The McMaster University Heavy Construction Student Chapter aims to increase student exposure to professional opportunities.

OAKVILLE HOSPITAL SITE VISITThis was an excellent site visit opportunity in collaboration with Mechanical Contractors Association Hamilton: Student Chapter.

L.R. WILSON HALL SITE VISITStudents got the opportunity to tour this on-campus site, as well as meet the project’s architect, project manager and site supervisor.

UNION STATION SITE VISIT

Students got the opportunity to tour this intensive ongoing project in Toronto’s downtown.

LAKE AVENUE SCHOOL ACTIVITY SESSIONCivil and mechanical engineering students engaging with Grade 8 students through science and engineering related activities:

ST. MARY’S HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACHThe Heavy Construction Student Chapter presented for high school Physics students at St. Mary’s C.H.S., discussing

• Civil engineering• Heavy construction industry• McMaster HCSC and ways to get involved• University experience and tips for success

HEAVY CONSTRUCTION INTERNSHIP CERTIFICATESFor students to be eligible for the certificate:

• Minimum 8 months heavy construction work experience• Completion of CIV ENG 3RR3 (or the Management equivalent)

• Completion of CIV ENG 4CM4

MCAA STUDENT COMPETITIONMcMaster HCSC has teamed up with the Mechanical Contractors

Association of Hamilton (MCAH) to compete in the North America-wide student competition hosted by the Mechanical Contractors Association

of America.

McMaster’s “Algonquin Mechanical” placed top 4 out of 24 teams across Canada and the U.S. We will be attending the MCAA National

Convention 2015 in Hawaii in March to present our bid proposal and compete for first place!
