Situada entre la vertiente meridional del macizomontañoso de Sierra Nevada y la costa, la comarcaposee unas condiciones climáticas muy caracterís-ticas, al pasar del frío de la nieve al cálido climamediterráneo en muy pocos kilómetros.
Pintorescos pueblos blancos tendidos en las lade-ras de las montañas dan la bienvenida a esta comar-ca con una singular arquitectura popular de callesempedradas y casas con tinaos heredada, al igualque los cultivos en bancales y las acequias, de lospobladores musulmanes y con impresionantesbarrancos y tajos. El Valle de Lecrín, en cuyo corazónse halla el Embalse de Béznar, comparte con elParque Natural de Sierra Nevada, al que pertene-cen algunas de sus poblaciones, los paisajes y valo-res naturales.
Sus saludables aguas que nutren manantiales, latradicional gastronomía, un patrimonio en el quese dan cita iglesias mudéjares y antiguas fortalezasmoriscas y las populares fiestas de Moros yCristianos son otros atractivos añadidos de estacomarca.
Located between the southern side of the ranges of
the Sierra Nevada and the coast, this region has very
characteristic climatic conditions, from the cold of
the snow through to a warm Mediterranean climate
in a matter of kilometres.
Picturesque white towns perched on hillsides welcome
you to this region with unique popular architecture,
cobbled streets and 'tinaos' (bridges linking houses), the
legacy of Muslim settlers as is the case of the terracedslopes and irrigation channels.The Valle de Lecrín(Lecrín Valley),where the Béznar Reservoir is to be
found,has landscapes and natural resources typical of
the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and impressive ravines
and gorges,with various of its towns within the Park
borders.
Its healthy waters derived from springs,the traditionalgastronomy,a heritage which includes Mudéjar churches
and former Moorish fortresses and the popular festi-vals of Moors and Christians are some of the other
attractions in this region.
