This design started from the spring 2014 Mekema Collection by Gustavo Cadile, an Argentine designer. His design was inspired by his mother. He wanted to reflect her Elegance and tender love.  Belleza The people of Argentina are very fashion conscious. They love toexpress themselves through their clothing. This design started from the

spring 2014 Mekema Collection by Gustavo Cadile, an Argentine

designer. His design was inspired by his mother. He wanted to reflect

her Elegance and tender love. After studying the designs from his

collection, I saw a repetition and harmony in each piece. The use of

sheer fabrics and elegant draping, inspired me to look into the abstract

flow of the fabric itself. When studying how fabric reacts when flowing

through the air, I noticed that it had a lot in common with the people of

Argentina. As the fabric gets caught by a gust of air, it elegantly flows in

a curvilinear shape. At the end of the fabric it bunches together. When

fabric falls to the ground, it elegantly falls into a beautiful mess. This

metaphorically relates to the intimacy and elegance of the people.

This space flows the same way as the fabric. The entrance flows

smoothly into the reception area, which from there flows to thebar/lounge area. The rest of the space is divided up into different

intimate pods, which come from the different shapes studied in flowing

fabric. The private dining spaces are mirrored from the bar/lounge. They

are off in there own space that is easily divided, but yet still open to the

rest of the space when needed. There are single tables with different

number of chairs worked into the flow of the design so small parties are

able to get a private dining feel as well.

Through the flow of the design, the materials chosen and the overall

feel of the space, this will be a restaurant where the Argentine people

are able to spend quality time with their families and friends and not feel

like they are in a room full of people. This experience of warmth and

intimacy is sure to keep the locals coming back for a chance to unwind.

The floor pattern of the space helps to

separate the different spaces. Placing the

black onyx granite floor patterns helps to

identify the main dining areas, as the cream

ceramic tiles outline the traffic flow. The

inspiration for the floor pattern derives from arunway in a fashion show. The main focus is

the runway, while the audience is under dim

lighting and appears black in the background

of the collections on the runway. Arranging

the general dining around the black flooring

and adding dropped ceilings helps to give

them a more intimate feeling.

The focal point of Belleza is

central in the layout of the

space. The drop down

ceiling shape, inspired by

the designs found in

Gustavo Cadile’s collection, adds warmth and intimacy

to the space. The mirrored

floor pattern below

harmonizes the general

dining. Tall back dining

chairs gives the guests a

sense of privacy. The

decorative light fixtures

above the booths play on

the height of the overall

space under the drop down

ceiling. The curved black

glass wall divides the spaceyet it is visually open.

The private enclaves to the right of the

general dining curve with the floor pattern

to make the space coehsive. The curved

walls also add to the intimacy and privacy

in these spaces. The dropped ceilings in

the enclaves highlight the difference in the

spaces and add architecural and visualinterest. The indiviual dining areasallow the

guests to have a small group private dinner

but still be open to the rest of the space.

The black glass divides the individual

spaces allow for visual connection while still

keeping a sense of privacy.

The curvilinear design of the bar reflects the

glass walls, dropped ceilings, and floor pattern

of the rest of the space. The contrast for the

bar area was important in the design. The bar

itself is a contrast from the formality of the

general dining, and private dining.
