- SOSTENIBILIDAD: Ahorro energético y aprovechamiento delos recursos naturales.

OPTION 01: CURRENT FACADE
- Prefabricated concrete construction: facades 15cm - roof 20cm.
- No extra insulation and low performance windows, with wooden frame and simpleglass.
OPTION 02: IMPROVING INSULATION
- Reduces heat loses.
- With approximately 15cm of glass wool and a high standard window (thermalbreak and insulated glass) decreases thermal loses by 70-90%.
- An intensive HVAC system retrofitting would be required in order to improve theglobal energy consumption.

OPTION 03: IMPROVING INSULATION + DOUBLE SKIN
- Improving insulation at the most exposed surfaces.
- Light improvement of the double skin inner facade.
- Permanently closed double skin, which combined with inner wall, reducesheat transfer.
- Technically simple solution.
OPTION 04: IMPROVING INSULATION + DOUBLE SKIN + PREHEATEDAIR
- Improving insulation at the most exposed surfaces.
- Different strategies for summer (open air chambre promoting airrenovation) and winter (closed air chambre using the preheated air as air
renovation) conditions.
- Mechanical controls would be requiered.

BALANCE
ECONOMIC BENEFITS
- The facades have a huge potencial in thermal loses decrease.
- The main heat loses are due to air renewal.
- The distance between both skins allow maintenance operations and provideenough air volume in order to attempt air renewal strategies.
- As an office building, internal loads are very important.
- Winter solar gains inside both are desired. External skin solar factor has to beoptimized (season balance) in order to allow them.
- With a heating and cooling energy demand reduction (140kwh/m2), the annualglobal energy savings might be 12.000€.
- A productivity increase of 2-16% is estimated with a proper thermal, acoustic andvisual confort.
- Estimating 60 users can revert into 18.000-144.000€/year of savings.
