E ste es un sofá con detalles de sastrería que le aportan funcionalidad, pero que también apelan a las emociones del usuario a través del color, del contraste de texturas, costuras al bies, ángulos inéditos, formas curvadas,

cojines y un edredón que se integra en el cuerpo del respaldo. Un derroche de imaginación, buen gusto y sensibilidad. En el ejercicio del diseño de mobiliario, la responsabilidad de los au-tores es innovar para mejorar. Y eso es lo que han hecho las co-lombianas Lina Obregón y Carolina Galán a la hora de enfren-tarse al diseño del sofá Thea que han realizado para MDF Italia. Su condición de mujeres ha influido en la toma de decisiones y

en el resultado final ya que han sido precisamente su sensibi-

lidad femenina y su sentido de la practicidad lo que han hecho

valer para dar una vuelta de tuerca al diseño de una tipología

en la que podría parecer que ya no hay nada nuevo que decir. Lo interdisciplinar de su colaboración –Lina ha trabajado desde un enfoque de diseño de objeto y Carolina desde su vertiente de diseñadora de moda– las ha ayudado a “ir más lejos”. Si las formas han sido importantes, el uso imaginativo del tejido re-sultó primordial. Como en la alta costura, su método de trabajo ha sido muy riguroso: calidad, estilo, investigación, artesanía, respeto por la tradición italiana y tejidos de la mejor calidad. n

In the practice of furnishing design, the authors’ responsibility is to innovate to improve. And this is what the Columbian Lina Obregón e Carolina Galán, have done when facing the project of the Thea sofa, which they created for MDF Italia. The fact that they are women has influenced the decision making as well as the final result, in fact it was just their feminine sensibility and their sense of practicality, that they used to make a change in the design of an item, about which, apparently, nothing new could be said. The interdisciplinary collaboration –Lina has been focused on the design of the object and Carolina has worked on the side of fashion design– has helped them “to go beyond”. If the shapes have been important, the imaginative use of the textile was primordial. As in the high couture, the method of work has been extremely rigorous: quality, style, research, artisanship, consideration of Italian tradition and textiles of the best quality. The result is a sofa with sartorial details contributing to its functionality and at the same time making appeal to the emotions of the user through the colour, the contrast of the textures, the bias stitching, new angles, curved shapes, cushions and a quilt that completes the body of the back. Thea is a cornucopia of imagination, good taste e sensibility. “Through textile we found functional and emotional solution”
