  • A380 TOWING ISSUESTowbarless Tractor

towing of empty dead aircraft should be possibledead aircraft in the meaning of:

no active body gear steeringno hydraulic powerno electric power

But : for towing of heavy A380 the Body Wheel Steering has to be powered

APU (90 KVA) running (with mechanic on board)or GPU running on Towbarless Tractor

  • A380 TOWING ISSUESTowbarless Tractor

Approval from Airbus for Towbarless Towing Vehicle

Airbus asks for same Qualification Processas for other Airbus Aircraft typesVery cost and time consumingFor new tractor, all AI Aircraft types have to be testedAirbus refuses simplified procedure (like Boeing)
