How to choose the best plastic pallet? ¿Cómo elegir el palet de plástico más adecuado?

EXTERNAL MEASUREMENTS: The first criteria when choosing a pallet would be the measures of the merchandise/load to be transported.

600x400mm - Quarter pallet: Ideal for special off-line promotions in stores and distribution chains providing greater visual impact for the goods it contains.

800x600mm - Half pallet: The dimensions allow for reduced costs and increased sales, as well as special off-line promotions. It also provides greater visual impact for both the goods displayed and the stores.

1200x800mm - Euro pallet: The most common generic standard pallet. Suitable for all products regardless of the sector.

1200x1000mm - Full size pallet: Standard measure for industrial use mainly due to its bigger dimensions and higher loading capacities.

Due to the characteristics of the materials recycled, the dimensions and the weight of the pallets may present certain tolerances. Dimension tolerances according DIN ISO 2768-V.The values indicated are approximate and are based on both practical experiences and ISO 8611 tests with a uniformly distributed standard load, distributed all over the pallet surface and at ambient temperature (20ºC) for a specific time. Different load conditions produce different values that have to be checked at the customer’s request. Any deterioration or breakage in the pallet may vary these results.

Debido a las características del material reciclado, las dimensiones y el peso de las paletas pueden presentar ciertas tolerancias. Tolerancias dimensionales según DIN ISO 2768-V.Los valores indicados son orientativos, y se basan tanto en experiencias prácticas como en ensayos ISO 8611 con una carga estándar uniformemente repartida, distribuida por toda la superficie del palet y durante un tiempo determinado a temperatura ambiente (20ºC). Distintas condiciones de carga producen valores diferentes que han de ser comprobados a petición del cliente. Cualquier deterioro o rotura en el palet puede variar estos resultados.

RESISTANCE: Depending on the type of goods to be transported, the pallet requires greater or lesser resistance. Defining this value is essential when selecting the product:

Dynamic Load: The dynamic load is that supported by a pallet when it is being handled in a conventional way. Generally speaking, this type of load is more restrictive than static load and given that the principal function of a pallet is to transport and store goods. This is the most vital piece of information to take into account.

Static Load: A pallet is considered to be loaded statically when it is placed on a completely flat, horizontal surface. It is generally the highest value of a pallet. This gives an idea of the pallet’s resistance to compression.

Rack Load: Rack load with the weight that a pallet can bear on a standard and conventional shelf, supported only on the short side. The pallets for this purpose have passed a bending test in order to guarantee optimum performance.

NESTABLE: Nestable pallets tend to be lightweight and are used mainly in order to achieve efficiencies for empty unit storage and transportation.

REINFORCEMENTS: For very heavy loads, and especially when the pallet is stored on shelves, selecting products with metal connector plates for additional safety is highly recommendable.

REPARABILITY: When the pallet is going to be continuously reused, the reparability of the runners is one of the main advantages against the one piece pallets. If any of the pallet elements are broken, a spare part is available so the pallet can be easily repaired turning it into a new unit. The system is easy, fast and economic, enlarging the cycle life of the pallet and making profitable the initial investment.

RUNNERS: Runners are required when the pallet must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Shelf storage

Circulation on roller conveyors

Stacking on other pallets

WEIGHT: Depending what will the pallet be used for, it is important to choose among the following 3 different ranges of weights:

Lightweight or “one way” pallets (4,5 - 9 kg.), are the best option for exporting goods or when the pallet is lost as they are the most economical and lightest pallets of the ranges.

Medium pallets (10 - 16 kg.), they are reusable pallets that combine characteristics of the other two ranges what allows having an intermediate solution in price and durability.

Heavy Duty pallets (17 - 25 kg.), are recommended when you look for reusability and durability, also for heavy loads and high performance.

600x400mm - Cuarto de paleta: Palet destinado a servir como expositor de producto en la gran distribución mejorando el aspecto visual del mismo.

800x600mm - Media paleta: Palet destinado a incrementar la rotación de producto en tienda, permitiendo colocar en el lineal el doble de referencias de producto y ser gestionados de manera más eficiente. Mejora el aspecto visual tanto del producto como de la tienda.

1200x800mm - Europalet: Es el modelo estándar más genérico para cualquier tipo de producto independientemente del sector.

1200x1000mm - Palet industrial: Modelo estándar destinado a un uso más industrial por sus mayores dimensiones y mayor capacidad de carga.

ENCAJABLE: Un palet encajable, por lo general es un palet ligero, que se requiere fundamentalmente cuando se pretenden conseguir eficiencias en el almacenamiento y transporte de las unidades vacías.

REFUERZOS METÁLICOS: Para cargas muy pesadas, y fundamental-llmente cuando el palet ha de estar almacenado en una estantería, es recomendable seleccionar equipos con refuerzo metálico para obtener una garantía extra de seguridad.

REPARABLE: Cuando el palet va a ser reutilizado de forma constante, la reparabilidad de los patines es una gran ventaja frente a los modelos de una sola pieza. Ante la rotura de cualquier elemento, como pueden ser los patines, se puede adquirir un repuesto para reemplazar la unidad dañada. Con este sistema sencillo, rápido y económico, se alarga la vida útil de los palets y rentabiliza la inversión inicial en la adquisición del producto.

PATINES: La existencia de patines es necesaria cuando el palet vaya a cumplir al menos uno de los siguientes requisitos:

Almacenamiento en estantería

Circulación en cadenas de rodillos

Remonte sobre otros palets

PESO: En función del uso que se dará al palet debemos elegir entre tres categorías de producto, que distinguimos en función del peso del mismo:

Palets ligeros (4,5 - 9 kg.), son los más convenientes para la exportación o cuando el palet no se recupera, ya que son de bajo peso y los más económicos dentro de los de su gama.

Palets intermedios (10 - 16 kg.), destinados a una reutilización pero con el menor peso posible que permite obtener una solución intermedia en cuanto el precio y prestaciones.

Palets pesados (17 - 25 kg.), para un uso continuado y para cuando se precisa un palet robusto y cuyo ciclo de vida sea lo mayor posible.

RESISTENCIA: Dependiendo de la mercancía a transportar, el paletha de tener más o menos resistencia. Es muy importante definir estevalor a la hora de hacer la elección del producto.

Carga dinámica: La carga dinámica es la que soporta un palet cuando se manipula de forma convencional. Por lo general, esta carga es más restrictiva que la estática y puesto que la función principal de un palet es el transporte de mercancías, este es el dato más importante a considerar.

Carga estática: Se considera que un palet está cargado estáticamente, cuando está colocado en una superficie totalmente plana y horizontal. Generalmente, es el valor de carga más alto de un palet. Esto nos da una idea de la resistencia del palet a compresión.

Carga Rack: Se considera carga en rack, a la cantidad de peso que un palet puede soportar en una estantería estándar y convencional apoyado tan solo por los dos laterales de su lado corto. Los palets destinados a tal fin superan una prueba de tensión para garantizar su óptimo comportamiento.
