FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

We begin today the liturgical time of Advent, with four

weeks of penitential preparation. At time we will hear the voice of John in the desert, inviting the conversion and prep-aration for the encounter with the living and Incarnate God, who became man and was born equal to us in everything, except in sin.

Four key words will surround the Advent wreath with 4 can-dles lit one at a time every Sunday: FAITH - LOVE - JOY AND HOPE to culminate with the night of PEACE in CHRISTMAS.

We will have the Christmas Lighting of the tree on Satur-day, December 7th, 2019 beginning with Mass at 7:00 pm and then in the middle of a Christmas musical concert by our choirs in the corner of the Church in front of the Memo-rial Tree for the deceased. We will also walk lighting up candles lamps to start this beautiful December season.

On Sunday 15th, 2019 we will have the visit of Santa Claus in the Bishop Valero Hall. Come with your children and en-joy this evening. I invite you in a very familiar atmosphere to participate in the Christmas Novena from the 16th to the December 24th, 2019 in the Church. Every night we will pray the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Followed by Christ-mas nights with music, manger contest, various sales, raf-fles, artistic talents and grand Bazaar in charge of the Youth group in the Bishop Valero Hall. All are Welcome!

PASTORAL WORDS

At this time of Advent we are called to remain vigi-lant and active in so many needs around us. The birth of Jesus was a source of joy for the poorest, for the shepherds who spent the night in the open. It must also be for the poor of today, for the needy, for our neighbors, for those who have lost their jobs, so that they do not lose hope, so that we do not lose it either. The Lord invites us to look at life with our heads up. He comes to meet us. "Get up, raise your head, your liberation is approaching." He is a God who be-comes a child, who becomes poor, born in a man-ger, with an ox and mule, but near, humble, small ... to make us great.

ATTENTION

On this season, we are grateful that parents who will attend our Church in the Christ-mas festivities and every weekend Mass with their children. Please do not send them alone to the bathroom or leave them unattended around the Church. Remember that they are your greatest treasure. It is your responsibility to protect them.

SECOND COLLECTION

This weekend, November 30th - December 1th, 2019, the second collection is for Maintenance & Repairs.

RED RIBBON SUNDAY

Next Sunday December 1, 2019 the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens as the “Diocese of Immigrants” is called to sup-port our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters throughout the world.

Hang a red ribbon on your Christmas tree, on your home door starting at Christmas sea-son until the feast of the Epiphany, to spread awareness of the global persecution of Christians.

RELIGIOUS RETIREMENT FUND Next weekend, December 7th-8th, 2019, the Second Col-lection is for the Diocesan Collection of The Religious Re-tirement Fund. This worthy cause supports religious sisters and brothers who have served our Church in Brooklyn and Queens in so many different ways.

Advent is the period of time where we prepare ourselves to receive our Savior, Jesus Christ, on Christmas Day. Starts on Sunday December 1th and ends on Tuesday, December 24th, 2019.

Empezamos hoy el tiempo litúrgico del Adviento, con

cuatro semanas de preparación penitencial, donde escucha-remos la voz de Juan en el desierto, invitando a la conver-sión y preparación para el encuentro con el Dios vivo y Encarnado, quien se hace hombre y nace igual a nosotros en todo, menos en el pecado. Cuatro palabras claves rodearan la corona del Adviento con 4 cirios encendidos uno a uno cada domingo: FE – AMOR – ALEGRIA Y ESPERANZA para culminar con la noche de PAZ en la NAVIDAD.

Tendremos la Iluminación Navideña el día Sábado 7 de Diciembre de 2019, iniciando con la Misa a las 7:00 pm y luego en medio de un concierto musical Navideño dirigi-do por nuestros coros y coristas en la esquina del templo al frente del Árbol memorial por los difuntos, caminaremos y nos deleitaremos encendiendo lamparitas o velas en vasos adecuados para iniciar con esta noche de velitas esta linda temporada Decembrina.

El Domingo 15 de diciembre de 2019, tendremos la visita de Santa Claus o Papa Noel en el salón del Obispo Valero para que con nuestros niños vengamos a esta velada y de esta manera les invito en un ambiente muy familiar a parti-cipar de la Novena de Navidad desde el 16 hasta el 24 de Diciembre de 2019 dentro del templo parroquial iniciando cada noche con el Santo Rosario a las 7:00 pm, Novena y luego en el Salón Obispo Valero; noches navideñas con música, concurso de pesebres, ventas varias, rifas, talentos artísticos y gran Bazar a cargo del grupo Juvenil.

PALABRAS PASTORALES

En este tiempo de Adviento estamos llamados a per-manecer vigilantes y activos frente a tantas necesida-des que hay a nuestro alrededor. El nacimiento de Je-sús fue motivo de alegría para los más pobres, para los pastores que pasaban la noche al raso. También lo ha de ser para los pobres de hoy, para los necesitados, para nuestros vecinos, para los que se han quedado sin trabajo, para que no pierdan la espe-ranza, para que no la perdamos nosotros tampoco. El Señor nos invita a mirar la vida con la cabeza alta. Él viene a nuestro encuentro. "Levantaos, alzad la ca-beza, se acerca vuestra liberación". Es todo un Dios que se hace niño, que se hace pobre, naciendo en un pesebre, con buey y mula, pero cercano, humilde, pe-queño… para hacernos grandes.

ATENCIÓN

En esta temporada navideña, se pide a todos los padres de familia que asistirán a las festividades y a la Misa dominical con sus niños, por favor no los envíen solos al Baño ni los dejen des-atendidos en los alrededores de la Parroquia. Ellos son su prioridad, y su responsabilidad es

protegerlos.

DOMINGO DE LA CINTA ROJA El próximo domingo diciembre 1 de 2019 la Diócesis de Brooklyn y Queens como “Diócesis de Inmi-grantes” estamos llamados para apoyar a los hermanos y hermanas cristianos, perseguidos en todo el mundo.

Pueden colocar una cinta roja en su árbol de Navidad o en la Puerta de su casa, durante toda la Navi-dad hasta la Epifanía para hacer conciencia sobre la persecución global al Cristianismo.

Adviento es el tiempo en que nos preparamos para recibir a nuestro Salvador, nuestro Señor Jesucristo, en el día de Navi-dad. Este año comienza el Domingo 1 de Diciembre y ter-mina el Martes 24 de Diciembre de 2019.
