Y", situadas en una zona climtica similar y cuya homogeneidad haya sido verificada. Este sistema de homogeneizacin de series se utiliza cuando puede suceder un cambio relativo en la variable observada, medida o registrada en una estaci6n meteorolgica.
El mtodo puede ser aplicado tambin, con mucho xito en la interpolacin para el relleno de datos faltantes y la extrapolacin para extender una serie incompleta al periodo de comparaci6n (normalmente de 30 aos).
